It almost makes one forget that in 2001 (for at least the 2nd time in U.S. history) the U.S. Electorial Collage (who were controlled by the Republicans, at the time) went against the popular vote of U.S. voters, and apointed Bush Jr. as president.
@SinnFein4ever: The Democrats were using the terrorism that groups like the Ku Klux Klan to claw their way back to power. The supposed "popular vote" for Cleveland was as phony as the "popular vote" for Algore in Fla. It was clear case of fraudulent ballot stuffing in Fla. Why did the Dems put Mayor Daly of Chicago in charge? He had experience w/ this sort of thing. Why did they only want to do a "recount" in counties they control? They wanted to "find" ballot boxes that had been "overlooked."
@VictorLepanto Why did the Republicans put George Bush in charge when he clearly lost the popular vote in 2004? Oh, because the stupid electoral college screwed us over! That's why! The electoral college is the most undemocratic part of our electoral process. Why was this fraudulent behavior overlooked? Because the Republicans wanted it to be.
@GFedFan: I don't believe that he did lose the popular vote. If the Dems really won the popular vote, they wouldn't have put Mayor Daly, out of Chicago, in charge of the "recount." If Gore really cared about a complete accounting of all votes. He wouldn't have wanted to restrict the recount to Dem. controlled counties in Florida. This was a scheme to stuff the ballot. Like the way they stuffed the ballot for that crook Frankin in Minnesota.
@GFedFan: Do you think Al Franken really won anything? Why put a person like Daily in charge of something like this "recount" business? If people don't fill out their ballots properly that is their business. I still wonder about one case that typically was never properly investigated. A Dem. agent was discovered w/ a voting machin in his car. I can imagine them sticking 10 cards at a time in the machines. Non wonder all the "dangling chads." Given the Dems history of ganster politics.

The history of the Dems., from being apologists for slavery, to being protectors of the Jim Crow system in the South, to the gangster politics of the likes Daly & the Obamation & all of Chicago & other places. The Dems have had long, broad, & deeply corrupting influence on American politics.
@SinnFein4ever I'm not calling you stupid or anything, but it's not possible that we could have an ellection in 2001. We have an election every 4 years. I think you mean the election of the year 2000. (The year the world "ended")

Glenn Beck is a moron.
The Superdelegates recognise that their power is undermocratic and thus far have never felt the winning candidate was bad enough for them to vote against and try and swing it their way. Primaries are not part of the official election process. The party can nominate however they want. It is wise to get insight from the Democratic public when choosing your nominee, but it is not the end-all factor. Otherwise you might end up with someone too liberal to win the general. No party is obligated to use any particular method in choosing their candidate; and you can always run as NPA. With this, it gets rid of the party primaries and the superdelegates. The funny part about the jungle primary, it was used to keep repulicans from growing in the "democratic" Louisiana by former Gov. Edwin Edwards.

And of course all you can do is rant about him. Why don't you use some solid facts about at least one thing he's said that's wrong? I can't think of anything, can you? And I want an actual quote, not a pathetic misinterpratation.
superdelegates are "senior party members," which is short for anybody they can find to get more delegates. Representatives, governors, senators, and other such people usually picked as superdelegates.
Yes, but how are they picked, i mean the list reads like a bunch of b movie celebrities. I agree though the whole thing is completely wrong. No integrity to the process at all.
In fact the GOP does the same thing. So why do yo call it the history of the DNC super delegates? That's your biggest problem, you don't tell the whole story. That's why you lose the respect of everyone who supports Ron Paul.
Yes, the GOP also uses unpledged delegates. The reason why the Democrats are so controversial is that their "superdelegates" make up 20% of all votes at the convention and can have a huge effect on the race, while the delegates for the GOP are almost all pledged by the primary process rather than at the delegate's discretion.
Please tell me why "super delegates" should even exist? You all act like there is no problem here. WTF?! Why do we even bother with elections if the "super delegates" have the last say? Look what is happening, people. Elections are becoming irrelevant. Why do you think cynicism is so high? Voters are being disenfranchised by both parties. If you think this is okay, then something is wrong with you all as well.
superdelegates truly are a slap in the face to democracy. i could maybe see having 5-10 superdelegates for really influential party members, but the 100s of superdelegates chosen by each party is sickening. it proves that the government does not trust the ordinary people to make the right choice.
I heard this on the radio a while back and again on TV with the cartoon. This gets funnier every time I see/hear it. Especially the Hannah Montana part. You go, Glenn!
Glenn is hilarious. I was on the floor when i saw this... Makes you wonder how anyone can vote for obama or hillary...The donkey head is just to funny..
Whereas the repubs just give the nod to whoever happens to suck the least. I really love it when republicans call dems elite. The party led by the idiot son of a second generation millionaire politician, who got into Yale and Harvard on legacy considerations, who got out of his military service through his connections, whose family friends bailed him out of his numerous failed "bidnesses". Yeah, the dems are elite. Don't even get started on 100 million McCain, that old beer gigolo. Too funny!
I get the feeling that you don't like President Bush, and thats fine most of his own party doesn't ether. However the Republican party isn't lead by just one person. Also just because McCain has lots of money doesn't make him an elitist.
McCain wails about Obama not understanding the common man b/c an 18 cent reduction in gas will not really help our bottom line. The guy who uses the "Socialized Medicine" boogie-man every time someone mentions that EVERY other industrialized country has better health care than us,while he has been on "socialized medicine" his ENTIRE LIFE! Are you kidding me? He,like most repubs, consistently votes to protect corporate profits, not the common man. 2 kinds of repubs: Rich and suckers. Which are you?
listen, you don't have to be rich or dumb to be a republican. i take offense at the prospect that everyone who sees the world differently than you is a troll. socialized medicine, in case you've never heard of the UK or Canada, is a ridiculous concept.especially the way that clinton and obama propose it. i don't support john mccain either. both parties are corrupt, and neither have the right idea. i wish that a decent independent candidate would run for once
"Socialized med" or universal health care, is overwhelmingly supported by those countries that have it. People bitch about it(like all govt)support it. Read up on it (unbiased reports) The prob I have with the neocons is they don't practice what they preach. Good governance? (the CEO pres?)Small govt? (largest govt expan since Johnson)Fiscal restraint?(record pork/deficit)self reliance(ie no handouts for people, but billions in corp welfare)etc. I agree-only 2 parties is a recipe for corruption
Finally, someone explains this whole Super Delegate fiasco, making complete sense, in a cartoon, nonetheless... Aren't we all just living in a cartoon lately, anyway? Sure seems like it, thanks to the SuperDelegates!
I never knew that, this is something else... this makes me think the Democrats are... western party of communists... lol I mean... they try to control us like were some.. pieces to a checker board game they sit around and play, they act like they own us, I dont like them
I would like to know why nobody was showing up to the primaries when the people were given the power to vote... that's strange. (especially if there are raison scones)
A crappy way to find good candidates

