  • BBC is asking the patronizing question about the half a million of people living down river. BBC's home country along with its ally, the US invaded Iraq based on fabricated WMD, ignoring all expert advise about the catastrophe that would follow. An estimated half a million to a million Iraqis lost their lives. Just before the Invasion of Iraq, then British PM, Tony blair was running around (on behalf of Zionists) like a rabid dog to convince other support or jopin the Iraqi invasion.

  • FUCK WHITE PEOPLE, THEY ALWAYS WANT TO FIND SOMEWAY TO KEEP BLACK PEOPLE DOWN. THAT'S BULLSHIT

  • AFRICANS DON'T NEED WESTERN APPROVAL SEAL or BLESSING TO USE AFRICAN NATURAL RESOURCES TO THE WELL BEING OF AFRICANS.

Too bad the days of Western crocodile tears & looting Africa ain't as simple as it used to be.

FYI: Building dam on the river does NOT block the flow of water back to the river.

Therefore, the RIVER will continue to flow as it has been flowing since eternity.

For further info, Google for all the dams built on the rivers.

  • GO Ethiopia! You don't need permission from anybody to USE OUR NILE RIVER just as the Arab Emirates don't need any permission to extract their OIL within their respective countries!!!

Just go ahead and build the dam, not time for talk. Those knuckle heads against the dam are nothing but retarded sad excuse for Ethiopians.

  • dude get a f.... clue .

  • @macatvegas agame dam is to divert water from Neftegna Amhara region to dry Agame land. agames tigres stealing Ethiopian's resources.

  • Gallas stay in the dark while Agames and Neftegnas kill your asses. Soon egypt will bomb shitopia and you all Gallas Agames and Neftegnas will be wiped off the map soon. Free Oromia, Free Ogaden.!!!

  • MY FELLOW ETHIOPIANS, PLEASE I URGE U TO WATCH A PBS DOCUMENTARY CALLED " BLUE GOLD " AND CONNECT THE DOTS 2HOW THE BACK ROOM DEAL MELES ZENAWI MADE WITH BIG CORPORATIONS( WESTERN CORPORATIONS) ON WATER PRIVATIZATIONS ON ETHIOPIAN TAX PAYERS ON THE FORM OF BONDS! THE WAY THIS STRUCTURE SALES OF THE WATER PRIVATIZATION SO COMPLEX AND SECURE EVEN MELSE CLOSE ADVISORS AND WIFE AZEB( gibb) DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT! MY FELLOW CITIZENS STOP INVESTING ON BONDS.YOU ARE HELPING MELSE SELLING YOUR COUNTRY.

  • @macatvegas Kill all Agames and Neftegnas, free oOromiaA!!!! :D

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe Tigray and Amaha are you MASTERS remember you were OUR SLAVES until recently? If you don't behave, we will enslave you!!!! You are so petrified of Tigray and Amhara :) They give you nighmares, outsmart you in every level! They even drive you mental, make you scream all over youtube like your your Aregit mama lol

Ethiopia is going stronger, Eritrea is diving into gutter :):) How we love Issu Afewerki for keeping you all locked up! Bravo Issu!

  • @EthioCaramela you AGAME and NEFTEGNA are beggers. Micheal Jackson sings for you to get fed food: "We are the world we are the children" biblical AGAME and NEFTEGNA famine, Gallas were well fed, they need independence from Tigre/Neftegna apartheid system. FREEEE oromiaaaa!

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe Michael Jackson sang we are the world to feed drought stricken Eritreans then part of Ethiopia!!!!! btw I was not even born at that time so stop living in the past you old fart :)

Amhara and Tigray used you as Soccer ball slaves for centuries and we still do. That is why you are here screaming right? ;) We will kick your ass! It seems like you are dying to be our slaves again and Meles is working on that. He needs work force for the dams, rail way projects, contractions etc ;)

  • @EthioCaramela "we are the world, we are the agames, we need food cause our country is dry and hungry" Fuck Agames and Neftegnas, long live Oromiaaaa newest nation in Africa!!! :)

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe Long live Essue Afewerki!!!!!! We love him :) Keep locking Esuuu, keep locking them in Sawa:)

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe Nile = Amhara region, green and beautiful region. Aretera is super DRY barren land so you wouldn't know green if it slaps you on the face :) Amhara are the most educated, intelligent, articulate, gorgeous, warrior tribes of Ethiopia.

