Need Help. I been training for a year and gained results(im 16) The only problem I've got is when i relised my left rear deltoid is smaller than my right. I relised this when i took a pic, is it down to genetics or training? I do train symectrically to equal out the muscle groups, thanks.
@andrewb4099 =- we are all a little smaller one side of our body. It should not be that noticable though. I would use dumbbells with some bent over side raises. Go heavier with the side that is smaller and lighter with the bigger side. You are wanting the smaller side to adapt to the bigger weight so it grows while you maintain what you have with the bigger side. It should not take too long to balance. Baz
@listenthinkspeak - because he owns this site and is also 60 years old. I hope you will take the time to share what you do with others. If you do not like what you see or hear then find another channel. There are loads of steroid taking guys you can go and admire. Baz
@TurtleGoneBad - yes I think you can start. Go light with about 12+ reps per set. Get a great foundation and when you are 16 start to go a lot heavier with no more then about 12 reps per set to really build. Baz
@candipill - start slow with weights and build yourself up. You will get stronger and quite quick. The idea is to train and keep trying to go a bit heavier so the muscles have to adapt. Baz
@Exceeeelll - yes you can as it is better then not training but if you are serious about changing your body and health then it is worth doing it with more equipment. Baz
@pahistelija - ???? I am not sure what you are getting at. I am very happy with how I am and what I do with training. Most personal trainers I see are young guys straight out of college who could not lift a bar never with weights on. Baz
@BazBlog one, you talk same time as you do your moves, two, you look like a very stiff (relax), three, these movements do not seem safe when you make them. where is focus?? SLOW DOWN.
@pahistelija - Everyone has an opinion and is an expert. Pity your site does not show how good you are. It is a good job I train for me and not for you. I am very happy how I train and the results I have got. I hope when you get to 60 you can say the same. I suggest get your site working well and show people exactly how you do it. Baz

@siolFifek - thanks very much. You will always find that when you help people and tell them what good they are doing they will do a lot more of that. If you only find fault guess what? that is what you will produce more of. What you think about is what you bring about. Baz

@BazBlog ok mate, when you said that if you keep doin the same exercise your muscles dont grow does that mean even if you do heavier weights they still won't, ok let me know pal :D
@rkyitn - You will keep getting some growth provided you alter the weights. If you keep increasing the muscles have to keep adapting. It is good to do a different exercises so the muscle has to work at different angles and that also stimulates muscle growth. I change exercises about ever 6 to 8 weeks. Baz
i dislocated my right shoulder and tore my rotator cuff in basketball last year and i was wondering what workouts i could do without injuring my shoulder?
@christianpersinske23 - wow that sucks. The thing I would do if that happened to me is I would have a go at some really light weights and try some dumbbell shoulder press. If there is very little pain or no pain at all then that is fine. If it is sore to do then try loads of things including side raises. I have a really bad left arm. I think I have pulled all the legiments and tendons. I can do psuhing exercises but very painful with pulling exercises. (Cnt0
I then found that if I just do half curls from the top down it does not hurt much and so that is what I am now doing. When I do them I visualise the full movement even though it is only a half movement. What is the most surprising is that I am getting a full burn as if it was a full rep and the muscle is doing great. Since doing this the pain has eased quite a bit too. Try all different ways but not if you have pain. Get clearance from your Dr. Baz

