  • HAIKU

    I hatch! Crawl! And swim!

Oh how I love my sweet life,

    Please don’t hunt me.

    —A Green Sea Turtle

  • STOP NETTING NOW!!!!!!!!! Fish with rod and reel ONLY! The way is should be!

  • Just one simple equation. All you have to do is remove the unproductive sea lion & there'll be more fish around to fish. Less fish eating creatures around, more fish for humans. Ha Ha Ha.

  • dumb americans

  • coming from brittish faggats im not suprised

  • why not just start a darn fish farm. your able to produce your own fish

  • @RaNdY04gt because its expensive

  • @RaNdY04gt Yea but you need feed to that fish. And where is that feed made from? Fish. It takes a lot of wild fish to feed farmed fish

  • Money !!!! Money overrules ! Recreational fishing generates more money for the economy than commercial fishing. Often times, rich sport fishermen have friends in high places ! Commercial fisherman take the hit, we always do !

  • Tonight, there is a meeting on the speckle trout here in NC. NMFS wants to shut down the commercial harvest of speckle trout. For what reason ? Commercial fisherman land just over 200,000 lbs annually as rec fisherman land 900,00 lbs that are recorded. Its figured the rec. landings in actuality are 2 to 3 times the actual recorded amount. Yet, rec. fisherman will still be able to harvest these fish. OVERFISHING BY WHOM ?

  • @strikenetter

wow how is that possible , at any rate sounds like they are doing it backwards

  • I hunt Gods creatures down and I kill them for profit, and I love it.

  • Thanks to organizations, anti comm.organizations, a law has now been proposed deducing fisherman to practice fishing using a net less than 3 1/2 inch stretch due to turtle mortality, or in case the instance of !!! Overpopulation and residential building along with tourism lining beaches has nothing to do with turtle demise does it ???/ We are now at the subjection of biological fisheries law ! WHAT NEXT ? Cast nets will be proposed for sure and the seafood business will face a crisis as FL !!!

  • The majority of fish in our sound have perished due to drastic water decline, is this " overfishing" ? Speckle trout are floating to the surface dead as a hammer, yet overfishing is thought to be the cause for concern by biologists despite adverse information pointing to healthy stocks ! Wheres the scientific logic behind this intelligence ?

  • fucking human race!!! destroys everything, it´s just shaming!!

  • Hilarious comment, go to school and get an education ? Many fisherman are educated to a point which you can never grasp. Not all intelligence lies soley on a college degree, often times, this only implies that you are a well educated idiot. Not all fish are exploited, industrial vessels are the cause for concern.

  • I know all about recovery plans, herring here in NC, eatern US were deemed endangered to the point the fishery was shut down for 16 years. The main population survey was in the Chowan river, yet there are 4 more rivers and a sound/river where herrings could have spawned ! Though their presence was deemed unpresentable in the Chowan, this research deemed all rivers as unpresenatble in regards to population of the herring ! What the F ??

  • Alaska has too fee seals and lots of fish. The East Coast (Can) has too many seals and no fish. Huh? LVP there are NO uropean vessels on the Grand Banks per se. The cod fishery has been shut down for15 years!

  • East coast fishing are taking a big blow.Europeans raid the grand banks with floating plants,East coast states are doing the same and whatever that is left are scooped by Canada.Grand banks should be reserved to Canada and U.S. with 200' fishing vessels...Sorry Portugal and Spain, you weren't careful with your stock,YOU must wait until the damages YOU created heal...

  • Capitalism is a murder machine.

Capitalism is an externalization cost escalation machine.

Capitalism is thriving when it is creating problems.

  • @trakkaton ITS not true what you say... People are murder machines no matter what government.. Why you say this I don't know maybe you are crazy or stupid.

  • @fishrcoolturtles2

You just made it obvious that you don't even have the knowledge to comment on the topic. There are and have been lots of people who live without government. To equate Yanomami with Khmer Rouge or the Nestor Machnow Movement with farmers in Namibia shows just how narrow your horizon is. That aside, capitalism is primary an economic, not a political system.

  • And to your statement of my anger, yes i am angry for laws in regards to populations are being implemented with no just cause. Many species are proportionally abundant to their surroundings yet laws are being imposed without justification. Speckle trout pops. are the highest in years yet a 200 LB limit has been imposed despite the healthy stocks. YOU FIGURE IT OUT ?

  • Every fisherman i have ever conversed with in Florida has stated the same as i . Comm. fisherman there are limited to certain species, so what species are in decline that the comm. fisherman are allowed to harvest ? Mullets ? Jacks? Spanish ? Any other species, if facing population crisis are soley fished by rec. fisherman. My only anger is on the data and the regulations in accordance with collected data. So what species of fish have you seen in decline ?

  • this vid says overfishing USA idiot, and the same principals for collecting data on populations are used everywhere, from landings ! My education only lies in fishing ? I see the fish populations in my waters daily, yet biologists sitting behind desks reading paper work are telling me the populations of the fish i target ! KNOW a lot more than you think !!

  • i dunno...you pretty much sound like an angry idiot. i have fished in florida for 15 years and have noticed a big decline, both in numbers and size. apparently there are other people who have noticed the same thing around the world even though i'm sure no one knows as much as you do. i'm glad you still have lots of fish in your area, but please shut up

  • NC, no depletion in stocks here, but yet we are facing laws with adverse information, biologists say fish stocks are decreasing yet my landing have stayed the same since i started over 15 years ago ! 75 % fish stocks overfished, i have watched in greenpeace vids that it was 90 % , so which is it ?

  • strikenetter:

Please. You've pretty much admitted that your education has consisted solely of fishing. Could you kindly leave the GLOBAL ASSESSMENTS of FISH POPULATION to people like ecologists, who tend to get out beyond the NC boundary waters a bit more often than you do? I mean, it's not like you're an expert about the fish populations of Alaska, or the Oregon Coast, or Australia, now, IS it? So maybe it's possible your extensive fishing education didn't tell you EVERYTHING...isn't it?

  • oh wow when it comes to america being the bad person everyone turns nice but if itsw a different country like japan they turn into really mean bastards which i find really messed up to see what im talking about go to pirate tuna fishing

  • this was depressing. but informative

  • Wow this comments are alot nicer than the comments about the japanese and their tuna fishing.

  • does this mean i wont be able to have my daily dolphin sandwich?

  • just moved new area

    i liked this video :) 1v

  • this is very informative information, thank you for uploading this (Im not a nerd about this, im just being nice)

  • Ken, alaska has record numbers of fish . What's the problem. you need to find a new religen.

The problem with sealions is that there's alot more Orca's now than there was 40 years ago. Orcas eat sealions.

  • We're all doomed!!!

  • That kind of logic is going to kill mankind. (see below)

  • Why are there people who think they need to keep the earth exactly the way it is now. The earth has been changing for the entire time of its existence. Hey, change is inevitable. Accept it.

  • well thats just ignorant

  • Myth: "farmed salmon have flooded the market".

Let's look at the numbers and the facts: Alaska ranches 1.5 billion salmon each year and has 50 million of those fish return annually. All this ranched salmon is harvested in a 4 month period. Salmon farming on the same coast only harvests 18 million each year over a 12 month period. So, who is it that's flooding the market?

If you're wondering how ranching differs (or not) from farming, search in youtube for "Alaska salmon farming".

  • Hey, let's ask for no take zones. Thanks.

  • The market is being flooded from South America , Norway and SE Asia.

Responsible aqauculture is part of the solution. No take reserves are another.
