  • With any luck your 'father' went straight to hell when he passed. I hope with the closure you're a bit happier overall. :o)

  • Hi Stephen, Just watched both parts of this astonishing story, your story of that terrible tragedy. You are very brave to speak out about this and I'm very proud of you - that took guts to admit to.

    Respect.

    Neil

  • a nice, inspirational show for a change. No chav pregnancy tests and turned up collars here.

  • I look up to you for being very brave. I hope to be like you when I'm old and I hope only happiness and love will only enter your life.

  • I am speechless at how brave you are, for not only what you've been through but the fact that you sat there and told thousands of people your story. I could never live with what you've carried around and for that, you have so many people's respect. We could never do what you did. I hope you make the most of your life, because you're truly inspirational. xxx

  • You, my friend, are a sensation to man kind, i think you are absolutely brilliant, i feel immensely proud just to have heard your story from your mouth even if i was haven't witnessed it in real life. Thank you, and god bless you.

  • You are an extremely brave and courageous person.

  • My god, big respect. You are a true human being that should be given everything you could ever want.

  • All my respect to you. You're so strong for doing this and I can only hope that you have an amazing life to come.

  • You are a massive inspiration :)

  • Ca i also say i've seem alot of people on JK with alot of different problems and their are great people on that show but you are the best person i have ever seen on that show/

  • Can i just say that you are one of the bravest people i have ever seen. I feel ever so sorry for you and i hope you are having a great life and i wish you all the best in the future. It is people like you who make me realise how lucky i am and i have an insane amount of respect for you for doing this. I remember when i was a few years old my Gran died and the only memory of her at all is the ambulance going past my next door neighbours house where i was staying but thats nothing compared to you.

  • Wow i have lots of respect for you x

  • 9 years is a disgusting sentence for a man who would do this to another human being. You are very brave for going on the show and telling your story, and braver still for sharing your story online.

I went through a violent relationship myself, and I'm glad I got out when I did, I don't think I would forgive myself, in life or in death, if my son witnessed any of the violence or what could have been my death.

May the Great Spirits keep your mother safe and happy until you meet again.

  • Totally respect you for uploading your story. You are the bravest of the brave to bring it all out in the open, after years of keeping it inside for so long. You're a great person and I wish you all the very best for the future.

  • Who's the 5 people who dislike this? cold hearted.

You are a very brave man and the WORLD probably have so much respect for you.

  • I know that this comment can't take away any pain from you but my God my heart goes out to you.

  • A lot of respect to this man.....very brave!

  • Losing a parent must be hard enough but to loose her in this way. I cant even imagine what you have been through. But i only hope you get everything you want in life but whatever happens your Mum will of you whatever. xx

  • all i want to do is give you a hug! you are an inspiration. you're mum would be proud.

  • Stephen,

I've always been cynical about this show and mostly with its deadbeat guests that come on. This is one hell of a story and I wish you nothing but all the peace and happiness I sincerely hope you will find. I and my siblings witnessed domestic violence when we were kids, nothing on your scale, but nonetheless have unhappy memories. Peace be with you.

  • Well,I hope you go on and live a better life mate you deserve it.Its easy to say push on and keep going but it is hard when it lands on your own doorstep. It takes one hell of a person to pick themselves up and keep going which is a Testiment to the lad and to his Mother. She would be proud my firend.

  • your incredible <3

  • Stephen, I'm so sorry that you had to go through something as tragic as this. I'm sure you're mum is really proud of you. Your strength is an inspiration. God bless.

  • You mate, are fantastic... God bless you.

  • I nearly lost my dad to a motorbike accident, but hes still here today and i thought what me & my family went through was bad enough. What you have gone through is terrible and i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy, youre such a brave person and i dont know anyone who could have dealt with it as well as you have. Youre a complete inspiration to everyone, thankyou so much for sharing your story.

  • you have my respect, truly an inspiration to others.

  • you have my respect. not many would have the courage to go public after witnessing something that horrific. truly an inspiration to others who go went through similar incidents

  • You're an inspiration to so many people!!

  • To have to go through that, I cannot imagine how it would feel like. You're very brave and I give you my deepest sympathies (even though a long time has passed, it's never to late).