i've seen alot of other videos on youtube...but i think u have the best explanation and u keep it simple ...very encouraging for beginner like me...keep up the good work sir..salute !
yo baz, i would just like to ask how many sets and reps do you do for this exercise? As in for the front, side and back deltoids, do you do for example 3 sets for each or just one set for every part? And how many reps per set?
@HateCrew540 - I am quite lazy and do not overdo them. i normally only do shoulder presses with some side raises. For the front and side deltoids I find that they train quite well with just one exercise. I therefore do like 5/6 sets of side raises or shoulder presses. I then do 4/5 sets of bent over side raises. Go quite heavy with about 8-12 reps per set. Not too heavy so you lose form. Baz
hi. just wanted to ask, when i do lateral and side raises, my right arm has a cracking sound sometimes. it doesn't hurt or anything, and it actually sounds like you're cracking your knuckles. does it mean anything? i'm using lightweights, coz i don't have a heavier set of weights atm.
@terranceneo - There are a few people who have cracking sounds from joints but no pain and never have a problem. I would for safety have it checked out with a Dr though. Baz
@wwopwwp - there could be a few reasons. The amount of weight you are using and the number of reps per set. It could be how often you are training too. The big thing is the food you eat. You should not train them more than 2 times a week. You should go quite heavy and do around 8-12 reps for the best muscle growth. I would have a look at the nutrition video and get some ideas from that. Baz
@HKGBJBADA - I think is it very simple. You need to stick to basic exercise. Bicep curls, Tricep push downs and hammer or reverse curls. 5/6 sets x 8-12 reps per set. Food is really important so have a look at the nutrition video. Baz
@GeneralHarness - Pleasure my friend. Try to do a lot of military presses they are one of the best for shoulders. Good luck with your training and you will do well in the Navy. Baz.
this vid has been really helpful and informative. thank you for posting it. but on the rear delt workout as you've shown it, people who aren't probably looking to workout their backs should know that they don't have to extend the raise that far to still get a quality exercise.
@darkbrisco - excellent I am glad you enjoyed it. I think each person must lift the weight to a height they believe will work for them. Some lift lower and others higher. Both will work for the person that believes it will work for them. Thanks for the tip anyway. Baz
@TheNewRiflemanBob - they tend to work the front and middle deltoids. Not a lot of the rear so you need to do some bent of lateral raises so they all grow equal. Baz
I've switched to a totally different lifestyle lately (atkins diet, running, lifting weights) and your videos are the best. Just wanted to say that and it's not really specific to this video (but I do think this video is incredibly helpful). Thanks a lot, you're an amazing person!
@soneet - that is fantastic that you are training. I would like to suggest that you do not do the Atkins diets. I have done it and it does put a lot of stress on the kidneys. Eating a balanced meal in small quantities is way better and with just as good results if not better. You need carbs to give energy or you will have to use muscle for that function. Have a look at the nutrition video and you will get some good ideas on how to eat. Baz
@onbekend2010 - that is because we are all different. Your metabolism probably works a lot faster. You might be in a major growth stage so it will be very hard to gain weight. You should still eat the way I suggested in the nutrition video and just increase the amoung to carbs you eat. It will level out and you will gain weight when you eat more than you are using. Baz
hey mr.mienie will you gain any deltoids with only the work out 3:18? please help cause ive been having shoulder troubles doing the other ones? thank you
@StevenIsAwesome07 - Yes I think it is about the best overall shoulder exercise you can do. It is the basic shoulder press. It does not do too much for the rear deltoid but certainly works the front and side deltoid. Good luck with your training. Baz
@StevenIsAwesome07 - that is so hard to say. I do not know how strong you are. It might be too heavy and it might be too light. You will really need to work that out for yourself. I find that I try to train to failure or the point of failure every time I do an exercise. The more resistance you can put on a muscle the more it has to adapt. It will grow in size and strength. Baz
@MrYeahwee - you are right with the fat turning into muscle. It cannot. Fat is used as fuel for building muscle. FOOD has every thing to do with building muscle and is the most important part of all bodybuilding. If that is incorrect forget getting what you want. You are right, vary the exercise to break the barrier. Baz
How you going im 186cm and 103kg. I have very big shoulders, legs and a strong back but i have belly fat so what can i do to get rid of it. I already do 50 pushups and situps. And 20 minutes of cardio do you have any advice for me to lose it. Thanks!
@uhohpolio7 - You have to eat right. 6 meals a day. Have a look at the nutrition video on bazblog. Provided you do the right kind of aerobics you will burn off the fat. Have a look at the fat burn video on bazblog. Baz
nice workout.. although i'm not sure how many reps i should make if i wanna build muscle.. my shoulders are not so flat, but still, i want them a bit bigger.
@toritofine - I like to do a combination type of training. I start with a warm up of around 12 reps. I then reduce the reps by 2 and increase the weight. When I get down to 6 reps I am at the heaviest I can possible lift. I often fail at 5 reps which is fine. The I do a final set of 12 reps with the weight I used for 8 reps and then add a superset of 12 reps. I often fail before I can finish all the reps. I hope that helps. Thanks for the compliment. Baz
this video has helped me so much. I'm 19 and all I got to work with are my dumbells and basic bench and since I started using them regularly a few monthes ago I've actually seen major results in just that time doing flys and raises but the rear delts have been eluding me. I could never figure out what I was doing wrong or if I didn't use enough weight or something like that but it seems I was missing that one last piece of the shoulder workout. thank you Baz.
