  • Great work!

  • AHA

  • see jewellia7777 much better tutorial with instructions

  • @0oAXFORDo0 This isn't a tutorial.

  • i am confused for the things is that a square folded in half or half a square?

  • @dsifan9182 You start with half a square.

  • what size does the paper have to be?

  • @b3a3n3a3n3a3s generally 2:1 ratio, so the length is twice the width. If you have patterns for it they should tell you :)

  • My grandma likes this. She's making these all the time. Since i was 5

  • Music is VERY distracting....

  • This is not so much a how to video as it is ust a show off video. Very impressive though I wanna know hw to put them together lol This was no good. Love your work though :D

  • not origami kirigami

  • @totoyamado it's modular origami

  • @AlexSakusuke yeah

  • @totoyamado you just gave me my new favorite funny sounding word thanks :D

  • @dsifan9182 Kirigami?

  • @totoyamado yess

  • cooool!!!!!

    (*゜∀゜*)♪

    I love it.

  • howlong are you wearing that t-shirt....

  • oh u used glue? i was about to say if we can because my triangles keep popping out and i get so frustrated!!!

  • ossim. pure ossimness

    gj dude

  • how do you put the pieces together?

  • very nice but omg get a life how long u spend on these

  • hola. Disculpa que medida de papel debe tener la hoja?

    Y los pasos?

  • song?

  • Attractive Today by Motion City Soundtrack

  • thx

  • Thanks for telling us exactly how to actually MAKE this!!!! (sarcastic) Your work is nice, but you should do a tutorial on HOW TO make them! Super Job!!

  • hello ... you helped me greatly, has about two days that I try to learn how to make the triangle ... I got a doubt, after almost doubling by the end, is a time when there appears a square fold for the two parties form the triangle. that it doubles enter where? (I am Brazilian and I am using an online translator)

  • how big were the original rectangles?

  • I don't remember exactly. I checked but I don't have any leftover pieces anywhere... I would estimate about 3 inches by 1.5 inches. You can use a piece of square origami paper for a template if you have one, then just fold it equally until you have the size of rectangle you want. (And then cut the rectangles out of course).

  • thanks!

  • im working on a big project!! but i like the way u markered the white paper becuz wite ppr seems 2b the cheapest!!

  • WOW

  • wow nice colection

  • I did swans with these things xD took me a couple months >..> xP

  • took meh a day

    hard work lol :D

  • lol it took about 3 days to me :P

  • omg, I can never have the patience to do those!

You did a really good job :)

  • You make rows with the two points sticking up and then put the next row so a piece sits on one point of two pieces in the row below it. Like you would stack legos for stability. / \

    / \ / \

  • wow owesome

  • glue!!! *gasp*

  • qwsase

  • i dont think id have the patience to do this lol.....BTW what song/band was that...LOVED IT!

  • Attractive Today by Motion City Soundtrack :)

  • sisi te salio muy lindo! pero no compartis como se hace....

  • does anyone know where I can find a book or on the internet instructions on how to make various figures like this? have done origami for years but never tried anything like this before.

  • there is a video in my favorites that shows you how to make a pretty cool swan and how to make the pieces very simular to this but much more pieces

  • errr cant make tooo hard

  • LoooL

  • hi fishtank this is amazing is there any chance you could do a slowed down version similaur to the one made for the origami swan? its because im really tempted to do this but i dont know how many are in each ring and the assembly of the first level seems different to the swan. please reply thanks :)

  • how many times did you fold the paper?

or what sizes did you use?

  • the size doesnt really matter...you can use a printer paper and cut it into 32 pieces or use half a square...like fishtank36 did...

  • oiiii..td bem?viu, essa parte preta...é todo preto ou são só esses rabiscos?..beijos...vlw

  • Maybe little longer than while ^^

Il pay ya for making 1000 of them kk? :D

  • Fish u rullez, r my modular king ;) and btw...

Tobi IT IS origami, but u must first cut to make modules right?

  • thanks :D

You can get pre-cut paper "kits" so it's easier, but I prefer just to use printer paper since it's only abou 3$ for about 200 sheets or so. Just takes awhile to cut them all to size :P

  • thats so kool! i cant do that... T.T

  • "took 6 days to cut, fold and piece it together."

CUT? This isn't origami. The things you made are very impressive, but you shouldn't be calling it origami.