May happiness, love and luck always follow you.

  • You truly are an inspiration to many.

Thank you so much for sharing your story.

Have a lot of respect for you. You're an incredible person.

    Good luck with everything :)

  • I'm so sorry for what happened to you but rest assured your mum is proud of you, anyone could see that, Good luck and best wishes for the future xxx

  • This has broken my heart, and you are so strong for being able to talk about this. You have my deepest respect always Stephen and i know you have made your mother proud by being as strong as you are and i wish you the best for the future sir i wish you the best.

  • D: He is so brave.

This made me tear up. I hope he is happy, loved and protected.

  • Stephen is a very strong person 2 go through tht and hve the courage 2 talk about it

his mum would be very proud of him

  • Steven,

You are by far, the bravest person i've ever had the pleasure of watching, i know i don't know you, but everybody who does is so blessed. Though your mother, god rest her soul, is gone, she clearly lives on in you, a kind caring person, good luck in your life, your are an amazing man.

  • who would dislike this? this is a brave man who deserves to be happy.

  • So brave, i would never had the nerve to do that

Ur mum would be/ is proud of you

its difficult to earn my respect but i respect you ALOT!

  • Massive courage on your part!!! I hope you have a fulfilling life and thanks for sharing your unbelievable story. Puts things in perspective and makes me appreciate everything I have and the life I have. Much love, your mom would be proud, without question! You should also be proud of yourself! Good luck in every endeavor that you wish to undertake! God Bless!

  • you are the bravest person i have ever seen i can tell that u are a very stong person. your mum would be soo proud of you steven. :,)

  • your mum will be watching over you stephen :)

  • I have never felt so much respect for a person, you are the bravest person I have ever seen and I cannot begin to comprehend how horrific those events were. Not only that but you've helped me realise I shouldn't take for granted those around me; and for that I thank you a thousand times. I wish you all the best in life and may God bless you my friend, your mother would be proud (I know a lot of people have already said that, but we mean it from the bottom of our hearts)

  • MY heart goes out to you. honestly. i hope you are blessed in whatever you want to do in your life. xxxx

  • wow. not a lot of people can come on to a show and talk about that. its a terrible thing to go through! this story left me speechless!

  • brave guy

  • u gone thru some crap and come out better the other side, good on ya, huge respect mate!

  • Your are extraordinary, hopefully happiness will go with your side :)

  • I know you most likely will not read this but...

You are a breave guy and i respect you highly.

Your mother, haha, she would be really proud of you, just for carrying on with your life, let alone what you have accomplished ASWELL.

My dad was a dick, just not to the extent of yours. He threw me off a caravan roof when i was 6, breaking my arm. My brother than broke my dads leg in such a way, it crippled him for life.

I respect you man, well done! :)

  • @origanalreaper

Tell your brother i said well done, justice is the backbone to a peacful society. But personally i would have torched the bastard.

  • Stephen,

I am sitting watching this and I am crying myself. I can't believe your dad would put you and your mother through that. You are inspirational and you tried your best to keep your mother alive. Your mother will be proud of you. You were so young and yet you knew what to do. You were, are and always will be a bigger, stronger and more exceptional person than your dad ever was. I wish you the best in life and hope you get everything you wish for! I respect you!

    Jodie

  • horrible story and thing to go through...hope your life gives you all you deserve m8 and keep on going

  • Stephen,

Thank you for being strong enough to share your story.

    Ally

  • Your mother would be so proud of you.....

Stay happy, don't give up, and just know your mother loves you

I may be only 14, but this story touched my heart

  • i.v never seen someone so brave like you to go on t.v mate well done you have my respect 100%

  • I think you are so brave fr doing this. You really seem like a very caring person and I wish you all the best in life.

  • I've lost people in my life whom were very close to me growing up as a child. I know what its like to lose those that are close to you. However never in cold blood, its saddening to hear (it made me tear up to be honest), you lost both of your parents that night. Your father by his betrayal and anger, and your mother by his hands. As long as you cherish the memories of your mother, she lives on, through you. Don't give up no matter what, you have the world behind you, supporting you. God bless.

