  • tl:dr

  • Moussa Diabaté, adapts a traditional Malian song about the death of a much-loved hippopotamus who has been shot by a white hunter. In the original song (Mali Sadjo) the griots of the village sing about how difficult it is to be separated from your loved one in death. The singer adapts this song in Tapha Niang to lament the death of his brother Mustapha, who died very young as a child. Moussa draws on the excerpts from the Koran to console him & help him overcome his bereavement.

  • To all people who don't realize this, only the lyrics were cut, not the song.

  • funny how now the song is getting even more attention now!

  • im pretty sure that this is on my version of the game...

  • I don't get it. The guy who made this song was a Muslim and it is a beautiful song. I am all for culturally and religious sensitivity but I do not get why Muslims would be offended in this case. Then again I am not Muslim so that may be why I do not understand.

  • @davidblue23 well I just heard that there was a music in LBP that was somewhat related or concerned Muslim comunity and caused the game to be delayed. Well I'm a muslim but I don't know arabic. Actually I don't even know why they would be angry with something like this. Of course unless it has something to do with our god "ALLAH" but it has nothing to do with it. Well it might be that, THEY THOUGHT, Muslim comunity would be concerned.

  • This song was cut because in some of the lyrics, it translates to "All life on Earth will perish" and other things like that, and because it is 7 and up, they couldnt have that

  • who ever has a problem with this song is gay and stupid :D

  • FUCK ISLAM!

  • @krups123321 you are a racist bitch leave your racist comments to your self

  • @krups123321 islam is jews dumbass

  • @ThroatSpliter

Islam is jew's? Your mum's '' is jew's'' you fucking idiot

  • @ThroatSpliter DUMBASS??? you are. Christians are actually Jews because Christianity seperated from the Jews a long time.

  • @lullertje4 and islam is another branch of judaism

  • @krups123321 it's their religious belief, who are you to judge thousands of years of a religion in the making? You base your opinion of an entire religion on one family?

  • good you know its religious, but find the translated version of the parts of this song.

one part" life must face savred death"

  • im glad they took the lyrics out because littlebigplanet would've got recalled i guess

  • @sonicjellyroll it did, lol

  • I've seen more offensives stuff at LBP than this music. Such as satanic levels...

  • That is the message the song sends right? I'd say it should be expressed. It's a work of art and can be expressed however the people behind it feel it should be. It's like changing the lyrics to a song because it favors Christianity, so we can't speak of God. Really? I'm not a religious person, so none of this bothers me. I don't mind listening to religious music regardless; in fact, I think it's quite nice to listen to and feel the message of the piece. We should be allowed to express our views

  • i don't get it why did it got banned is it bad!?!

  • @GREENATOR1 It's the lyrics."Every soul shall get a taste of death" and somethign else.Muslims find this offensive

  • @Mafiamadefilms Those are two verses from the Qur'an.

Actually, all music is haraam (prohibited) in Islam, so why aren't they complaining about that, but about putting in these two verses?

  • @tauwilltriumph They wanted attention because they're cunts :(

  • So what? I don't care if it's with or without the lyrics.

  • Religion doesn't bother me. I like peaceful religions that spreads the influence of love. I just know atheists usually have had it pretty rough and haven't seen the bright side of waking up and knowing there is a God looking over you with care. I also like the fact that as goes with all questions, there is one book that shares the answers :)

  • I seriously could care less about the religiousness behind this song, the beginning's great and really relaxing.

  • I know that you all want to express your feelings about this song and whatnot, I also agree that muslim people should not be so offended and delicate if they really believe in their religon, however I find it irritating that people go on huge rants in the comments section expecting everybody to agree with them!

  • i liked the delay, why? Because MM don't want any subliminal messages in this game, SAY NO TO SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES :D

  • Mine has both lyrics in some of it and instrumental in others

  • STOP SAYING LONG MESSAGES GOD DAMNIT!

  • im muslim and im actually pretty happy about that they wanted this version its nice that people integrate islam a lil bit in video games in good view like this or assassins creed.. muslim and christian who are pissed of by it should realy get over it end enjoy this relaxing game..

  • @KurdiisH8WarrioR Maybe its people in general not muslim or christian dip shit.

  • Comment removed

  • Wait I dont get it so this song spread conterversy because of its lyrics or what. Who cares anyway it sounds nice.

  • Considering that Diabate is Muslim, I don't really see a reason for yanking the song. Wouldn't its inclusion only anger extremists/fundamentalists? How many hardliners would be playing Little Big Planet?

