This video is attempting to explain a topological topic while using minimal mathematical nomenclature. While the subject is interesting, it's challenging to explain without proper terminology.
@MegaObliterate hey dumbass, I got my phd in REAL physics from MIT ok, I studied stuff you can actually look at and measure, not some stupid shit someone dreamed up. Chill out
Anyone that has studied physics to even A level should know that practically every single advancement in physics has came from things that originally were "stupid shit someone dreamed up" and not "stuff you can actually look at and measure" imaginary numbers were originally just a mathematical construct that didn't relate to the world, and you should both realise that,
@20PhantomRegiment09 and realise how incredibly important they now are if you've even done an A level.
You should also realise that the majority of just regular physics is not "stuff you can actually look at and measure" quantum field theory producing virtual particles being the first thing that springs to mind.

@ian0renos When it tries to go through itself like that, it's basically trying to invert the infinitesimally small corner, which is, admittedly, being vaguely described as a crease. Think of the corner as \_/, where the underscore is the corner. It can't be flipped round due to being attached at both ends; like a rope - when the rope is put in the same position, it ends up being twisted if the ends are pulled along one axis without twisting. Hope that's a good explanation :)
I'd like to see the "turn", in physical science, viz. In conclusion we could say that the number of turns of wire around a solenoid is directly related to the magnetic field strength of the solenoid. ...
henry: The SI unit of inductance, equal to one volt in a closed circuit with a uniform rate of change of current of one ampere per second.
Why is a turn so fundamental, where goeth the path of the charge, where does the topology match the physics?
That's mathematicians for you - imagining up totally obtuse games to prove to the world how smart they think they are. Now let's find a solution to something useful..... like world famine or cancer.
@greywolf1958 They try to find pure knowledge. You might think it's useless but it's essential to further our understanding of the physics of not only this universe but also universes much different from ours, such as those with 4 spatial dimensions.
Plus, planes and air travel are based largely on mathematics, yet you wouldn't call them useless.
@greywolf1958 Once we totally understand 2d 3d 4d up to 11d, we will have a great understanding of space and time in the uni/multiverse. So calling this useless is not very smart, it's simply a piece of a bigger thing. You failing to get the bigger concept is the problem here.

@Softairsoft no they didnt, because when they count the curves, its only when the monorail is facing eastward. the ones you're talking about the monorail is facing westward. pay more attention if ur going to learn!
Wow. I am 13 years old and this is just hard enough to understand that i want to keep watching but just easy enough to understand that I can keep up with it.
For some who thinks its theoretical physics. Its not. Topology. Also i cant fap to this

if it can pass through each other, how can it crease?

@RedDaggerXL Doesn't explain it, if it can pass through each other, there wouldn't be enough tension on itself to crease

@NiamOfAsuras, good idea! It can be the material of the 4th dimension!
But there is a problem: you can not take it wherever you want, like in the video. Moreover, the bubble can pop.

Or a 4th spatial dimension!
joelmartens 2 years ago
It is confusing but it does kinda make sense. Too bad we don't have any material that is able to pass through itself like that.
If we had something that was not solid but wasn't liquid or gaseous either.