@XForsakenxOneX - that is fantasic that you are getting results. I am glad this video will help you. I would suggest you try to get some more weights so you can vary the weights you are using. It will force the muscles to grow quicker. You need to go heavy to build. One of the problems is that the chest can lift more than the shoulders so that is why you need more weights. Baz
hi baz i need your help i started training cause im skinny and the only thing building up is my shoulder and delts how do i put weight on my chest and my arms and thighs? im 5.7 10 stone small frame ??
@pezz1985 - You will need to do good basic training like you see in the videos. You need to eat well to gain the right kind of weight. I would have a look at the video on bazblog on nutrition to get some ideas. Once you have done that if you need more help let me know. Baz
@PinguinKnight - Your friend does not know what they are talking about. You cannot turn fat into muscle or muscle into fat. You build muscle by doing heavy weights with low reps. You have to have enough carbs with each meal and you will gain muscle. I will send you a plan. Baz
you are such a great trainer. Sir, if I bought your DVD are you going to provide me nutrition plan. plz email me your response. Thanx and I'm really thankful for all ur helpful you tubs.
@samasiri - thanks for the compliment. Nutrition is a very personal thing and the only information I have is what I do and that is on the nutritional video on bazblog. Each of us is different and you have to work out how much to eat for your metabolism. The basics of protein and carbs is normal for all people it is just the amounts that is important. Baz
@NOFZILLA25- make sure you heal first before you do them. Then go light with lots of reps till the shoulder gets used to it. Never overdo it. It will take time for the shoulders to settle after an operation. I know that is what happened to me when I had to have repairs done because of rugby. Baz
Hey baz. I do the front raise a lot and i do the same weight for my right and left shoulder like expected. But my right front deltoid is a lot bigger than my left. Any tips?
Hey baz. I do the front raise a lot and i do the same weight for my right and left shoulder like expected. But my right front deltoid is a lot bigger than my left. Any tips?
@esky94 - I had that problem after a shoulder operation from playing rugby. I know it looked really stupid but I did the smaller side with as heavy weights as possible and the bigger side with very light weight. I managed to get them a lot closer in quite a short space of time. Baz
@fogonabomba2 I did not invent this exercise but 1 year on since I did this video they are pretty impressive so give it a try instead of just making comments. Baz
gr8 vid baz. does using a lat pull down also help the rear deltoids coz i only have fairly heavy weights and struggle to do the exercise you were showing for working the rear deltoids.
@and551 - Thank you for the comment. Lat pull downs do slightly work them but you have to find a way to do bent over side raises. You can use some bottles filled with water and use that as your weight till you get more weights. Baz
Yes it will add a bit on your shoulders. You are actually governed by your genetic make up. You need to train the whole of the upper body to get the shoulders to look bigger. I would definately work on the lats too as that will make the shoulders look bigger. Baz
hello nice work outs very efficient and immidiate results love them. i have a few questions if you dont mind...im a basketball player looking to build muscle to have a nice lean looking body my question is....will building muscle make me slower? because its critical that my arms move quick but im in need of muscle but dont want to lose the quickness...any tips will help thank you.
any weight training you do will be fine...even if you work out hard you wont build muscle right away and you wont get big fast it takes many years to get big, if you wanna just tone your body do weight training with alot of cardio.
You can actually make a very big difference in how you look if you eat right and train hard within about 4 months. I know that is what I have done and you can see the day by day progress i made on my site buildingmuscles org uk . The food is the key to how quick you will build along with how you train. You will not win Mr Olympia in that time that will take years lol but you can make significant changes in a relatively short time. Baz
Lifting weights will not slow you down if you train with not too heavy weights and around 12 reps per set. If you go really heavy you will bulk and that can have a tendency to slow you down. 100 M sprinters are very well built and are very muscular too. Baz
A bulky body is when you are big but carry a fair amount of fat all over your body so the muscles are not cut but are still there. A lean body is like Bruce Lee. Very little fat nice sized muslces for your height and able to really see the muscles even when you are relaxed. Baz
Baz, I have well developed side delts and almost as well developed front delts, but my rear delts barely exist. Should I wait for all muscle on my shoulder to be lost, or should I do weakpoint training?
You have a very common problem. Your deltoids would have developed because of bench press and other shoulder exercises. What you need to do is to target the rear delts by doing bent over side raises. Keep training the others as you have been but really put in a full effort on the rear ones and they will catch up quite quick. Baz
I'm learning how to do handstand pushups against the wall, and planche pushups, but I feel my shoulders are too weak to do them, would working out your deltoids in the way you show help?
Yes it certainly will. Doing a bench press will also work the shoulders to a degree. You can do should presses with dumbbells that will do a great job and then you will have the strength to do you handstand pushups. They are tough to do. Baz
If you can that would be excellent. I have never tried it with deltoids. So long as you are definately flexing at the top and not straining the shoulders. It is about trying to get as much blood into the muscle as possible. Baz
Thumbs up

