  • Sanda fighters are not particularly good strikers compared to boxers and Muay Thai fighters. They usually try to take boxers or Muay Thai guys down with takedowns. The problem here is Jens Pulver is skilled in wrestling from his MMA experience and couldn't be taken down. So Sanda is forced to use their inferior striking. Result: Sanda got KTFO!

  • too weak.....

  • 555

  • f uck off sanda.

  • I think the sanda fighter has better technique in many things the difference is that he wasted his energy throwing many kicks and he didnt fight with intelligence, on the other hand Jens knew how to use all his skills in the right way, he was smarter than the sand fighter

  • This is shootboxing in Japan. In shootboxing you can also do takedowns and standing submissions. A cool sport which is getting better. Look it up!

  • You don't need to kick when you have a left that's capable of collapsing stars.

  • usa fighters seems a more skilled boxer...but he cant kick.

  • I am a Chinese, and i think in Sanda field, American fighters tends to firstly defend and then attack compared with chinese ones, a very smart strategy.

It seems that in this match, Jens has more strength than our warrior

  • Liang has some vicious side kicks!

  • great kicks by chang though Mean left hook of pulver , Geez

  • it seems the asian guys strategy of blocking jens left hooks with his liver failed

  • @2fnez Ahhh.... The ol' liver block. Doesn't always work, does it?

  • @TheKKK192 Time to correct you then. ;-)

He didn't block any of them for as far as I could see. He was just lucky the other guy wasn't capable of making good use of them. Liang should've gotten a good boxing base to withstand the pressure, and then set up combinations with lowkicks.

Pulver stands like a boxer, with his front leg heavy. That way is very easy to score lowkicks on his lead leg. Nobody's ever won a kickboxing match while that disadvantaged in legkicks.

  • Jen Pulver can take many blows the asian guy needed to do a take down instead of fighting him with punches and kicks. His punches and kicks wasn't strong enough for a guy who has strong endurance and duration. Cung le is stronger his kicks and punches are more powerful. He needed to do the art mix it up if something isn't working for him.Like the japanese guy who beat anderson silva with a sissor leg take down.

  • @petshopish it's a kickboxing match not mma.

  • "Geese you guy's are dumb?" How should I respond? Yes, Jens Pulver was the better fighter this time. But don't count out Sanshou. It's very effective. Oh, and last time I checked, UFC didn't fight. That's like saying the Rock's tag team partner is "the people". It was Jens Pulver that fought and won.

  • Pro wrestling fake fighting is better, why would you want to fight for real when you could fake fight geese you guy's are dumb.

  • Wow, the Chinese dude could sure hand it out but sure couldn't take it....

People don't realize how important durability is....you've got to be tough....

  • UFC owned sanda , just wow !

  • @MechPhantom "UFC" is not a sport. And it's more luck than skill this knockout. Notice how Pulver has a really heavy front leg? Notice how he consistently walks into those sidekicks? Typical boxer's mistakes. He could've been defeated on lowkicks, or maybe a good frontkick in his face would soften him up.

Fortunately for Pulver however, Liang was nowhere near that well-rounded a fighter.

  • @Blahb27 haha kinda true but in this fight the better man won , simple as that , jens just have knockout power thats all, the china man just dont lol, see u man

  • Dai Chang "Da Gook" Liang.

  • 70% to 80% of those sanda fighters will lose if they fight at shootboxing, they win only by bias sanda rule.a fair rule will make china a loser.

  • @unimaculata its the other way around you moron. the rules of shootboxing favours the sanda fighter

  • @wiredtoawall hi loser, the rules of shootboxing do not favor sanda fighters.a very short clinch would make a sanda fighter winner, but with a longer clinch the sanda will lose.A very short clinch did save chiness fighters Bc if the sanda can not take the opponent down, the short time prevents the other guy to strike back.

  • @unimaculata The shorter time means more opportunity to throw the guy you fucking tool. If you ever did wrestling or bjj you would know that throwing a guy can be done while they are trying to hit you.

  • @wiredtoawall Yes,the throwing is done while the opponent in trying to attack you,and if the throw in not done during these fractions of second that means the throwing failed. When Thai vs Chiness the sanda fighters and juges do capitalize this opportunity to beat the thai. The throw is perfectly executed the chiness takes points and when the attemped failed the Ref break them. That means the thai ca not attack the chiness. No clinch the chiness will lose.longer clinch the chiness will lose too.