Oh well. I suppose its being respectful. Only down side is Toumani Diabate not getting as much exposure. Then again, the Suggestions column to the right is full of nothing but this song. Guess it works out.

  • seriously, commenters, you need to relax sometimes. i don't understand why everyone has to express their rage so much and especially to muslims. dont judge them from what you see on tv.

it's not that muslims get offended, it's more-so that it's a sacred thing to us and we don't want it to be misused. that's not so hard to understand, isn't it? whatever happened to consideration?

What the people lack in this world is the ability to make time to learn more about others. it's really sad.

  • @TDSau either you copied and pasted this to look cool or your a genius...enough said.

  • @DirectorLN1 I'll take that as a compliment, thanks ;)

  • Are you kidding me? This is so god damned retarded. Fucking religious zealots always having to look for a fight. Why can't we just have a little tolerance? Lets see... they tried to ban Harry Potter, Golden Compass, hell they even tried to ban Nine. Why do they want everybody to respect their religion when they aren't willing to give an inch? I am displeased.

  • im pagan

  • im a muslim and i just like these people who just say get over it and wat they mean by every soul will have a taste of death is nobody really lives forever

  • im a muslim and i just like these people who just say get over it

  • WELL PERSONALLY I'm SICK OF SHIT BAGS ASKING FOR THUMBS UP!

  • i actualy do not see what is wrong with this compared to the next gangster rapper that talking about killing peoplejust cus he looked at him i mean get real people are ready to big up people like 50 cent and lilwayne because they talk about shit but when somthing muslim comes on all the same wankers start getting heart attacks terrorist.

  • Im a muslim/ arab and yes i heard a few arabic phrases but they are barely understandable..I dont find it offensive in anyway i dont get why people were so pissed off abou tit.

  • @subata45 Don't offend his religion. He is an Atheist not athiest.

  • stupid reason to delay a fun game who prooved to delay this game F*** U!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The proper Version of this song is waaay better than the one they have in LBP now. But of course some retard muslim got offended by it and MM removed the proper version. How could they be offended by this nice song and not by the millions of 9/11 levels showing muslims as horrid little coffee coloured bastards that wreck everything in life? o_O lol

  • Comment removed

  • @Gaomon752 The lyrics are understandable to the ones that know that language... Think bro think....

  • it was this song? this is the reason? this song sounds pretty bad ass, ima download it to my ipod and then play it around every muslim person i see and see if they get offended

  • first of all no one understands these words so how tthe fuck could they be offended?

  • okay it may be offensive but if I were a 5 yr. old and I heard, " oonoo nusee kaitami odeyyyyy omoodoo apeyy" i'd shit my pants

  • I hope the band got compensated for the games that were already released with it already on it.

  • @inachu The first sensible comment I've seen on this video! Good man.

  • Wow!

They delayed the game because someone (basically) said: "People live, and they get old and die, and everyone will see this day!"

I see nothing wrong with that! Sure the game is also for younger audiences, and it's from the Qu'ran, but its a natural process of human life!

  • You guys shut up, first of all not "muslims" wanted this off a muslim organization wanted this off.

Plus you don't even know the meaning of the words so you should go fuck yourself, I'm jewish and I think that if the words really do mean "All that are on earth will perish" the muslim organization was right.

  • i love this song it's so peaceful

but since i dont understand the words i guess to the religiong it "offends" it isnt

  • @polorbeary101 this is a translate from the song from another youtuber. "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

"كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

  • @ninjatrooper thank you i was confused, but at least they didn't lie about what will happen to you

  • Yes, this is offensive, I can clearly understand the song.

  • Wait I play LBP a lot but wats wrong with this song? Is there something raciest and why did they take out the vocals in the song on LBP? Pleas answer my Qs.

  • @pmanfrost as mentioned they have some verses from the Holy Qur'an which some muslims may find offensive since some people says music is a sin in islam but i find it offensive that they take the Qur'an so lightly to put it in a song thats all its something holy u know it shouldnt be made in a song even from any other Holy book like the Bible or Tarot

  • i dont get it little big planet gets recalled for one stupid phrase most people dont care about THEN when i played it theres a level where you fly a plane into the twin towers what the fudge rly how stupids that and even though the lyrics are quite wired to put in a kids game but it just seems more nicer with them or it does to me atleast wow i write a lot of crap there lol :D

  • Geez being religious must suck as hell...

  • @4rk31d nope it makes u comfortable at least i am religious and i dont suck =.=

  • esa cancion es increible!!

