I will say this yes he might of been a good lawman but he was a dirty SOB and hung out with one of the biggest outlaws of all time doc holliday and he treated his wife like shit and always put his job and brothers before her so really i cant say i like him.
Kevin Costner plays great historical figures---Wyatt Earp, Robin Hood, Jim Garrison, Kenny O' Donnell, etc. He is my favorite of all time. WE is superb.
Well I have no idea why any one would get mad about you being related to Wyatt Earp I mean he had 4 brothers for christ sake and he did live a very promiscuous life in his earlier years but yeah Just thought I would put it out there that Wyatt Earp is my great great great great great granddad lol yeah we traced our name all the way back to him.
The Costner- Kasdan movie was the better one IMO. It brought more depth to the characters and a lot of the themes were better dealt with. The cinematography and the music are really awe-inspiring.
I agree 100 percent; Tombstone was entertaining, but also unintentionally funny in some places, and what was up with the gay storyline that had nothing to do with the Earps? And Dana Delaney was about 15+ years too old to play Josie.
I just finished watching this movie yesterday and it's damn good. Now, I'll have to see "Tombstone" again to compare both of them. stupid strategy to release both films at the same time, though I can see why "Tombstone" fared much better at the box office: more star power.
I have this soundtrack. I play it all the time in my truck while traveling through the deserts of Utah. Absolutely amazing experience! Thanks for posting this on YouTube!

This is awesome music. Which i had a revolver and fight my enemies.
Which all peoples had revolvers and gunfights and sheriffs..

Nice music. Reminds me of Aaron Copland in places. Composer was
James Newton Howard, written scores for a couple dozen movies. Won
Grammy and Emmy awards.
I visited Tombstone a couple years ago. Town still looks like 1881. The
owner of the Holiday Inn told me they had to build outside the city limits.
No modern buildings allowed.
Wyatt was still alive when my dad was young. His widow Josie was
still alive when I was a kid.

The greatest movies have the greatest scores or soundtracks. Thats not a coincidence. The music makes the movie.

Well Barbielove16, as you could see in the movie he lost his first wife in a dramatic
way - that seems to have been given him a habit "to forget", therefore he also wanted
"to forget" the period when he and Virgil Earp where Sheriffs in Tombstone when
he was an old man. - whatever we think of him - i think he did what was necessary
- and that is all that we need to know..

I too am researching our family tree. My husband is related to the Earp family through his Maternal Grandmother. BTW Wyatt Earp was married 3 times.
1st Marriage to Urilla Sutherland (died within a year of Typhiod)
2nd Marriage to Celian Ann Mattie
3rd Marriage to Josephine "Josie" Sarah Marcus.

Well, "married."
He married the first girl, but apparently only had common-law marriages with the other two.

If you are related to Wyatt Earp, it would have to be through one of his 3 siblings.
Newton (half brother) had 5 kids - one of whom was named Wyatt Earp.
Virgil had 1 kid
Adelia had 3 kids.
The Wyatt Earp was married but never had any children.

Although I enjoyed Tombstone when it first came out, I think the Costner version is the best movie about Wyatt Earp.

Strangely the DVD is double sided...never seen that before.

I disagree. I enjoyed Kurt Russels Wyatt Earp better.