Root of Ethiopian history and civilization started from Axum. Tigray people are the most intelligent, heroic, business minded, beautiful, clued up Ethiopians. Are you tired of being outdone, outsmarted, outmanoeuvred by Tigre & Amhara?

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe We are the reason why your 20 years of independence turned out to be 20 years of nightmare and despair :) We are the reason why you are internationally labelled as rouge state. We are the reason why your leech, two faced ass is deported out of Ethiopia. We are the reason why you are the most despised shit hole of a nation in Africa as well as globally. We are the reason why your ports are idle and grazing ground for camels :):) who blames you for going crazy on youtube? I don't ;)

  • @EthioCaramela Woyane dam in Nile will divert all water to tigray, sucking resources of ethiopia aka abyssinia the fake country of Africa. Burnt Face HIV infected losers. Egypt is gonna bomb you now and ethiopians will take down the fake Woyane dam. Gallas need independence not fake dams.

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe Why do Eritreans dislike Ethiopians so much ?

  • @JasonStew202 We don't like Agames, Neftegnas, & Gallas. Oromia & Ogaden will be freee!

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe Oh so im assuming "Agame" is an ethnic group in ethiopia, but Im very curious to know why you dislike them ? Is it simlar to when the Natzis hated Jews ?

  • @JasonStew202 Agames are beggers, shoe shiners, and poorest of the poor. Their agame homeland is Tigrai northern Ethiopia, driest most parched land of Ethiopia, they're women are whores and prostitutes and maids, they are parasites for Ethiopia, their minority government is destroying Ethiopia and Eritrea and commiting genocide everywhere in horn of Africa. Ethnocentric Crime Minister Meles Chenawi of Ethiopia.

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe It really seems like you have a deep rooted hate for these people. What you explained was the same as Arabs talk about Jews and vise versa. Is Eritrea a wealthy country ? The only time I've ever heard of it is when the news talks about thrid world countrys in Africa ? Im just trying to understand whats behind the hatred?

  • @JasonStew202 Brother. Forget the delusional man there. He makes no sense at all. He hates a group of people for being Ethiopian. They are called Tigrayan, a section of them are called Agame. He thinks it is an insult to call them by their name :) He is very delusional...You can never change such people. The only way is to teach then a lesson like the US did to the crazy Bin laden !!

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe Do you forget your leader that you adore Issays Afeworki is Tigrean himself .

  • @JasonStew202 Their goal is disintegration of Ethiopia across ethnic lines. However, it is a suicide mission to themselves as well, since they are also an amalgam of many ethnic groups. They are people you can never negotiate with. They are angry for losing the border war and keep barking every where. They lived of the US and Arab countries to break away from Ethiopia. Now that they don't enjoy such support , their last destiny is to come back to their mother country, Ethiopia.

  • @ChelseafcTube

The Tigrians and the Eritreans were buddy when they both worked to break up Ethiopia. Before they went at each others thorat for a stony patch of land. Both are psychotic ...

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe Woyane land is Ethiopian land. I would rather have the nile water go to Tigray brothers than to Enemy lands. Fenditeh mut !!

  • Ethiopians should put their differences aside and support these projects 200%! The west don't give a hoot about those half a million Ethiopians NOR THE ENVIRONMENT. The world bank would have easily, gladly funded Meles Zenawi if he was to use the money to purchase weapons!!

Africans can not be fools and stay in the dark forever while the west not only built dams but space stations using their excessive energy supplies from countless nuclear power stations. Environmental damage my ass!!!