  • who cares that is says we will all die and the world will perish its all true

  • Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't care!

  • I remember this song from LBP, so I have heard it in the game. Did they take it out with an update?

    I didn't play LBP for a while so I don't know..

I rly liked this song, didn't know what the translation meant, but couldn't care less tbh.

  • keep religion out of games thats all. There are a quarter of the worlds population who are muslims, there are more muslims than athiests. If this offends them, then take it out. Whats the deal? Why start this controversy anyway, if you know muslims are going to feel offended.

I understand the concept of having faith in youre religion in the face of adversity, yet there is no need whatsoever to stir up controversy for no apparent reason, especially with something as trivial as a game.

  • Tsk....I just rememberer that almost the same thing happened with Zelda OOT in the N64, Nintendo censored the Quoran lyrics of The Fire Temple song and some Muslm signs in the first version of the game, and that version was the most badass......

and now almost happened the same thing with LBP, it would had been better this song instead the censored one, this song with lyrics sounds better.....

  • what time in the song (tell me in like number) does it have the racist bit in it i wanna know plz someone tell me !!!! A.S.A.P!

  • i like itmore without the words,,,

  • this song has nothing to do with the quran people!! IT JUST SAYS EVERY PERSON WILL TASTE DEATH,AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE QURAN

  • Except that it's a line from the Quran....

  • Comment removed

  • I had no idea about the problem with the song. I heard their was a delay and this song was still in it but without the lyrics. Such words don't seem to fit with such good music

  • its a good song

  • In little big planet the world is about creativity and imagination .yes this is a religious song.but you shouldn't be offended. there god/gods are just as real as our god/gods.the little big planet should be aloud to express beliefs without being banned or hated for it.we all live in this world we must learn to make it work.

  • @Triset78744 i dont believe in any god im born i live i die thats it good day to you 2

  • I DONT GET IT?

  • little big planet was delayed to cut this song to avoid religous controversy.

  • its in there they just cut the words.

  • nvm read it wrong

  • This is a good song.

  • I got the game before they cut this song from the game :D Too bad they have to cut it, its the best song of the game :/

  • i know

  • i really cant understand why muslims got pissed D: its a really nice song, and the lyrics are true :/ yeah maybe it will occur in thousands of years but it certainly will xD

they're so fanatic with every single thing :S

    its just words!!

and... if you feel ofended dont buy the damn game xDD

    i totally agree with Ferdy1337

if you enjoy being apart from the rest of the world then keep doing it! just dont try to screw others culture :/

i have the first edition of the game btw :3

  • it doesn't sound so bad =P

but for in LBP, it's better without the singing, IMO

  • you know it is funny the muslims haven't gone after WoW yet for the Male draini (SP?) his dance and theme music has middle eastern origins.

  • The "theme music and dance" is from the song Tunak Tunak Tun, which is Indian... not middle eastern...

  • I remember once in the "Warioland" series where the ending credits have the "F" word in it.

    And it hasn't been edited.

  • Im an atheist and Im sick of ppl going nuts becuz some1 insulted their religion in some lame way. I hope u all die. If you really are a true believer and really have full faith in ur religion you WOULDNT care about others apinnion at all. And THAT is something I have great respect for. Being able to believ for yourself and NOT wanting the approval of others. Any1 who agree to this please vote up this comment. Thank you.

  • @Ferdy1337 I agree

  • @Ferdy1337 Can't say I necessarily disagree with you, but it's interesting having an atheist tell people of faith what they should and shouldn't believe...

  • @Ferdy1337 u really got a point there bro i believe the same thought i am a muslim i am told to concentrate on my own religion and just leave others to their own religion

  • @Ferdy1337 I agree, I'm tired of the racist bullshit that people are pulling, causing havoc for everyone else

  • @Ferdy1337 dude... please spell and talk right. athiest not atheist and someone not some1. you not u. your not ur. opinion not apinnion. believe not believ. anyone not any1. just pointing out the text chat sayings and spelling mistakes that is all.

  • @subata45 Yea you got a point.. I did write this pretty fast and yes I did spell some words wrong. However pointing out to me that some1, u, and ur should be changed is just plain stupid.. You know that those phrases are just short for the real thing.. How ever I did write apinion instead of opinion and Atheist instead of Athiest.. The "Apinion" mistake was actually just a fuck up and I know how that is spelled. What I did not know was that "Atheist" is spelled Athiest.. so thanks for that one.