  • I want to let you know i think you are amazing for being brave and going on. I wish you the best in life, and your mum would be so proud of you. I cried hearing your story, and i really respect you. Good Luck <3

  • True hero.

  • Dear Stephen,

You are a brave man. I respect you. May God give you all the happiness in life.

Your mum would be proud of you.

    x

  • Stephen,

you are an incredible human being. I hope you have found happiness in every aspect of your life. I cried throughout this whole episode.

    God bless you

    love from Australia

    xoxo

  • Wow, Stephen, I am terribly sorry for your loss, this is the ONLY quality Jeremy Kyle Show ever, I can only watch them here on YouTube because I am here in America on the other side of the pond, but if the world had men even HALF the man you are, the world would be a much better place.

  • Can i just say, I'm 14 and your story brought tears to my eyes but i was just wondering, didn't you blame your Grandparents for anything ??? i mean they told your mum it would just be "another black eye", they cared about themselves too much and not theyre daughter, what did you feel about them ??? Well done though, what you did took guts, and it must have been horrible , with the birthday cards and constant fear, but atleast your safe and free from this past now, well done mate...just well done

  • @Tails19950 before you read this, please note, I'm not trying to be rude or patronising or anything, I'm just giving my view on this.

I think that, after all the events up to then where it had just been puching and such, they thought it was going to be the same again. you never expect anyone to do a thing like murder.

  • There is no "god"

Your experience is just one other proof.

Thanks for what I am feeling now .

I hope I meet you in the future.

  • i never cried watchin something but this one made me cry :'(

any mum in the world would be proud of you steven!! May God bless you! May you have wonderful happy life!

  • Dear Stephen,

You are so brave, and you have been put through so much, yet even now you continue on.

I know i would be proud if you were my son.

Your mother has never left you, she is just as much a part of you as your own blood.

You are a wee angel who was put through hell and back, and will always glow as bright as any star xx

  • It's not much to offer but I wish you a long hug. Salaam.

  • She would be proud :')

  • poor bloke, the inner strength he must have, thanks to his grandma. The Scottish lady who blamed herself for her son murdering someone, He chose to drink and HE chose to fight, so she shouldn't blame herself.

  • Stephen, you are amazing and your mother would be very proud of you sweetheart. I wish you all the best for your future. om shanti .

  • If Jeremy or anyone offers you councilling you should go through with it, I don't know how you are in everyday life emotionaly but no matter what happened to you. You deserve to be able to be happy. hopefully talking about it helped get some of the weight off you're shoulders. One day you'll get married and have a family of you're own and you can put all this behind you and be surrounded with the love of you're wife and kids. Have a nice life you deserve it

  • oh my god i really feel for you i had a mate from school i dont keep in contact with her and i seen what she went through when her mam got murdered you are so brave your the type of person pepole whos had simular problems like this could look up to seriously your a hero i really appreceate seeing your video xxx

  • I actually rate you so highly, I think your most amazing person ever, just being able to rethink and retell the horrific events make you so high up in my books, I hope you have an amazing life, and I wish you the best of luck for the future x

  • @RedHorizon100 This isn't just TV, this is real life. Not just a another drama.

  • Dear Stephen,

I just created a youtube account especially to be able to write to you after watching your video. I think you are the bravest person that exists. I am the mother of a 16 month old boy, and I can tell you that your mother would be so incredibly proud of you. May you be blessed with only happiness and love, and I hope you have the opportunity to be a father to children, so that you can bring more exceptional people into the world like you.

  • @daliatreenutrition

Thank you for taking the time to do this.

My life shaped me into the person I am today, I'm happy, settled and grateful for all I have.

Knowing sharing my story has helped so many others is why I've left it posted on here.

Thank you for taking the time to message, it means a lot.

  • @swhite1976 I'm 16 and have seen and hear quite a lot of sad stories but you are the most brave person I will ever know of in my life. What you did took courage. To go on TV and tell your story to people is incredibly brave of you and by god your mum will be unbeleivably proud of you. My thoughts are with you :) god bless you

  • @swhite1976

Feel terribly sorry for you, but of course your mum would be proud of you, why wouldnt she.

