well buy an expensive ball if you want, but unless you have an honest average of 210 it doesn't matter what you throw. too many PBA posers in this post
I was a mid 140 average bowler when I used a plastic ball. I moved up to a Storm PBA Eraser 7 years ago then up to a Storm VG 2.5 years ago. With the Eraser my average jumped to 160's and with the VG I am now in the 180's. Had I never gotten a stronger more advanced ball I would have stayed in the 120's. Is this video for real? It should be titled How not to become a better bowler.
Is he joking, everybody will tell you, you need to hook the ball to start posting better averages, but then this guy rolls up and tells you not to buy a ball that actually hooks at all? Why? Because you only have a 120 average, SO you never learn the hook at all... great job.
@nso1256 I've never really had a problem with a ball rolling out, and I've had a lot of high end Columbia balls. The Pure Physics is a really strong ball and I've never had a problem with Carry, about the same as my old Invasion.
I'm sorry, but that's really not true.. If you want a ball with better angle, get a pearl, if you want it to be smoother, a solid of hybrid. I've thrown all 3 of those companies and averaged the same, even with my rev rate.
When your looking for a ball, choose how much you want it to hook, less money balls tend to hook less, more money balls tend to hook more, but you can easily get a ball to hook a lot with the drilling.
Just because your a 120 average doesn't mean you can't buy a higher end ball. Always do your homework online, a ball for heavy oil will hook more than a ball for drier lanes.Check drilling patterns or talk to your pro shop. And if you are looking for more pin action get a ball with a lower Radius of Gyration, lower means a ball is more center heavy(earlier roll) while higher radius is more cover heavy(longer length).
So you must spend 200 bucks if you average 200. That's been my problem then. I'll have to spend more dough. I was wondering why my 200 average was getting down to the 190's with the 190 dollar ball!
Buying a plastic ball is a good idea, because it helps with natural roll. It will not give bowlers a false sense of ball reaction especially on dry lanes.

Is he crazy? You want to choose the heaviest ball you can... that's it! Heavy ball + maximum velocity = a strike every frame. He's trying to talk 120 bowlers into remaining 120 bowlers all their lives. I think not... if a 120 bowler tries to bowl at the alley where I bowl, we make run him out of their pretty quick.
people often bowl heavier balls slower so your advice is completely flawed i use a 14lb virtual gravity and am currently averaging 213 with it, using a heavier version of that ball would NOT improve my average it would just increase the likelihood of my injuring myself
@littlenooblet not necessarily true. a heavier ball often carries better than a lighter one. if you switched up to a 15 lb virtual, you would probably kick out more corner pins then you do now, and increase your average 5-6 sticks
yeah. buying a plastic ball will not help improve your average. And buying a reactive ball when you have a 200 average? How are you going to get that average when you are throwing a plastic bowling ball?
i wish my bowling alley had a dale jr. ball... or any ball like an 8 ball.. we just have branded balls like tropical storm, clash, bash, hammer, ect. nothin too designy =\
This guy is not a good bowler! I am only 13 years old and I've played for two years with a coach and i can tell that my bowling is WAY better than his.
