well i got the same problem with my xbox i tried to fix it n then when i gave it to a xbox specialist to fix it..he told me that when the update gets stopped the keys gets lost and its hard to fix it but he said you have to change the circuit and then modify it again n thats the only way how it'll get fine n i told him to fix it what ever it costs...damn it if i had watched this video like 2 days before i would have got my xbox fixed and i wouldn't need to pay then specialist...;( damn

Thanks mate, my 9 year old had put the new COD in his unit and then pulled the disc out before the update completed, he didn't tell me this but complained about getting the update error you mentioned. I tried applying a system update from XBox.com on both burned cd and usb without result and then found your video here. After quizzing my son about what he did I then put the new COD disc in, the update continued and it's fine now. Many thanks for taking time to pass along your solution.

If this doesn't work it may be one or two things.

You put a new game in and it started the update but then fail and gave you this failure; problem: dvd drive is damaged or flashed and the update will not go any further, if your using a game simply reflash your drive to stock or replace it with a drive that hasn't been flashed doesn't matter if it's the same drive all you need is the update. If it's a game your loading then clean the game off and try again, if it doesn't work, get a new drive.

YEEEY I fixed it in like 5 min. actually I paid a guy 35 bucks to fix it,the thing is he just updated the console to a new firmware and THEN installed the update from a game/usb/dvd,because if you do it the other way around you won't be able to play backup games,hope this helps :)

I don't do that it just says play dvd ,now ...the thing with this one is I can't do the thing you are saying ,because the second I turned off my xbox it started reading the disc as an dvd file,not a game,so no updates for me...I can't put in my Iso disc because I got the big ass Update error on my screen ! So fuck it I have to put in the original disc and freaking re-flash it ! TNX allot MICROSOFT !

ok guys i found the fix. Your console had a problem during the update process. Carefully follow these steps: 1.Remove any disc from the console. 2.Leave the disc tray open. 3.With the disc tray open, remove the power cord from the back of the console. 4.Plug the power cord back into the console. Do not turn the console on yet. 5.Gently push the disc tray about half-way back into the console. 6.Push the power button on the console. It worked for me. Source: Microsoft

@demonsmnfbs5899 u gotta keep trying until it reapplies the update. put in the game that messed up ur xbox. restart xbox and hold sync. or hold sync and reboot. i can't confirm which way i did it but i know one of them did. i'm going more towards powering and then holding the sync button on the xbox console. if it doesn't work from trying many times.

get a usb flash drive. should be about 8 or 10 dollars. just need a 2gig (is what i have) format the usb flash drive to fat32. download the update file from xbox site and add the folder to the root of ur formatted usb flash drive. plug the flash drive to the console also put the game that messed it up, inside. reboot ur xbox. the moment u power it own, hold the sync button on the console.. now u should have game inside that messed it up and formatted usb drive with latest update in it. goodluck

download latest update from xbox site and put it on a usb then slide the game in and reboot the xbox. turn it on and hold the sync or hold sync and turn it on. something gotta give good luck

try sliding in the game and holding sync. everytime u put a disc it will read it thinking the update is in that disc when it shows you the error 16 digits. same with usb fat32 $system... folder. maybe having the latest update on a usb will help when it tries reading it from the disc. i had that on a usb fat32 aswell but it didn't work when i was trying it manually with out the disc game inside. but maybe i had that usb connected when the sync steps worked.

same here, I just had the same problems with the latest date, but managed to get it reflash back to FW update from MAY 2011 2.0.13146.0 but it will now only play originals and DVDs,

yea bro thats the game that messed mine up. i took my box to this guy i kno that mods it but he had no idea how to fix it. i asked if he could flash the drive but he said it was still flashed. make sure the disc isn't dirty. i know xbox is picky with that shit.

keep trying the sync it has to work. it did for me keep trying both sync before power and sync after power

make sure you put in the same game that asked for the update. if anything remove the hard drive. i know my problem was that when the game asked for update i click yes and it rebooted, it left me on a applying update loop. everytime i turned it on it would say applying update then fail. so it must of been that the console didn't read the update properly.

i just can't remember if i held down sync then powered or i powered and rapidly push and held the sync button down.