Sorry to say this but i hope your father lives with the guilt of what he did for the rest of his life, people like him dont deserve to breathe our oxygen, and a pathetic excuse it is to blame it on an illness.

But all the best to you, hope you enjoy your life.

  • @swhite1976 you are so brave i am 16 and dont know wot i would do if i even lost my mum let alone go through what you have had to i just hope u can lead a happy life and overcome our terible story

  • I think you're amazing. And you will be a wonderful husband and father. xx

  • steven you are a legend, your mum would be very, very proud

  • I have to admit. I shed a tear watching this.

  • I'm actually in tears after watching this. One of the great things about the mind is that it stores memories for life - Those that you have of your mum and her love for you will stay with you to treasure, and she would certainly be proud of you :)

  • in part one you apologised for crying-you have every right to cry your an insperation to everyone

  • Just read the description and realised it was you!!! Wow, I commence your bravery. I normally reserve that line for the soldiers killed in the Iraq and Afghan wars (when talking about the army that is) but you are trully deserving of that. That made me cry, and trust me when I say this, it is hard to make me cry. It made realise how special my Mum is and how precious she is....writing this is making me cry again, because I've always been closer to my mum, and never liked my dad much.

  • his mam would be so proud of him he is so brave speaking about what happened to him and his mam.is dad is not a man he is nothing but scum and should never of been let out of prison.my heart goes out to him xxxx

  • @swhite1976..stay strong kidda

  • stay strong man ...i gta say thou your dad is scum man

  • I never thought I'd cry at a story on Jeremy Kyle but that man has to be one of the biggest heroes in the world

  • I think you are very brave. This actually made me cry, I thought that the man up my street was a bad father, but then hearing of your father and what he did, he seems like an angel. I'm glad you've come forward with this story, because the man up my street has now turned his life around and is one of the most doting dads I have ever met. So I want to thankyou for sharing your story, and thankyou for making a childs life better.

  • Stephen, your story really moved me - you are a survivor of the most terible heart ache - i cherish my children and the thought of not being there for them fills me with dread .... love to you too x

  • What a smashing kid... puts some of my trivial problems into perspective. Hope he has a great life !

  • when did this air in NZ? first time am seeing now.. OMG this is soo heart breakn.. i feel soo sorry for u mate. u will get thru n ur mother is in a better place.. resting in peace. 9 yrs in prison for 1st degree murder ws not a fair trail..but learn to forgive ur father for his horrible action so u can be move on n find happines & peacefulness in ur life.. leave God to deal with him.. best wishes love

  • Thank you for being so brave. I wish you hadn't had to be, but thank you nevertheless.

Victims of domestic violence should not feel that they are the guilty ones. Neighbours and passersby should feel able to get involved.

Take heart; you've come through so much and that would make your Mum proud.

  • i cried.

  • It takes courage to do what you have done. My friend you are the bravest person i have ever seen, and there is no doubt in my mind that your mum would be so proud of you. People like you give hope to us all, You are a true hero.

  • Found this totally by chance and although I rarely comment on videos I can safely say I have never been SO moved by one single person. I am mere years older than this guy but the mother in me just wanted to reach out and hug hum! I am more than sure that his mother would have and will always be proud of him! How brave to go on national TV stand up and say "I survived" I sincerely hope you find the peace you need and have a long and happy life

God bless you Stephen you are a credit to your mum x

  • keep ya head up bro,, just like everyone says, your mum would be proud... if anything came out of this at all, it would be that this will make u so strong.. keep going mate!!

  • respect buddy for sharing your horrific experience with the world, your mum will be looking down on you with great pride

  • People are sometimes talking about the issue to not let the children see when mom and dad are fighting. It is tremendous important for how the child will feel about their parents, when they are adult. And for a father to let a son see how he is killing the mother, is a thing the son never ever will be able to forget, plus even tell him he will be the next. I have no words that can describe the fear that child will feel and the pain when he is adult.

  • What does tthis have to do with NZ?

  • @bryceeeeable It was aired in NZ too.