@HKGBJBADA - I think is it very simple. You need to stick to basic exercise. Bicep curls, Tricep push downs and hammer or reverse curls. 5/6 sets x 8-12 reps per set. Food is really important so have a look at the nutrition video. Baz

Thanks Gaz.. you just helped me a ton! Training for the US Navy atm.. and i need a lot of shoulder strength. Thanks a lot.
GeneralHarness 1 year ago
@GeneralHarness - Pleasure my friend. Try to do a lot of military presses they are one of the best for shoulders. Good luck with your training and you will do well in the Navy. Baz.

this vid has been really helpful and informative. thank you for posting it. but on the rear delt workout as you've shown it, people who aren't probably looking to workout their backs should know that they don't have to extend the raise that far to still get a quality exercise.
darkbrisco 1 year ago
@darkbrisco - excellent I am glad you enjoyed it. I think each person must lift the weight to a height they believe will work for them. Some lift lower and others higher. Both will work for the person that believes it will work for them. Thanks for the tip anyway. Baz

do shoulder presses work the individual deltoids?
TheNewRiflemanBob 1 year ago
@TheNewRiflemanBob - they tend to work the front and middle deltoids. Not a lot of the rear so you need to do some bent of lateral raises so they all grow equal. Baz

I've switched to a totally different lifestyle lately (atkins diet, running, lifting weights) and your videos are the best. Just wanted to say that and it's not really specific to this video (but I do think this video is incredibly helpful). Thanks a lot, you're an amazing person!
soneet 1 year ago
@soneet - that is fantastic that you are training. I would like to suggest that you do not do the Atkins diets. I have done it and it does put a lot of stress on the kidneys. Eating a balanced meal in small quantities is way better and with just as good results if not better. You need carbs to give energy or you will have to use muscle for that function. Have a look at the nutrition video and you will get some good ideas on how to eat. Baz

