He shouldn' t be moving his pivot foot 'till the ball hits the ground! But they just don't call it a traveling in the NBA....they would call it in the Euroleague !
in game speed it wouldnt be called a travel because he starts his dribble at the same time he picks up his pivot foot. technically it is a travel but its hard to call as long as he starts his dribble at the same time.
@ryanc30x i wondered the same thing... MY interpretation of the rule is that you CAN pick up your pivot foot, but the dribble must hit the ground before the foot does again. That would explain why, on a fastbreak, a player can catch the ball, take a step, and jump off the foot they stepped with (which obviously moves the pivot foot, cuz ur in the air)