  • It's called MODULAR origami, get off your high horse and appreciate the different forms of this cool art

"Modular origami, or unit origami, is a paperfolding technique which uses multiple sheets of paper to create a larger and more complex structure than would be feasible using single-piece origami techniques."

  • I never said the things you made were not good. They are very good, and I DO appreciate them.

And yes, I DO know what modular origami is. I make them myself. But you are not supposed to cut in real origami. I am just pointing that out.

By cutting, do you mean cutting large pieces of paper into smaller pieces of paper to work with, or do you mean cutting as a step of creating the actual finished product?

Even so, they ARE impressive. You seem to think I do not like them...

  • Sorry, I was just trying to point out that "origami" and "modular origami" are two different forms of folding paper, because I've done "pure origami" also which is no cutting no gluing just folding. But anyways by cutting I meant that I cut a large piece of paper into the smaller pieces to fold, you can fold the pieces without cutting but from the paper I had the pieces would be huge. You can do this also without gluing but I didn't want the pieces to pop out if bumped or dropped.

  • Oh, okay. I misunderstood you. I am sorry as well. Good work on the origami.

  • MAD talent man...MAD talent.

  • hi!!!! i loved you panda and also the song you choose for the video!!! do you know rom who is it?

  • Attractive Today by Motion City Soundtrack

  • 8 ore per fare tutti quei pezzi e poi il risultato è una shit. non ne vale la pena

  • Have you actually seen one in person? They don't look like shit.

  • DUDE I WISH I COULD FOLD ORIGAMI LIKE YOU!! xD

  • omg!how you do like that?

where do u lear about it?

  • I made it =)

  • i made my swan in at least 1.5 days hard =p urs harder =p

  • holy that was sooooooo OMG worthy!!!!!! dam soooo kool

  • COOL!

  • how do you do that? it looks very cool

  • omg i did 2 already and im workin on ma third one already!

  • lolz, my parents thought it was an origami pineapple. COOL

  • mine too...lol...but mine thot it was a pine apple cuz i did the panda green..instead of black...lol

  • ummm...how do you do the first step. after the folding? i get really confused. and how many triangles do you need to use in that step?

  • Theres 23 or 24 of them in a starting circle (or base). I glue them together... a single piece has two points, make sure they are facing out, then once its all together you have to (carefully) bend it into the next position so the points are facing up and the bottom of the base is flat. Good luck.

  • Zaaang! You made those! I want to make one. Whoa. Do you have the book with the instuctions? Thats just amazing. Great job!

  • The first one I made I found a pattern (swan) online by googling, and then once I had figured out that I could make one, I decided to buy some books. The ones I have are 3D Origami and MORE 3D Origami. Good luck :D

  • me isite perder 1.43 segundos de mi vida...

  • do u start wit half a sqaue of piece of paper or a whole square?

  • half a square.

  • um how exactly do u do da first part....um cuz im tryin to do it..but it dont lloook rite?

  • There's a tutorial on how to do it... I believe it's called "Swans in Hundreds of Pieces".

  • wat r u tal;kin bout?

  • *sigh* Search "Swans in Hundreds of Pieces". It will have a full tutorial on how to create the first piece.

  • if u new..its diif...mkay!

  • What are you talking about? It's the same o.o

  • i have finished the video! now i have problems with the copyright of the audio... :S

if you want to wacht it you know what you have to do :P (i have more videos of modular origami)

    happy nice day!

  • you have won me!!!!!! ouch!!

i have done a: swam, butterfly, penwin, tortoise and now i'm doing a panda from a photo that i saw in internet last day.

very nice! (the next time that you make a panda buy black paper :P)

  • I looked for paper :P I can't remember but I don't think I had enough (I bought colour packs and it had only four sheets of square black origami paper) And coloured printer paper is hard to come by where I live and pretty thick :)

Good luck on your panda :D

  • what is the name of this song and who is buy

  • Attractive Today by Motion City Soundtrack

  • DANG!!!

  • amazing u did so manyy

  • how many are there on the first and second layers

  • 24 i think

  • How do you get the original circle? It wants to go one way because the folding of the individual pieces push outward but I tried that and it didn't look right. I can't really tell by your shots.

  • The tips stick out and you have to push them in and hold them for a flat bottom. At about :25 I'm holding it so they are sticking up. I glued the pieces together (so the two tips are out)and so the bottom was easier to make. Hope this helps :)

  • Can you purchase the paper already this size or do you have to cut them from bigger sheets of paper?