  • @swhite1976 NZ shows loads of english programmes.

  • I admire your courage, Stephen. You seem like a wonderful man, despite all you have been through. God bless.

  • i give you so much respect for doing this, youre an incredable person for living the type of life that youve had

  • I hope his dad dies a slow horrible death for what he did to his poor mum and the effect it had on his son.

  • @ADELECG85

I found out he had died of a lung disorder and would have been in much pain.

  • @swhite1976 well what goes around comes around. thats karma for you.

  • @swhite1976 Oh my god I didnt' even realise it was actually you in the video! well done to you, you are a credit to the human race and I hope you go on to live a long and happy life after the trauma you went through.

  • @swhite1976 Oh,darlin,I wish I could come and give you a great big hug

  • your a great man and ur mum would have been very proud to call you her son i think u were very brave to tell all this on national tv and i hope u make ur life the best it can be for ur mum x

  • I'm sorry. All I can say is your strength and determination is so admirable. I wish you nothing but the absolute best in your life. Your mother would be proud of you.

  • well done total respect to the guy... my mother died of natural causes and i could not talk on national tv about her, but to lose your mother under such horrendous circumstances and be able to do what this guy has done is amazing... total total respect... i hope you have raised awareness and if you have saved at least one battered wife then it was worthwhile. well done stephen x

  • God bless you, your mum would be very proud of you,i am sure that she is with you every day, watching over you, take care X

  • I just wanted to say that, the video made me cry and how much respect I have for you. I have great respect for you and the amount of courage and strength it took for you to go up and put yourself aside like that to help others, is admirable. I truely wish you all the best for the future!

  • What a living nightmare! I cannot begin to understand the terror and fear you must have gone through. I'm glad to learn that the murderer is dead, i hope he rots in hell for what he did to your poor mother, and the mental pain he put you through. I wish you a good and peaceful life my friend. You deserve it.God Bless x

  • life has been very cruel to you but you have come out on the good side your mum would be overjoyed to see you so strong bless you my friend x

  • I hope one day you find happiness and that the haunted look leaves your eyes, it's a terrible thing to live with. Your mam would be very proud of you. There's people that go through less and turn to alcohol and drugs becoming as bad as the problems they're trying to block. Stay strong x

  • @danmatthews25 this was filmed and aired in 2007.

  • very amazing you are my respect to you

  • for what he did he should have spent the rest of his life behind bars. 9 years is nowhere near enough to compensate for taking a woman's life, and destroying his son's and their family's.

this guy has my upmost respect and his mother would definately be proud of him, just like we all are.

  • @schecterscott Agreed. the bastard should have been executed.

  • Bless him

    He's a good lad,head screwed on.

My ole man battered my mum as a kiddie, but as soon as i was 16 and went to work welding i become a strong lad and laid my dad flat out when i arrived home one day and he was drunk and violent to her.

Im not proud of that, but i put all my anger in that bang and he went down so sweet.

  • There's one thing that should come from this, and it's obvious it's the main reason he went on the show, and that's to highlight and stress to other women in a similar violent situation that it's not ok and it's not normal, and that it should not be tolerated in any way shape or form. Heed the early warning signs and seek help. This would be this young mans mothers legacy and some good should come out of this tragic story. Lots of respect to you Stephen. Regards - Steve

  • This must have been an incredibly difficult thing for this young man to do, more difficult than we could imagine. He's had to live with this and deal with it for his entire life since that day, and it would have completely changed the way he's been living his life, his daily emotions, his ability to do things, and he may not have realised it, it would have just been the norm for him, and from this we can see that he's turned out a very intelligent and strong young man.

  • Steven, your mother *IS* very proud of you. You are a fine upstanding man and I applaud your courage.

I have no doubt that you bring happiness to many people in this world, despite your tragedy. You are living inspiration and I'm a better person just by watching this video.

I wish you a long and happy life, sir.

  • Well done and good luck. Life should mean life though.

  • Amazing...In the US, a life sentence is rarely less than 25 years when the assault and murder is as violent as in this case. I'm not in favor of the death penalty...but such light sentences for horrific crimes like this is completely abusrd.