  • On my opinion the problem with this chinese fighter is not the sidekicks but the fact that there is no power (or at least not enough power) in them. See how powerful are the punches of a short guy like Jens Pulver, there is no way the chinese could compete with him. All respect to Jens Pulver, this is an exemple for a lot of people, as a fighter and as a man.

  • Man, Dai was doing a pretty good job of keeping Pulver out with those sidekicks. Just got wrecked in the pocket because he couldn't control the ring.

  • uppercut at liver?

  • LIVER SHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I fought Cung ...Side kicks are NOT useless ....I love all of the philosophy from non fighters ....Go fight and find out

  • Jens Pulver is good, but occasionally he drops into an MMA stance in the fight. Not a good habit(in a purely stand-up fight, I mean). Meanwhile Dai Chang Liang forgot he had hands...

  • @thecheeze9001 lol ur comment is so true

  • he kicks like a fukin horse lol

  • sidekick is powerful ,but the chinese hat no good feeling of distans

  • man, mr. Dai Liang has got some FAST side kicks, i don't see many that quick to be honest these days

  • I have to say the chinese fighter has good skills, but week strength, and not good at boxing. The weekness also appears in most chinese sanda fighters. They all have good skills, in kicking and throwing, but the power is not good enough to knock the opponent out. They can get lots of scores, but difficult to KO the opponents. Hope the sanda fighters can impove in this aspect.

  • @bluesky605 100% agree. They display such great techniques, but that's often no match for the brutal striking power of EU/USA/RU fighters.

  • oof liver punch

  • that asian dude had a quik ass pushin kick thoug !

  • liver shoot.... :P

  • Chinese kungfu rabbit style. RUN RABBIT RUN

  • beautiful body shots!

  • Population China 1,325,639,982 - 2008 I don't remember if any or ever have world Champion tittle in fighting sports. Only good actor Bruce Lee and Jet Le. I like Jackie Chang he did his own stunt.

  • @numthai68 china won gold medal in the 2004 olympics think it was 1 gold 1 silver or maybe 2 gold 1 silver cant recall. mix martial arts aint popular in china yet thats why zero mma fighter came out of china n do well but one day it will

  • @zhejuny oh im talkin about boxing

  • @zhejuny ya see you are correct and in a real fight with no shit rules ancient chinese art of fighting with some strength can take out most styles of any fighting

  • damn little chinese, he had a good master of leg kicks didn´t he??? what do you thing that happened....he got a broken rib in the first left hook and Pulver re-kicked in the broken rib?? or was he just hurted??? I didn´t know Pulver till 15 minutes ago, but he´s got an iron f****** hook!!!

  • body shots

  • Cung Le is a good fighter, he have a good boxing but the boxing of Cung Le doesn't so good as the boxing of Professional Kickboxers as Ernest Hoost and Peter Aerts.

  • nice body shots

  • master Cung Lee (非常的好 ..太喜欢)。。is very good figheters .

Dai Chang Liang should study boxing - and it would make many progress in the tournaments

    再见and 谢谢

  • 你们好 Dai Chang Liang is very good in the kicks, the "chinese Sanda fights" trains well the techniques of feet and struggle/shuijiao/roudao but unfortunately it has some problems with the fists/boxing...improved the fists/box they would be excellent fighters.

the "Chinese Sanda" trains well the back and the tendons of the legs.

  • yeah all sanshou fighters need is some boxing. they have everything else down packed

  • @ dss103 i totally agree with u on that, i train in sanshou and its awesome!!! however i do feel the need to do more boxing on the side so my hands catch up to my feet...

  • If you think sanda is a joke, that gives me idea of your experience sibalnom. Look at Cung Lee who fights in UFC and he's recently with Strikeforce, he is Sanshou champion and everybody knows that it's all about skills, personality and hard training, not as much down to the type of art as itself.

  • Cung Le does not fight int he UFC and its not LEE but LE

  • Ye you're right, Cung Le, not Lee, but he's invited to UFC by Dana White now.

  • @kalkokalko i usually don't reply to ppl, but why the hell would you comment that Cung Le fights for UFC? where the hell did you hear that?

  • @kalkokalko

When has Cung Lee fought in the UFC?