  • I think you can buy precut paper, or even kits that have all the paper and instructions for one model. Though I live in a small area so I have no choice but to cut my own from larger sheets (letter size printer paper)

  • dude ur awesome that song is fucking beast, do u no any other ones like it?

  • Last Night, Broken Heart, LGFAUD all by Motion City Soundtrack.

(This song is Attractive Today by Motion City Soundtrack)

  • attractive today by motion city soundtrack :)

  • FREAAAK

  • thats so sweet!

  • lol is great!

  • KOOOLIO!!! my friend has the modular crane birdie thing, which he got from his eight grade friend, who got it from a lady at a festival, who took 4 days to make it. his is smaller than urs, though.

  • Wow that is awsome!

  • that is so cool

  • omg!!!! freaking cool

    Gratz dude its so awesome

    F5

  • dude that's awsome. I made the swan already. What website did u get the directions from?

  • i bought the books from amazon, called 3D origami and MORE 3D origami

  • What does the baby fox look like?

  • its just a smaller version of the large fox (white and blue at the end of the video), about the same size as the owl.

  • wow!!!!!!!!

  • ho-ly-shit

  • three words...omg

  • And thank you for helping me with that ^_^

  • omg....dammmm how long that take u

  • couple hours a day for six days, cutting folding and piecing together

  • that is awsome omg

  • hey i want to learn how to make one for these for my friends bday present. could you provide a video on how to make each piece and send me a copy of the instructions that you found?

  • If you watch the beginning of the video, it shows you how to make the pieces, each piece is exactly the same (except for colour of course). The instructions for this model are in a book called 3D origami or More 3D origami.

  • i dont have time to wait for the book to arrive, other wise i would buy it right away. is it possible for you to take pictures of it and show me?

  • COOOl panda but what was the measurments for each piece

  • each rectangle is around 2x1, doesnt matter... the actual size depends on how big or how small you want to make the model. these were either 1" x 2" or 1.5 by 3 inch.

    thanks for watching :D

  • And thank you for helping me with that ^_^

  • wow nc pandas... can you tell me the song u used for the back ground and tnx for the video i kbow how 2 do it now

  • its Lgfuad by motion city soundtrack, thanks for watching :)

  • actually its Attractive Today by Motion City Soundtrack, sorry about that :)

  • i made the origami 500 piece swan in 2 days so i think i'll give this one a go =]

  • cool, the swan was the first thing i made =D good luck with this one!

  • sick!! how did you make the ears and the eyes?

  • just coloured some paper and glued in on with a whackload of glue :) the book tells you to get googly eyes but i couldn't be bother =P

  • That's amazing!!!! I love pandas!

  • woot that was awesome!! I love pandas! :)

  • Omg, thanks so much for putting this video up Fishtank! I have been trying to make a penguin, and for the whole I was following the wrong instructions and it didn't work. I didn't know that you were suppose to slip the pieces on top of the other :P Now I understand how you make it.

  • instructions would be nice. i found this store that sold precut kits for modular swans, dragons etc, and your panda. but they have instructions in korean. i was lucky to find a video here on youtube for the swan, otherwise i wouldn't have been able to figure out how to assemble it. would you mind putting a video for assembling a dragon and your panda? and other cool thigns that you made? thanks.

  • I would love to, but I think it would be way too long a video. Most of the things on the internet I came across were also in Japanese or Korean so I had to buy some english books off of Amazon (search: 3D Origami). If you know the basic triangle that you need to make... its just a combination of putting them together. The panda is 24 pieces on every row. If you still want, I can try to make a reasonable length video. Cheers.

  • does it take u 6 days to do that? i made a peacock from 3D Origami which have over 1,200 pieces and i did it in 5 days. Not to mention that i spend over 5 hours each day though

  • The first one I made was a 500 piece swan and that took about 40 hours... this one I did casually over 6 days, but I did work on it a bit everyday, not to mention I had to mark out my own pieces of paper from regular size unlined since origami paper is hard to come by here, not to mention expensive :) If I made it smaller it probably only wouldn't have taken as long.

  • Fishtank, you should buy gift wrapping papers instead. though you would have to cut it and that would take about several hours, you can save a lot of money. i brought a 50sq feet of gold wrapping christmas paper that only cost less than 2 bucks since it was already passed that.

  • thanks for the tip! :) that'd be great for the gold I have been looking for, and tons of other colours.

  • That's awesome.