Please tell me why "super delegates" should even exist? You all act like there is no problem here. WTF?! Why do we even bother with elections if the "super delegates" have the last say? Look what is happening, people. Elections are becoming irrelevant. Why do you think cynicism is so high? Voters are being disenfranchised by both parties. If you think this is okay, then something is wrong with you all as well.
bbburton 3 years ago
superdelegates truly are a slap in the face to democracy. i could maybe see having 5-10 superdelegates for really influential party members, but the 100s of superdelegates chosen by each party is sickening. it proves that the government does not trust the ordinary people to make the right choice.
Georgepatton3 3 years ago 2
But there are only about 10% un-pledged delegates in the RNC, as apposed to almost 40% in the DNC.

both parties suck and in love with the military industrial complex

That has to be the most gibberingly wrong explaination of why there are SDs ever.
1257Dark 3 years ago
Would you care to explain why there are SDs then? TY in advance.

I heard this on the radio a while back and again on TV with the cartoon. This gets funnier every time I see/hear it. Especially the Hannah Montana part. You go, Glenn!
TheBuck26 3 years ago 4
Glenn is hilarious. I was on the floor when i saw this... Makes you wonder how anyone can vote for obama or hillary...The donkey head is just to funny..

What??? How???
carpenter6314 3 years ago
So essentially the Democrats aren't very democratic and by doing this thing with the SD they confirm that their party is indeed elitist in nature.
117wolf 3 years ago 8
Whereas the repubs just give the nod to whoever happens to suck the least. I really love it when republicans call dems elite. The party led by the idiot son of a second generation millionaire politician, who got into Yale and Harvard on legacy considerations, who got out of his military service through his connections, whose family friends bailed him out of his numerous failed "bidnesses". Yeah, the dems are elite. Don't even get started on 100 million McCain, that old beer gigolo. Too funny!
stealth63 3 years ago
I get the feeling that you don't like President Bush, and thats fine most of his own party doesn't ether. However the Republican party isn't lead by just one person. Also just because McCain has lots of money doesn't make him an elitist.
117wolf 3 years ago
McCain wails about Obama not understanding the common man b/c an 18 cent reduction in gas will not really help our bottom line. The guy who uses the "Socialized Medicine" boogie-man every time someone mentions that EVERY other industrialized country has better health care than us,while he has been on "socialized medicine" his ENTIRE LIFE! Are you kidding me? He,like most repubs, consistently votes to protect corporate profits, not the common man. 2 kinds of repubs: Rich and suckers. Which are you?
stealth63 3 years ago
aye, fuck you you liberal hippie democrat
EvernhamMotorsports9 3 years ago
Kiss my ass you ridiculous troll
stealth63 3 years ago
listen, you don't have to be rich or dumb to be a republican. i take offense at the prospect that everyone who sees the world differently than you is a troll. socialized medicine, in case you've never heard of the UK or Canada, is a ridiculous concept.especially the way that clinton and obama propose it. i don't support john mccain either. both parties are corrupt, and neither have the right idea. i wish that a decent independent candidate would run for once
Georgepatton3 3 years ago
