Actually, the human body can survive 3 weeks without food aka "earth matter". However, if you condition yourself, you can certainly go longer. This applies to sleep as well. Scientists and physicians have concluded that the average human adult does NOT actually "need" sleep. Its something that was bred into us. But, you cant just decide one day to starve and not sleep, you have to condition yourself into it.

This was a great show. Ugh It's such a shame it got cancelled...I love how it was both funny and serious like the confrontation scene with Sam and Adam. Great writing on Schaeffer's part.

People like Shanti are the reason I don't do yoga or follow a guru anymore. I met people like that in the new age movement all the time. It's nobody's business but your own what bugs/rodents you choose to kill or what you eat. To force people into your way of thinking is a form of spiritual arrogance. So annoying.

Those last two scenes are heart wrenching. I can so relate to both of those characters. The loneliness and denial of Adam, and the desperation and helplessness of Dan.

The people who raised an uproar about this show didn't see past the headline. This show has some awesome potential.

How can people say that this show made light of eating disorders? This is one of the only accounts of EDs I've ever seen that has taken them seriously enough and treated them as the life-threatening disorders that they are. AND it shows that anyone can have one...not just 13 year old girls.

I agree. The guy who played Same wrote and directed it, as well as starring in, suffered from and ED himself. So I doubt he would take it lightly.