  • i fucking dick on ufc fighters in 2014

  • Pens ur move totally great man ...relax and movements ...UFC truly undefeated ...

  • ThIS guy is The UFC fighter man dang why U want to fight wit him for dang are u Crazy ?????

  • sanda/sanshou fighters, this is what happens when they fight with kickboxing rules... sanda... what a joke

  • Do anybody know of some good fights i can watch if i want to see some submissions in shootboxing?

  • Comment removed

  • anything with the shamrock brothers and with sakuraba

  • none of them has ever fought shootboxing, which is kickboxing with throws done within 3 secs of clinching and standing subs

  • you obviously know nothing

  • what do ye think shootboxing is?

  • fedor hes fights r the best 2 watch

  • I really don`t like the way Dai Chang Liang fights. It just gets on my nerves. If I ever fought the guy I`d probably get myself disqualified after I kicked him in the nuts/headbutted him.

  • lmao

  • y are ppl hating on the sidekick? first off this is shootboxing. next the sidekick is an awesome kick. u guys just suck at it/ fought ppl who suck with it. just look up cung le. hes awesome with that kick

  • The problem is what was noted in the intro. Dai Chang Liang had excellent kicks, but horrid cardio and no other techniques to back them up. Against a fighter of Pulver's caliber (at this point he was 6-0 as a pro boxer including an appearance on the old USA Tues Night Fights show in addition to his MMA), kicks alone wouldn't cut it.

  • oh, i was just talking about ppl hating on the sidekick but good eye and yeah jens pulver's good!

  • krassavaa!!!!!

  • to club4ghz, hi man show me ur photo, tell me where u are If u are not a pussy. I L findu.

  • you got it

  • Why don't you get out there and fight him then, club4gayz

  • tell me how get to there

  • lmao club4gayz. i dont know wat ur arguing about but thats hilarious

  • what kind of pussy are u, mate. you want get there. itz in Japan. got money, man?? u know where japan is?? I am tell u where all the yellow pussys are.

  • jens pulver is very strong

  • American fighter is very self confident it is great

  • side kicks are so fuckin useless

  • Mystis -- this guy had good side kicks (as they go), but as you said they are useless. In the kicking world side kicks are the door-way to ever-greater futile kicks, hahahaha.

If I was the asian guy I would head to my local Thai School and seek out Sakuraba -- he's coordinated and kicks hard, just bad habbits.

  • you think sidekicks are useless?you havnet seen enough kickboxing bouts dude people have been knocked out with sidekicks in many kickboxing bouts .Cung Le used side kicks to a great effect in Sanda and MMA.Too many people who dont fight make comments.instead of making comments compete in local Kickboxing (not Muaythai)but kickboxing where its a mix of styles (including Muaythai) you will learn more about fighting.

  • Naw man I didnt mean to sound disrespectful just wanted to to shed some light because maybe you havent seen a fight with a sidekick landed sorry if I came off that way.Sanda is Chinese Kickboxing the style the Asian dude is using.Looks like regualar kickboxing to the untrained eye but diff the stance is more to the side, hands held slightly lower, kicks are traditional kungfu which are good I think their punches are a mess. as far as rules they use sanshou rules striking with throws.

  • side kicks are great but alot of mma fighters train muay thai or striking and muay thai doesnt realy use side kicks. which is sad

  • @georgeee1 robin is the best sidekick of all time

  • @georgeee1 wow i just replyed to a comment over a year old, my bad

  • @georgeee1 i totally fucking agree, watching typical leg kicks being thrown, especially in the muay thai competitions and MMA organisations such as the UFC makes me sick. it really makes me mad only to see two good fighters in their stand up make MMA very interesting such as Lyoto Machida and Cung Le. i always ask myself just why can't their be more fighters like Lyoto Machida and Cung Le

  • @georgeee1 youll rarely if ever see a KO from a sidekick as its nearly always a bodykick and more of a push on impact.Cung lee is great but the kicks that he has more success with are spinning back kicks not side kicks, side kicks keep and cover distance ,theyre not devastating.Ive kickboxed and done ITF for over 2 decades

  • @billysue2 Cung Le uses a spinning side kick...

  • thats an ignorant comment. how can you say side kicks are useless? look at fighers like cung le he uses side kicks all the time and effectively might I add.