  • @Ferdy1337 im not muslim but you cant take that so lightly, the muslim religion was founded by a warlord who used oppression and propaganda over many years infact, even today people are dying for defiance of their religion, America is at war with muslim terrorists. They dont joke about threatening people, media molecule could have gone kabloowie if they released this game. I still agree though that it sucks they have to cause such an aawsome game to be delayed.

  • @webber121 Where do you get your misinformation? Mohammad was, at bestm a merchant. And illiterate to boot.

As for this song, I, as a Muslim, don't find it offensive. In fact, I find it's beautiful that the Qu'ran was integrated into music, as it shows how lyrical it truly is.

  • @webber121 U SUCK

  • @webber121 Fox/Tea Party talking points detected.

    Please ignore this post.

  • @Ferdy1337 I'm a Muslim, and I approve of this message.

  • @Ferdy1337 why thumb this up -_-

  • @Ferdy1337 dont wish death even on the worst of men

  • @moltensand So glad you said that, so that I didn't have to.

  • @Ferdy1337 this nigga is right plus this song is kinda sickass

  • wtf are u saying??

  • And to KurdiisH8WarrioR, you're wrong. A specific request was made by a Muslim to have the vocal content of the song removed. Sony acquiesced to their request, and pulled the game to change the track.

  • Yeah, except words from a book won't catch fire and kill someone. There was nothing deadly about the words themselves, only about the reactions to them. That's the problem.

  • Just to clear things up, Sony removed the words to the song only to play it safe. It was not in response to any outrage, jihad, crusades, pogroms, hijackings, or beheadings. If your company made exploding laptop batteries you would play it safe too.

  • hahaha, oh wow

WE WILL BEHEAD ALL THOSE WHO HAVE THIS GAME

    WE ARE STILL PEACEFUL THOUGH

    FROM ONE LITTLE FUCKING SONG

  • It would have been an insult to some people. You hardly ever get any "Christian" music (since they consider this muslim) in a video game. Also, what verse is this of? It depends on what it is, because the quran is partly a 1:1 copy of the Holy bible, just has no new testiment that is completely same as the Holy Bible.

  • A very similar thing happened with LoZ Ocarina of Time. There was muslim prayer chants in the background music, and got removed after people starting complaining.

  • bcuz these muslims be saying some weird ass things on their songs haha then putting them on games

  • hey people ...

not even 1 muslim wanted that this song gets deleted sony did it cuz sony didnt wanna bring any religious stuff in that game or something like that stop saying bad things to other people and acting like a thug here on youtube its very pointless guys sry for my bad english i gave my best =(

    peace =D

  • its a beautiful song, Im glad its still in there even without the vocals its still beautiful

  • this is the best song on littlebigplanet

  • NO tha hell it isnt the song called battles-atlas is tha best!!!

  • it offends the anti-religious and anti-muslim nutjobs!!

  • What i dont get is, if this offends muslim people then why did muslims sing it lol.

  • it offends the anti-religious and anti-muslim nutjobs!!

  • they must have been sacreligious muslims...

  • i am a muslim and i really like this song. the arabic words he says are "every soul shall taste death" that is a beutiful phrase from the quran. but the only reason why they removed it is because we believe that the words of god cannot be put in tune, we did not go crazy about the lyrics of the song but the company said to prevent any religious hate. so i thank media molecule for that.

  • yeah the song its beautiful tho..at least the song its still there they only removed the lyrics.. XD ..I understand why they removed it now. still a great game

  • This is SO... AMAZING SOUNDING!!!! I cant see how anyone would (or could for that matter) Throuw the freedom of speech aside and censor such a beutiful song for such a petty reason...

  • If you got offended by words in a song then you need pull whatever is shoved up your ass OUT, and stop taking yourself so seriously... Get a life and leave everyone else alone. So much time and money was wasted to just to appease YOU!

  • Well all religion is a bullshit lie and those who live by it are fools to the system.

Words and music are a way of expression, not to be taken seriously.

  • tell that to those million extremists...

  • Well those Million extremists will never be helped, its taking this time now to set the record straight.

To whoever Disagreed with my other comment your misguided fools, there is no helping you deluded people.

For every day you prey to a God, your giving away your freedom and self importance.

  • First of all, i don't see why you need to call others "fools" because they do not follow your ideology. Others have different ways of looking at things. People can think what they want and not what they you want them to think. Don't be selfish and let people think what they want.

  • What you say holds no ground.

  • blackrain what do you believe in? a man cannot be without a reason to live and to die. think about that.

