  • Brings back memories. I had pious Burmese friends & the food, the song, takes me back to those younger days. Thank you for this very special upload.

  • Around 7.00 there are so many monks to feed, won't it be a problem for such a small rice stall like that? Seems that there are more food given out to the monks than what they can sell in a day's business.

  • @panci0808

Plenty of people offering food at this hour in the morning of course. It's not just one person or stall but a communal activity. Merit gained by this act of charity matters more than money making for many too. Priorities seen from the Buddhist perspective.

  • They accept whatever is given, without discrimination. Don't think there's any requirement for Buddhists to be vegetarian, providing that the animal hasn't been killed specifically for them -

"Monks, I allow you fish and meat that are quite pure in three respects: if they are not seen, heard or suspected to have been killed on purpose for a monk. But, you should not knowingly make use of meat killed on purpose for you."

  • besides who needs meat when you have an Alms Bowl ful of Sticky rice =)

  • This food looks great! And the care from which it is given is truly beautiful! Lovely vid!

  • I love this video! bless you my friend

I too am a believer that Buddha was not vegetarian. do I belive though that he didn't like to harm animals? Yes. I could never see the Buddha hurt an animal.

  • Thanks,Buddhists must do no harm to any sentient being. One of the 8 material things monks are allowed is the water filter so he will not inadvertently harm very tiny living creatures in the water.

  • Thank you my friend. It is so nice to see the monks fullfill their day.

Plus I give my thanks for the Buddha's blessing. He helped me get out of a depression.

  • Being a Vegatarian, I found out from my brother monks that there are 10 types of Meat the Buddha suggested they not eat Tiger,Lion,Snake,Elephant,Human,Monkey,Bear,Jaguar,Horse,Camel

this is atleast in The Theravadin Tradition Most Mahayana Buddhists try to vegatarian and make some awesome hope this helps

    All the best

    Blessings

    Jay

  • News to me.

  • This was one of my favorite videos here on Youtube about Buddhism. I enjoyed to watch the Monks fullfill their day. Bless you my friend. Hope to hear from you :)

    Buddha bless you

  • I love this...

  • Nyeinjanyei; great peace and honour to all.

The Maha Sangha is the most precious in this world.

To do anything against The Maha Sangha is very serious.

Please do not harm any of the Monks and people of Myanmar. I beg protect the Maha Sangha and the people more than protecting oneself.

Please no violence and please everyone, do not use weapons. Please no violence and please everyone, do not use weapons.

  • With all respect, the Monks are only eating pork as this is a serious time, even though sometimes Priests accept what is given, the Priests generally do not eat meat especially pork.

  • They are not priests but monks. It is believed that the Buddha himself ate meat and died after becoming ill from having been given tainted pork.

  • I understand, that we may refer to the Lords in either. Would it be possible to give something else, if possible tofu? Or a buffalo dairy product?

  • Perhaps you feel that Budddhists must be vegetarians. I respect your view but the two are not synonymous; a lot of Buddhists shun meat but not the majority, monks and laypeople alike.

  • correct, not all are vegie. meat is eaten in some secs of practice. xie xie namo waquang
