Actually, it wasn't just that. His body rejected the mutation (his will's pretty strong), so it had fatal results - getting hit by that slimy, acky tentacle was just another catalyst.

RE4 is easy compared to others, it was very polished and it had an easy, 3rd person aiming, instead of hold to target and hope you get a headshot like most other RE games.