hi, i have the same problem as knightpinguin
i eat alot but i never get fat
my little brother and me eat always the same thing but my lil brother always get fatter and i always get longer.
onbekend2010 1 year ago
@onbekend2010 - that is because we are all different. Your metabolism probably works a lot faster. You might be in a major growth stage so it will be very hard to gain weight. You should still eat the way I suggested in the nutrition video and just increase the amoung to carbs you eat. It will level out and you will gain weight when you eat more than you are using. Baz
BazBlog 1 year ago
hey mr.mienie will you gain any deltoids with only the work out 3:18? please help cause ive been having shoulder troubles doing the other ones? thank you
StevenIsAwesome07 1 year ago
@StevenIsAwesome07 - Yes I think it is about the best overall shoulder exercise you can do. It is the basic shoulder press. It does not do too much for the rear deltoid but certainly works the front and side deltoid. Good luck with your training. Baz
BazBlog 1 year ago
@BazBlog thank you mr.miene but i have one more question to ask will 20 pounds wieghts show like any big results doin shoulder presses?
StevenIsAwesome07 1 year ago
@StevenIsAwesome07 - that is so hard to say. I do not know how strong you are. It might be too heavy and it might be too light. You will really need to work that out for yourself. I find that I try to train to failure or the point of failure every time I do an exercise. The more resistance you can put on a muscle the more it has to adapt. It will grow in size and strength. Baz
BazBlog 1 year ago
@MrYeahwee - you are right with the fat turning into muscle. It cannot. Fat is used as fuel for building muscle. FOOD has every thing to do with building muscle and is the most important part of all bodybuilding. If that is incorrect forget getting what you want. You are right, vary the exercise to break the barrier. Baz

How you going im 186cm and 103kg. I have very big shoulders, legs and a strong back but i have belly fat so what can i do to get rid of it. I already do 50 pushups and situps. And 20 minutes of cardio do you have any advice for me to lose it. Thanks!
uhohpolio7 1 year ago
@uhohpolio7 - You have to eat right. 6 meals a day. Have a look at the nutrition video on bazblog. Provided you do the right kind of aerobics you will burn off the fat. Have a look at the fat burn video on bazblog. Baz

nice workout.. although i'm not sure how many reps i should make if i wanna build muscle.. my shoulders are not so flat, but still, i want them a bit bigger.
toritofine 1 year ago

XForsakenxOneX 1 year ago
@XForsakenxOneX - that is fantasic that you are getting results. I am glad this video will help you. I would suggest you try to get some more weights so you can vary the weights you are using. It will force the muscles to grow quicker. You need to go heavy to build. One of the problems is that the chest can lift more than the shoulders so that is why you need more weights. Baz

hi baz i need your help i started training cause im skinny and the only thing building up is my shoulder and delts how do i put weight on my chest and my arms and thighs? im 5.7 10 stone small frame ??
pezz1985 1 year ago
@pezz1985 - You will need to do good basic training like you see in the videos. You need to eat well to gain the right kind of weight. I would have a look at the video on bazblog on nutrition to get some ideas. Once you have done that if you need more help let me know. Baz

im really but i mean really small and i can eat asmuch as i want and i dont get fatter is this a problem??
because a friend of mine said that fat turns in to muscle but i dont have any fat?
btw i am 17
and thx for the video
PinguinKnight 1 year ago
@PinguinKnight - Your friend does not know what they are talking about. You cannot turn fat into muscle or muscle into fat. You build muscle by doing heavy weights with low reps. You have to have enough carbs with each meal and you will gain muscle. I will send you a plan. Baz
BazBlog 1 year ago
you are such a great trainer. Sir, if I bought your DVD are you going to provide me nutrition plan. plz email me your response. Thanx and I'm really thankful for all ur helpful you tubs.
samasiri 1 year ago
@samasiri - thanks for the compliment. Nutrition is a very personal thing and the only information I have is what I do and that is on the nutritional video on bazblog. Each of us is different and you have to work out how much to eat for your metabolism. The basics of protein and carbs is normal for all people it is just the amounts that is important. Baz

ty very much i'm suffering from a shouder operation and can't wait to these exercises to strengthen my delts(VERY WEAK) LOL
NOFZILLA25 1 year ago
@NOFZILLA25- make sure you heal first before you do them. Then go light with lots of reps till the shoulder gets used to it. Never overdo it. It will take time for the shoulders to settle after an operation. I know that is what happened to me when I had to have repairs done because of rugby. Baz

