you know people just because an aircraft has flew one day does not mean it needs to be replaced right away. New is not always better. you all have to stop thinking one dimensional there are three other sides to the business than fuel savings. Paid for aircraft with a few miles on it is a lot better than a new aircraft with a huge loan on it weighing you down. I'd turn a profit running an airline with dc-10s, dc-9's and 727's that were PAID for every month.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines still operates DC-10-30s on their ultra-long haul flights: Dhaka (Bangladesh)-New Delhi (India)-Manchester (UK)-New York (USA) route... Their jets are from 1970s they leased from other airlines decades ago and are still using them on their this long route.
Economy Class is like hell on earth. No toilet papers, no running water in restrooms, food worse than Africans eat in days of the drought there, and on domestic flights, even God is not offered enough peanuts. Rude airhostesses on their planes... Rusted old DC-10-30 and B747s from 1970s that should have be retired now.
They DID retire their DC10's some time ago. I crossed the pond this year on their A330 (first time on NW) and seats and legroom in coach were really good.
Notice how the asian flight attendant is writing on a piece of paper by placing it on the headrest of the next seat. And this is business class?? Thats not a sign of a good service. US carriers have no clue.

If updated to MD-10s.
FedEx brought a fleet of old DC-10s and DC-11s and upgraded them to MD-10s and MD-11s.

@pcmiler2000 there was never a DC-11 they have always been MD-11. the dc-10s were upgraded to md-10s.
