I know some people do it to draft horses because they don't want the tail to get caught in the equipment they use for driving. Docking w/ a vet is a lot less painful than having the tail shredded in chains etc. It also "looks nicer," like breaking the bone in saddlebreds so that the tail sticks up/cutting the tendon.
Well thats fine, I mean its their choice, but couldnt they just braid up the hair? And they cant get rid of flies if theve had it, not unless they have a long-tailed barn buddy. I dont think its a nice thing to do, especially how Saddlebreds ( I think) have all their feet grown out and the saddle so far back and all, and the long harsh bits they use for showing. Biut like I said its their choice and their animal.
I agree, I don't think docking is good. I have a draft horse (a percheron) and his tail was cut short when I got him, but not docked! It's now growing out and he looks so good! Haha
I didnt his breeders did. They did because he has some monkey mouth and OCD in his hocks- therefore not able to prove himself with the OCD and not worth breeding.
They breed good stock, he is it, but not stallion quality :)
what is monkey mouth sorry never heard of that..and my percheron cross has something like OCD in his hocks too..but we ride him and he is great =)