  • Upmost respect

  • the british justice system is an absolute disgrace.9 years!. I cannot imagine what this man has been through, or understand how his father could do what he did and then to continue harass and taunt his own son in such a cruel way. he is a beast and should not have been released after 9 years. There is no justice here. The fact he has got on with his life is an inspiration to us all.

  • hope you get your life were you want it and you are always going to be respected

  • fuck , i cant believe i;m crying as i;m righting this

  • this is the best jk ever you are a brave guy,the hinting never stops leave if this is you for god sake it can happen to anyone it was me 2 years ago.

  • you are such a brave guy, all the best to you, god bless.

  • sweetheart, i am so proud of you - you are exceptionally strong!! your mum would be so proud of how you have grown. x

  • that poor lad deserves a cuddle n to be loved and protected.. god love his precious heart..

  • That made me cry... and not much does. Your mum would be so so proud of you.

  • Sad story...America wishes you the best!

  • hope u live a good life now because you deserve it! i just hope THAT man gets his comeuppance one day!

  • Very moving :'(

  • I pray for this poor soul.

    major respect to you.

  • your mum would be proud mate.

    i respect you.

  • Such a brave guy, wish i was as brave as you. God bless you my friend

  • Wow that was brutal. Done well to keep going though. Dad must have been seriously ill. 9 years is a joke.

  • god bless, hope you find a nice place in life

  • Omg i cant believe this story. 9 years is quite literally nothin. I just think you're so brave. Your would be so so proud of you Xx

  • A British life sentence is rarely more than 10 years.

Most murderers are out in about 9-10, i worked in a prison so i know thats true.

  • proof of our shite justice system.

  • In no way is this directed at yourself, but HOW THE FUCK do they justify letting people out that early? how the hell do they do it????

  • most murders is 7-10 actualy :P

  • that's terrible, not killed mother but tried to kill son and all he got was nine years, some armed robbers who never killed anyone get double that.

  • Continued...

Remember this you are a REAL MAN and not the coward your Dad is... A real man would never hit a woman, keep up with being the amazing guy you are thanks again!

    Suzie x

  • I think I missed this episode, that made me cry seeing that, made me wanna come over and give ya a hug, I think you are an amazing inspiring person, thank you for sharing this, I think he should of got life, meaning life meaning life, not 9 years, I think the justice system & jail time in this country takes the p***, we should have a system in this country like America, LIFE MEANS LIFE, you are defo a credit to your Mum, I am sure she is always watching over you, making sure you are safe........

  • Your very brave for coming out to Jeremy Kyle, and sharing that heartwrenching story

  • You are a very brave man, and I'm sure your mum is very proud of you.

  • you are so brave mate! telling britain what happened to your mum is a massive inspiration to everyone, you've made people think and i respect you, you're mum is always with you and she's proud of you mate!

keep the happy memories and try to leave the bad ones behind

  • I'd like to thank you for sharing this private and painful time with me. You have humbled me and I thank you for your strength and if anything positive can come from this, it's knowing that we people on you tube are aware of the issues you have raised and hopefully can do something positive to see that it does not happen to another person

  • hello i just wanted to say im so so sorry for u i hope ur felling better ive got a relitive past away its hard but for u it must be harder i wish u all of luck !!

  • You are a credit to your mum and grandmother. I'm speechless right now..

  • wow.. god bless u !!! i bet your mum is very proud of you and always will be standing by your side protecting you from any harm ..

i never new my mum or dad, i kinda relate to ya

  • i'm so glad yu dnt kno him. yur a very brave guy well done. i thought i had it hard now i kno i really dont. <3 god bless you

  • you should kill the bastard .

9 years for taking a life....killing his wife and he got 9 fucking years... what a joke our country is... we have to many libral douche bags running the show...we need the capital punishment for stuff like this....i swear if some one killed my mother and got 9 fucking years. id take the law into my own hands and fucking burn the bastard alive

  • Totally agree, i'd shoot the cunt in the kneecaps and throw him off a cliff. I'd then feed him to the dogs. This world is too far gone to be repaired.

    Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

  • same here

  • You mum would be proud of you mate. God bless.
