ok, the wire going to the parking brake has 12 volts when the key is on. when you apply the parking brake it goes to ground, completing the circuit, turning on the BRAKE light in the dash. on my uv7i the unit must see the 12 volts then ground in a sequence. just grounding the wire won't work. some units may be different tho. it is called a pull-down circuit.

ok this is for anybody who has a indash screen radio i know a easier way no matter what brand you got just hook up the wire for the brake hook up together with the ground black wire and this will work for any screen radio no need for code or bypass switch i know i have been doing installations for 4 years