  • Remember the British wiped out millions of indigenous people from Australia, USA, New zealand, etc to benefit their own interests and still defend their evil deeds. Ethiopia is only building dams using its OWN resources and relocating citizens to appropriate places NOT killing them.

Mind your business and GO TO HELL BRITAIN and its allies! You can not keep Africa in dark forever while you light every corner of your respective nations. The people of Africa have woken up!

    Pure hypocrisy!

  • @EthioCaramela Gallas need freedom and independence. When will you agames stop killing and massacring them and give them freedom?

  • @EriPLaYa4LyFe @EriPLaYa4LyFe That would be when my darling Issu Afewerki shukor decides to release the whole Eritrean population from Prison :)

Why are you calling Oromos galla? You low life Areteran! You are going crazy, crying all over youtube :) Lay off welfare and get a job, it seems you have you plenty of time hence cry on youtube 24/7. As for Egypt, all we have to do is let 80 million ppl pee in Nile river lol they will happily drink that as God didn't give them no rainfall :) :) :)

  • There is absolutely nothing CONTROVERSIAL about building dams! It is Ethiopia's God given right to utilize its natural resources and develop the nation. How did USA, Europe, Asia, Australia etc manage to be energy sufficient? How comes nobody was talking about environmental issues then?

The world bank is a racist, dysfunctional organisation designed to benefit the west ONLY and exploit developing nations to the max. Refusing fund for vital project is simply disgraceful.

  • If the Irish Catholics, Irish Protestant, English, Wales, Sudanese, Egyptians, etc,, can share natural resources & manage to build destiny, so can Africans.

Sadly, the ethnic minority Tigray Apartheid in Ethiopian palace, is too busy wasting Ethiopian resources, shopping for arms & waging wars against Ethiopians, Eritreans & Somalis, while the Ethiopian people continue to suffer through endless wars, famines & disease, courtesy of the ethnic war-lords in Ethiopian palace.

  • @BahreNeGash

you ertrean ,allways seek disaster of ethiopia, you chrstian and both terrorist linked with al kaida and soamli al shabab , we have a right to drink our pure water , if prefer the saltish water of assab ana asmara , you should avert you eyes from tigrey liones of ethiopia , see how crazy isayas burried you life , you need new leader

  • @MrGuugaalre

AGAME, To drink a clean water, you NEED to work for it.

Waging Tigray-Apartheid ethnic wars all over Ethiopia, does NOT help provide clean water. DOES IT?

But, to DIVERT the attention of Ethiopians from TIGRAY ETHINIC MINORTY APARTHIED IN EHIOPIA & cover up your Tigray APARTHIED Ethnic wars against Ethiopians, you BLAME Eritreans, Somlais & Sudan.

TOO BAD, YOU CAN NOT FOOL ALL ETHIOPIANS ALL OF THE TIME !!!!!

  • @MrGuugaalre If you are GALLA you have no rights in your country. you need independence. Free Oromia!

  • Time to build another BIG dam on the nile, just like the 4 we already built on the Nile Tributaries. hahaha bye bye egypt/terrorists.

  • As much as I like the diversity of the Ethiopian people and it's tribes I thinks it's time to change, the dam will benefit Ethiopia and tribes should be part of that great change then be on the outside of it. God Bless Ethiopia.

  • The "environmental groups" are working for this Holland company who is preparing to sell electric city for Kenya by generate electricity from wind is afraid of loosing its business..No environmental group actually concerned to this level for people resides downstream. Generally they don't worry for black peoples. They want to keep us dark or make a business on on us.

  • Every project has its own side effects. This project benefits are by far greater than its side effects. This dam become an issue b/c the Holland company who is preparing to sell electric city for Kenya by generate electricity from wind is afraid of loosing its business.

  • I think some people here have got the wrong idea: It's not the BBC vs Ethiopia here. This dam may produce much-needed electricity for a time, but the impacts on biodiversity, and the fact that the Omo River supplies 80% of Turkana's water...it will be devastating for both Kenyans and Ethiopians!