@esky94 - I had that problem after a shoulder operation from playing rugby. I know it looked really stupid but I did the smaller side with as heavy weights as possible and the bigger side with very light weight. I managed to get them a lot closer in quite a short space of time. Baz

gr8 vid baz. does using a lat pull down also help the rear deltoids coz i only have fairly heavy weights and struggle to do the exercise you were showing for working the rear deltoids.
and551 1 year ago
@and551 - Thank you for the comment. Lat pull downs do slightly work them but you have to find a way to do bent over side raises. You can use some bottles filled with water and use that as your weight till you get more weights. Baz

Yes it will add a bit on your shoulders. You are actually governed by your genetic make up. You need to train the whole of the upper body to get the shoulders to look bigger. I would definately work on the lats too as that will make the shoulders look bigger. Baz

hello nice work outs very efficient and immidiate results love them. i have a few questions if you dont mind...im a basketball player looking to build muscle to have a nice lean looking body my question is....will building muscle make me slower? because its critical that my arms move quick but im in need of muscle but dont want to lose the quickness...any tips will help thank you.
d213danny 1 year ago
any weight training you do will be fine...even if you work out hard you wont build muscle right away and you wont get big fast it takes many years to get big, if you wanna just tone your body do weight training with alot of cardio.
icecreamrulz420ya 1 year ago
You can actually make a very big difference in how you look if you eat right and train hard within about 4 months. I know that is what I have done and you can see the day by day progress i made on my site buildingmuscles org uk . The food is the key to how quick you will build along with how you train. You will not win Mr Olympia in that time that will take years lol but you can make significant changes in a relatively short time. Baz
BazBlog 1 year ago
Lifting weights will not slow you down if you train with not too heavy weights and around 12 reps per set. If you go really heavy you will bulk and that can have a tendency to slow you down. 100 M sprinters are very well built and are very muscular too. Baz

what is the difference between a lean body and a bulky one????
because i want a lean one.
belthazormn1 2 years ago
A bulky body is when you are big but carry a fair amount of fat all over your body so the muscles are not cut but are still there. A lean body is like Bruce Lee. Very little fat nice sized muslces for your height and able to really see the muscles even when you are relaxed. Baz

i train arms on friday how long should i wait to train them again?
belthazormn1 2 years ago
Give them around 48 hours. I would not wait much longer than 72 hours. I hope they build awesome for you. Baz

how long will it take to develope noticeable delts???
belthazormn1 2 years ago
If you are eating right and you train hard you will see a good difference in about 3/4 months. Baz

Baz, I have well developed side delts and almost as well developed front delts, but my rear delts barely exist. Should I wait for all muscle on my shoulder to be lost, or should I do weakpoint training?
carlyle101 2 years ago
You have a very common problem. Your deltoids would have developed because of bench press and other shoulder exercises. What you need to do is to target the rear delts by doing bent over side raises. Keep training the others as you have been but really put in a full effort on the rear ones and they will catch up quite quick. Baz

I'm learning how to do handstand pushups against the wall, and planche pushups, but I feel my shoulders are too weak to do them, would working out your deltoids in the way you show help?
jdecro 2 years ago
Yes it certainly will. Doing a bench press will also work the shoulders to a degree. You can do should presses with dumbbells that will do a great job and then you will have the strength to do you handstand pushups. They are tough to do. Baz

Thanks so much, great video too, I was really feeling it. With enough hard work, I'll definitely be able to do it soon

Would you recommend tensing the deltoids at the peak weight load like the method for fly's?
6gra45 2 years ago
If you can that would be excellent. I have never tried it with deltoids. So long as you are definately flexing at the top and not straining the shoulders. It is about trying to get as much blood into the muscle as possible. Baz
