I think peope, or at least those that claim the "usage of gays", should critically define what they mean when they use the word "use". If they mean that she is manipulating us with lies about her care for the community, then I think they are being lead by false interpretations because she would be hypocritical and a complete letdown if this were true. Born This Way definitely isn't just about gays! The song is about EVERYONE! It's about embracing yourself no matter who you are, and not being ashamed of the way you were made. That may be very relevant in the gay community, but it's also relevant for a lot of other people. I'm a straight girl and Born This Way means a lot to me. I may not be a minority but I've felt like an outcast and the message in Born This Way encourages me to embrace my differences and not care what other people think.

I think peope, or at least those that claim the "usage of gays", should critically define what they mean when they use the word "use". If they mean that she is manipulating us with lies about her care for the community, then I think they are being lead by false interpretations because she would be hypocritical and a complete letdown if this were true. She also would have said something by now. In another sense, she is "using us" as modern-day portrayals of prejudice to promote her values.

I always associated Born This Way - and Lady Gaga herself - with the idea that everybody should accept and embrace who they are, even if their true self isn't what's generally perceived as "normal". I never associated her with the LGBT community specifically, then again I'm not a massive Gaga fan so I haven't really looked into it that much.

Im gay, i don't like lady gaga, but i don't hate her either. That doesn't mean i don't like her message or that I don't want equality. I like other bands that have the exact message as she does, like for example Rise Against. They convey the same messages in their music as she does, Just simply her music is not my style.

Born This Way definitely isn't just about gays! The song is about EVERYONE! It's about embracing yourself no matter who you are, and not being ashamed of the way you were made. That may be very relevant in the gay community, but it's also relevant for a lot of other people. I'm a straight girl and Born This Way means a lot to me. I may not be a minority but I've felt like an outcast and the message in Born This Way encourages me to embrace my differences and not care what other people think.

Perhaps the backlash is being provoked by the alienation that some fans have felt from other Lady GaGa fans, and increasingly GaGa herself. Some fans don't want to be "little monsters." Many people just like her music (because she is very talented), but I think the way she now interacts with a select group of her fan community is irritating the rest of her fans, or of those who were her fans but can no longer relate.

Being a "little monster" means that you are BEING yourself, even if your society's definition of normal. Being a little monster is about embracing yourself as who you are, so it's not alienating. She does focus more on the LBGTQ community as well as the more out-going and outrageous, but that doesn't mean that is all we are.

I have friends that are gay that love Lady G ya, and then I also have straight friends who love her. My gay friends do not think she is using them. So, personally I can't say whether she is, but I would probably say not.