Please take a look at the organisations International Rivers and Friends of Lake Turkana to find out more.

  • @Jiyuu89 International Rivers, a California based NGO is lecturing and campaigning on how dams are bad for Africans. It is sitting in the state of California where there are 1,273 dams, a number more than what 21 Sub- Saharan African countries all together cannot claim. After its dismal effort to stop the Tekeze and the Tana Beles dams in Ethiopia, International Rivers is on a renewed futile campaign, naming its campaign “Friends of Lake Turkana".

  • @Rasxilinx Then who can we trust? It's difficult.. I don't think the Italian construction company building Gibe III or the Chinese bank funding it care about Ethiopians either.

Dams have been shown to have a negative effect on river systems and their biodiversity all around the world - for example the Mekong. Here in Japan some dams have been taken down for that reason.

  • @Jiyuu89 International Rivers tried very hard to stop the construction of Tekeze Dam in Ethiopia. This is what they said in 2006 “…In addition to the familiar environmental problems associated with large dams, such as altered hydrology and threatened fisheries , Tekeze will also completely change the face of one of Africa's deepest canyons. The deepness of the canyon walls will likely contribute to major sedimentation at the dam site once the region is flooded…”

  • @Jiyuu89 December 2010, Tekeze Hydropower dam, tallest arch dam in Africa is named as Best Renewable/Sustainable Project of the Year by POWER-GEN International.

"Local community infrastructure was improved as a result of the project, including construction of more than 40 kilometers of roads and installation of the first communications links.....education was improved in the area as the wife of the MWH chief design engineer spearheaded efforts to build a new school near the village of Seboko.."

  • @Rasxilinx A lot of controversy surrounding Tekeze as well. It is thought to have been disastrous from an environmental point of view, & there has been a lack of transparency regarding who funded it. As for POWERGEN..it's obvious whose interests they have in mind. I sincerely hope that Glibe will only have positive effects on the local community, but I think Ethiopians are resourceful & can find other more sustainable ways of producing electricity (if only developed countries would help)

  • @Jiyuu89 International Rivers has created a coalition with its funders again mainly composed of Lake Turkana Wind Power consortium (LTWP) which is poised to provide 300 MW to Kenya's national electricity, a Dutch company and wind turbine manufacturer that is threatened by the possibility Ethiopia exporting cheap energy to Kenya.

  • @Jiyuu89 We should not be deceived with these NGOs that bark about the environment and disguise themselves as if they care for it. For example, International Rivers has done a study on how dam projects are bad for Africa and limited it to only alternative energy sources such as wind that are the solutions. The problem with this is that the study was commissioned by the Dutch government and the Dutch wind turbine manufacturers associations.

  • @Jiyuu89 International Rivers has created a coalition with Mr. Obang Meto, the self-appointed Anuak Justice Council of America. In addition, a very innocent sounding seemingly Kenyan group called Friends of Lake Turkana is part of the coalition. Some of international Rivers funders such as the Dutch Wind turbine manufacturers have shown up as friends of Lake Turkana.

  • @Jiyuu89 This list of pretender environmentalist goes on but some of the interesting people include a Dutch vegetable farmer who irrigated Lake Turkana to death. Another one is Dr. Leaky the multi- millionaire Archaeologist, businessman, and corruption fighter; who started the lake Turkan campaign chaired by Ikal Angele a young Kenyan girl and employee of the Leaky family business enterprise.

  • BBC: With nothing for Nothing to Ethiopia! Just leave it for Ethiopia. We know your mission! Let us tell BBC onething_ WE NEED BREAD, AND FOR THIS WE DON WANT UR VERY ILLOGICAL STAND!

  • @damotups BBC is doing a hit job for egypt Egypt are bastard terrorist arabs we will wipe you off the map. We will divert the Nile River soon. We already built megadams, your screwed!

  • Why make enemies, when you can make friends?

