"Hometown Democracy" is classic tyranny of the majority. It is UN Agenda 21 in disguise. Do your research. If one person can not take or control my property without violating my constitutional right, why can a group of men do it? We are a republic for a reason. Amendment 4 is a tiny step in the direction of more direct democracy. A new veto point to be given to communities affected by major developments looking to put a significant footprint on the voters' community.

@terpis the 4th Amendment is about having the community choose what a property owner can or cannot do with HIS property...not the communities property, HIS.

So, for instance...should i be an interested developer who owns a parcel of land, 100 acres lets say, then the community gets to vote on wether i can re-zone it to residential (from agriculture) in order to build a neighborhood which will support more than 5 homes...

Spare me the "society first" crap...doesnt work in America.

It's a 'community decision' RIGHT NOW as to whether or not a developer or anyone else gets a zoning variance. That's why these guys are so keen to lawyer up, and to dominate the funding of local-level candidacies. They game the system.

Any measure to strip the rightful owner of a parcel of his property rights...taxation through force or limiting usage; is beyond Liberty and beyond Individual Freedom...you cannot argue postively under a Republican form of Government that taxation of property and limiting usage of property is just and necessary...good luck.

Funny you say "Galt" elsewhere...you know, this country was founded on the same principles "Galt" carries in Atlas Shrugged?...yep...free Capitalism; where PRIVATE contracts prevail and not PUBLIC policy...the mixing of the two (thanks 14th Amendment) gave us a unilateral Private contract between an unknowing citizen (me and you) and the "National" Government...much different now than the prosperous days of the old; the income gap has widend and freedom has all but diminished.