  • sounds a wee bit mexican

  • I would be offended too if this was released in the game. But only because the instrumental version we have now is way better. It fits better with the entire platforming thing, and it is background music now, just as it is supposed to be.

  • Where can I find the instrumental version on Youtube?

  • I've seen translations of the entire song, there really isnt anything offensive in it whatsoever. I think the problem is, some form of muslum group complained it was offensive and made threats due to the lyrics in the song. This is why religion needs to die, it creates too much oppression and censorship, without any reward. They offended a terrorist group and got scared so they took the words out.

  • i think it was meant to be offensive....and I jam to this song when I play sometimess

  • wait, this is still in the game isnt it?

  • yeah, but without the lyrics.. it wasnt the beat that was offending people, it was the fact that the lyrics alone had parts from the Qu'ran which were offending people

  • Is there a God? well havent noticed him so i guess i dont care i dont ever and lol FUCKED UP MUSIC. keep in mind this is my opinion and dont say that im fucked up cuse i dont care. lol. lol. no seriously i dont care.(gimme -50 ^^ and ye im bored)

  • Umm.. I'm muslim and I didn't hear this from the Qor'an.

  • Maybe it is but, Isn't this speaking out? I don't really find it offensive.

  • Amazing song, and i don't think that this song in of itself in offensive at all but putting the words of the qu'ran, a sacred text, in a video game or anything for that matter like a t-shirt, bumper sticker, hat, etc. is what can be offensive to some. just like how religious people should keep an open mind, you should see their perspective and see why they might possibly be offended. sony handled this wrong though, they shouldn't have delayed it. should've done something else to remove the words

  • ive heard of people sayin that they should've quietly released a patch to remove the words and even though this doesn't work for those w/o internet connection, it's definitely better than what sony did. with this delay, the media has really blown this thing out of proportion.

  • Muslims need to shut the hell up, if one is offended then he doesn't have to fucking play the game. You non-muslims need to ESPECIALLY shut the fuck up and quit looking for reasons to be offended on other peoples' behalf. It's not like sony gives a damn, they just don't want any sand monkeys blowing up their office building.

  • Its really not that it is not bad way, but Muslims believe that God or his book should not be in anyway associated to music. Someone might think thats odd, but look at it this way. God wants his words to be loved for itself, and have the words adored, not the music that is associated with it. So when it was found like this, respect to the belief is the main thing. Also same reason Muslims debated on wikipedia, because people have pictures of our prophet, when muslims do not allow pictures of them

  • See the problem is, the song isn't about the Quran. He is just using it as a prologue to his song, hell if someone didn't know about the qu'ran, he would still want to get the jist about the song just before he starts singing it, because it is after all, about his brother and the memories they share. Now if someone were to make a song with the Qur'an in mind, and people finally start following in the belief, that means they would need music to follow the way of life as a muslim... that is wrong.

  • See using something as a means for justifying your belief, so a picture, or a statue, or music (in this case people have the wrong idea). Yes these ideals are offensive, because it is the fact that we should believe something that is not an idol, or a picture. Which is why in Islam, we do not permit pictures (i.e of God [Allah], and prophets.

  • lol the same guy who wrote it complained

  • i don't get it... how is offending muzlems????

  • See, had this been a christian song, the game wouldn't have been delayed.

Why are we so fixated on the idea that white is right?

  • muslims complaned, sony bent over backwards. where you got 'Why are we so fixated on the idea that white is right?' is beyond me.

  • What do the lyrics mean translated? Unless its something offensive in which upset case im upset that they didnt play the song with the original lyrics. I dont care what anyone says I think it sounds 2x better with lyrics and im dissapointed that LBP wouldnt stand their ground.

  • The controversial lyrics and translations are:

"كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

"كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

  • why6 is that offensive?

    it happens anyway.

  • the reason y it is offencive to us is because these are word from our book and we belive in them they are not ment to be made into a song its just respecting us, not to put words that (well if you dont belive in god then..... yea whatever)god wrote.... im not sure how to explain it. but it is disrespectful... dont hate on me..!!

  • bah, even it's in a different laungage.

    what i can tell...

"كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death')

"كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish')

all it means is we will all die with time. hell, even as i type this; people are dying

  • makes sense, since the singer Moussa Niang is singing about his little brother Tapha who passed away, how he is crying and missing him, but how you just have to accept Gods will, accept death as you accept birth.

not all muslims are against music. in west africa it is quite common to quote the Qur'an in songs.

  • the qur'an verses make sense, I mean