For decades, Ethiopia has been & still is in INTERNAL ETHNIC WARS & EXTERNAL WARS against Somalia, Eritrea,,etc?

And, now, do you want to go to wars with Sudan & Egypt, when the issues can simply be SETTLED in negotations?

PRIDE & EGO aside, why do the poor innocent Ethiopian people have to be subjects to famines & endless wars?

WHY NOT NEGOTIATE & RESOLVE DIFFERENCES FOR THE BENEFITS OF ALL INVOLVED?

Becareful what you pray for, you might get.

  • Djibouti Stands by Ethiopia, we love you guys, just make us proud

  • @DjiboutiUnited Viva Djibouti Viva Ethiopia. Fuck Egypt, Fuck Eritrea, Fuck Somalia

  • Under the detrimental developmental challenges and dire conditions Ethiopia is faced, the governments decision to construct this dam is right. Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world, and erecting the dam generates safer energy to speed development, saves the ecosystem by sparing the trees from being cut for energy and increase modernity. Ethiopians care about their people more than Europeans. Hands off!

  • @shewiT1 Well I don't think the Italian company constructing the dam or the Chinese bank funding them care too much about Ethiopians either. The costs that will arise from the dam being built will outweight the benefits it will bring (such as electricity for local people). River Omo supplies over 80% of Lake Turkana's water - and the lake is already shrinking forcing both Ethiopians and Kenyans to move, fuelling conflicts over water and resources. Check out Friends of Lake Turkana for more.

  • all of you guys who support this project in "national interest" don't be naive. TPLF has never done anything good for the country. This project can set us up for long term conflict with Kenyans (who are our allys against Egypt on Nile issues). This should have been made on the Nile as that river is 0% utilized. Where are the documents, studies, contracting informations etc on this project?? Ask for accountability, don't just be driven by the "national interest" bs

  • what type of argument is that? don't use this river because those are our partners to use another river! By the way as of Kenyan gov't they don't have any problem on developing the hydro power their stake is to put further precondition in utilizing this resource for irrigation purpose. regarding your request for documentation you can visit EPECO website they publish everything they did . Am not Tplf fun, but developing our water resource is way beyond political issue.

  • @tikurgisila

you sucks............u have an old fashion idea

  • I am not buying this crap. This project is not studied and supported. A billion dollar is going to be spent on this unknown project. I think it is a move by TPLF to divert attention from itself due to severe power shortage caused by their 18 years of robbery and private profiteering.

One question, why isn't this dam being built on the Nile? Either TPLF is being paid by Egypt to set us up for conflict with Kenyans (long term) or TPLF is trying to ensure turmoil in the region.

  • Tikurgisila:- don't beleive any thing! Why should U ? It is all your right to burry your head in a sand like a duck. I am glad that there are so many millions of Ethiopians & friends that they work hard to make this project happens. When the project will be realized at the end, you won't loose anything. Who knows what U guys will say even then?

  • Why does the TPLF & it's cronies bark against Eritreans, when Ethiopians protest & oppose the minority ethnic-policies of the TPLF minority gangs in Ethiopia's Menelik Palace?

If TPLF thinks it can fool all Ethiopians all of the time & divert the Ethiopians attention from it's ethnic-agenda, sooner or later, the TPLF will find out the hard way, "YOU CAN NOT FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME".

  • Gob Bless Meles! Keep it up! The useless so called Professor doesn't care about the people of Ethiopia who are dying because of famine and drought. Do not give your ear to BBC and other media, try your level best to get the job done within the coming 2 years. God Bless Ethiopia

  • Why do Ethiopians not understand they can not continue to persecute people! Based on the comments, Amhara should recommend Tigray leave the land for development? It is twisted to suggest Omo do the same! It is typical Ethiopian leadership.

Dr Gebre (Ethiopian Environmental Agency) compares the impact to Omo people with that of human's stepping on insects. Is this not how the Hutu extremists initiated massacre of Tutsi (Rwandan Genocide)? Ethiopia will dismantle as it continues on this course.