  • wooops didnt see the other comments already mentioning cung le lol my bad

  • yea join a gym hey? have been training mma for 5 years muay thai for 7 and wing chun again for 7. Have had 2 mma fights so far and have been competing in thai since my second year . Other than that ive been working in the security industry since ive basically started training I know about mma my friend

  • they can catch your foot with a front kick a lot more easy. I've never seen any front kicks on tv. It can also depend where you kick them on the leg causing the muscle to contract and tighten making ti a lot harder to move and put weight on.

  • Nah... they can be okay.

  • Side kicks sucks, and i have been doing muay thai for a lot of time and i have allways see them useless

  • Everything works if you work it. Any style it all depends on the athlete.

  • side kicks are useless in MMA buddy... by throwing side kicks so many times like this guy did u're giving free take downs everytime...

  • my comment and point of view on sidekicks is coming from more of a realistic self defence point of view. in a way your correct however sidekicks can be very effective it depends on the fighter. People who train them obviously can get good at them. Ive landed them against some solid thai fighters in the ring and have found that they can be more powerful than front kicks.

  • It's called MIXED martial arts meaning it's MIXED. Anything you that works for a fighter is ok. Again that's MMA not wrestling they don't just lay on the floor. Look at the champs in every division of the UFC all of them are STRIKERS not wrestlers STRIKERS!

  • when did i say anything about being a wrstler or a striker? lol w/e end of the conersation... don't wanna waste my time here... thanx

  • Lesnar. GSP.

  • Cung Le seemed make good use of them, not to mention Anderson Silva has some pretty good things to say about them in his book. BTW San Da fighters use side kicks because they are harder to catch than front kicks. I think the lack of side kicks in MMA hs far more to do with the fact that most of them train in muay thai which has a side kick but does not use it that often.

  • That only means u don't know what to do with them...

  • jens is a good person god bless him

  • @powergnome35 fuk that emo bitch, he plays too dirty

  • I love body shots

  • pulver got dai changs ass!!

  • Did I hear the commentators say BJ Penn several times?

  • Well you have to remember, Pulver beat BJ for the LW crown before the UFC went into its little austerity period (and the LW division was suspended). Obviously, beating BJ is serious business so they used it to hype him up.

  • that was a beatiful superman punch when he faked that kick

  • nice liver shots :P

  • the choke that he tapped cub out with is a fucken anaconda choke dumb fucks

  • Another example of Sanshou having weak boxing.

  • First of all, it's a "guillotine" not a "guillatine."

    Second of all, it's a "D'arce" not a "darse."

Third of all, it's "fuckin'" not "fuccin."

Fourth, how can you tell he's going for a D'arce. From the POV of the camera you can't tell if he has the arm trapped or not. It looks more like a guillotine.

Lastly, you're fucking retarded for the above reasons.

  • wow that's pretty weak man, what are you like the spelling and gramar fairy! Get a fucking grip. So he spelled something wrong. Who gives a rip!

  • thats not an rnc or guillatine its a dars choke you fuccin idiots

  • when he said guillotine he meant thats what cubby swanson tapped out to

  • Etown, are you attacking the one who lost? The fact is, sanshou has a restrictive ruleset. Even though CMA have that choke too, it's not done outside an MMA ruleset because MMA is still emerging, not very famous. The first MMA fights took place 2003 I remember. In Chinese MMA, kicking grounded opponents is allowed, don't ask why!

  • the first MMA fights did not take place in 2003 it was long before. and your right it is emerging but as the fastest growing sport in the world. so actually it is pretty famous now

  • wow, you really need to get a lesson in mma history. The first ufc's aired in 92 or 93 I think. Brazil has been doing Vale tudo at least since the 80's.

  • I'm talking about the MMA in China.

  • The Chinese have been doing it for thousands of years before that. The new "Communist Government" banned it from 1950-1980 allowed it again (pure bare knuckle) from 1980-1982, and then banned it again till 2003 because too many people were getting hurt. These fights were pure bare knuckle and you can actaully search them on YouTube. Search "Chinese Martial Arts: Combat and Applications Volume 1" They have clips of these fights, very interesting.