  • It is not about Amhara, Oromo, Tigre....It is about Ethiopia, we are one people....our diversity is our strength...we belong to one country and one flag. We all stand and come together for the development of Ethiopia.

I know there are many points on which we don't agree with the government but there are also things which need us to come together and stand shoulder to shoulder like Development just to mention few i.e. Hydro Electric Power, Road Project, Education, Health....

    God Bless Africa

  • well I think Ethiopia as a Country shoul utillize all resources that they have. There is no oromo ,amhara , tigray and so on land. It is ETHIOPIAN land. The problem I have with goverment is that they should have consulted the local ppl and talk/reassure the ppl that they will be ok and make sure to full fill thire promises. Also as the elder man stated that the goverment favores the other tribe, which is wrong to do that. Then the goverment is cultivating hate b/n the two tribes.Which is bad!

  • Ethiopia is developing first world dams & hydro projects to keep up with its needs - it is proactive & the needs cannot wait the further 5-10 years needed to go through the lengthy channels hinted at by the BBC.

Well done on the progress with the dams & improvements to infrastructures.

  • What is the wrong we did against the British any ways? Why are they trying to patronize us. Are we not supposed to be autonomous. Huh, what have they got to loose, offcourse, by leaving us alone? What ever happens any ways is the homework of Ethiopians and non of British business.

  • Men, whether we like it or not there is no retreat. We have one and only one option. That's changing our country. I don't know what the fuss of the British Journalist is? They always insult us as poor and famine stricken. They do the same even wen we start to change. What the heck did we do against the British any ways. What is the kind of threat we pause against them. We are cool and poor people who don't do any harm. Is this the truth they have missed or what is our mistake. We are desperate.

  • And Meles is doing something about that. He's building a dam. Watch the damn video.

  • well said ethi0nz...NitroEthiopian which i highly doubt is Ethiopian is contradicting himself by supporting the project yet dissing Meles and the government. And as far as this british wanker goes he is just trying to come up with a story that's all it is i mean hey he has to make a living somehow even if it means lying. Last but not least i loved it when Meles said "There is no rat to smell here" LOL Meles is ma boy he let him have it

  • tIGRIGNA...WHY IS MELES YOU BOY? HE is killing every one whom is not Tigray! So since you are benefiting from the missrey off others then you love him..go head keep loving this MANSTER!

  • oromothopia. thats it. thts wat we gonna call it. good job meles for this one but don't elect yoself again. it makes us happy when we see progress.

  • Thank godddddddddddddddddddddd! Finally,

  • The People downstream are Ethiopians, and will be resettled, given access to irrigation agriculture, and better infrastructures. They shall and will not remain "wildlifes" to entertain western tourist photographers. Ethiopia is familiar with British politics since the 19th Century; Africa is aware of their crocodile tears. "nilo ethiopian" is another british guy.

  • at 06:46 he said give us choice should we stay in the dark or should we develope our country ? this the question for those critics who like to complain on our development

  • The biggest dam in the world! Bravo Meles. we don't care about this Jelous British and Eritreans. We love you our great PM Meles Zenawi, you will be remembered for this dams and for the roads over all for building our country.

  • Great atheist/heathen Britain has always tried to undermine a Christian nation like Ethiopia all the time. The great nation of America (which gets sabotaged by Britain as 'special r/nship') is the one that helped Ethiopia during the famine and all its hardships. The British talk the talk of aid!! What have they done other than molesting our holy treasures with their atheist hand. Our govt should break relation with this nation until they return our stuff and stop undermining us.

  • keep it up Ethiopia .......

    VOTE EPRDF2010

  • "Ethiopia is Moving Fast "

take a look at this country ... we will become like one of those far east nations of asia soon...

eat ur hrts out foe ...

we r moving up the ladder .....

  • this one brilliant must do for our Ethiopia. Appreciate the government 's effort to issure its successful completion. come on we got to stand besides our government

  • Thanks for posting bro, very interesting

  • Isn't this a good thing?