  • actually mma technically could be traced to early days of REAL pro wrestling with catch rules...but vale tudo fights in brazil have been going on for at least 60 yrs or so

  • The Japanese (J-Vale Tudo, ,Pancrase, Shooto, Pride) side does come from Catch (and Japanese kickboxing), but the UFC side of things comes from Brazillian Vale Tudo only.

  • that is probably not a D'ARCE choke... you can't see.. not that you even know what you are talking about anyways. i would assume it is a guillotine just because that is what fighters do from that position 99.9% of the time.. moron.

  • John, that was a guillotine not an RNC, dumbass.

  • Not enough sidekicks thrown from the guy in the red trunks god damn!

  • That guy had great kicks but he relies to much on them and Pulver was to much for him.

  • 2004 Sanda champion?? who said? joke

  • yeah. The Chinese guy just dont know what to do when Jens get close.

  • man the chinese fighter was good alot of strenght but thats jens pulver hes a world class striker. watch WEC on wendsday.

  • LAWLZ.

    Chinese guy got worked.

    Nice sidekicks buddy.

  • i dont get it here. how come Ive never seen a knockout by sidekick. My sidekick is freaking powerful than my other kicks. U got the answer?

  • couldn't say really. maybe your unique. my round kick is a lot more powerful than my side kick. maybe you just have a better side kick than most people. i can also kick higher with my roundckick too, so thats usually what i use for high kicks. but youre right, a side kick should be able to knock someone out.

  • killer left hook man Jens is a bad man!

  • Seriously, stop the racist comments. Pulver won the fight, so what. Whatever, if it were a Japanese Chinese or Russian or whatever, its a friggin' fight. Who cares what nationality they are?

  • Liu Hailong... Zou Shiming... The Art of War Chinese fighters...

There are plenty man. Maybe not top class level, but there are good ones.

    Why do stupid people exist?

  • bruce lee bitch

  • KO via body shot...good 'ol jens.

  • i think he hit the chin

  • Is Shootboxing an independent fighting style/combat sport or i just a form of competition between martial artists?

  • Its an art and organization that promotes shootboxing bouts

  • Liang definately isn't a Korean letter.

And if Jens fought real shoot boxer like Andy Souwer, he would get killed.

  • HAHAHAHAHHAAHA. sure. but jens would beat him in everything else

  • And if Souwer fights Jens in MMA, Boxing, folkstyle, freestyle, or greco roman wrestling, or submission grappling, Souwer loeses all of them badly.

  • MMA & grappling ok, but souwer's a good boxer...

  • yea yea yea "if he fought a real _____ he woulda gotten killed" i hear this alllllll the time when your boy gets his ass kicked. get over the loss cry baby

  • standing submissions are allowed with boxing gloves?

easy to allow things that are not possible...

  • Can you explain then the submission in 2:10? Not all the submissions need fingers.

  • It looks like a guillotine choke to me.

  • Liver Shot

  • You tend to notice this a lot from Chinese mainland fighters. They're able to beat most of the guys they face in Chinese style vs. style matches, but lose to opponents with more experience. In the case of Sanda vs. Lil Evil, it was an example of superior technique in all facets of fighting overcoming a Sanda fighter used to throwing around inexperienced opponents.

  • but those styles vs styles were national matches both country sending a top team this shoot box event was just for the goodwill of promoting sanda not to defend national pride so they sent an amatuer team but neways kudos to the shoot boxer 4 winning

  • I'd kick cmiller's ass in a fight.

  • those punches were body shots??? dude i thought he knocked him out, damn thats some serious power on that left hand impressive.

  • I'll take the Redneck over the Chi-Com any day.

  • That left hand of Pulver's is devistating.

  • good fight

  • The guy in red is a sanda/sanshou fighter

This just proves that the bodyshot to the liver is effective especially from a lefthanded striker

  • these guys just like to fight. its all about heart. its not about whos the better race.

  • Thank You NerdPlay!

  • Look, Enough With The Racial Shit. I'm White And From The South, Not All Of Us Are Racist Or Trash. And, Unless You Can Prove To Me THat Jens Pulver Is Trash I Belive I'm Gonna Go With Him. Further More, cmiller, You Shouldn't Be Allowed To Have Rights If You're Just Gonna Insult Everyone Like That.

  • LIVAAAAAAAA SHAAAAAAHHT!

  • liverrr shotttt

  • fuck you the rednecks crackers mother fuckers genocide and murderers, shoot all of them
