In 2002 the NBA league went Hollywood when the NBA commissioner David stern ordered 2 refs to manipulate the series when a small market Sacramento kings team taking the lead in the series 3-2 and Putting LA in risk of being eliminated . game 6 is the worst officiated game in NBA history with 27 fts in the 4th quarter alone full of phantom call to make sure LA won the game , why ??? the game is global the league will make 100x when LA is in the finals compared to a small market kings team .
@impassable Clark had off court problems. They had to get rid of Wallace in the expansion draft. They were only allowed to protect the starters and one bench player.
If I recall the Kings only had 8 players suited up that night and they completely dominated the spurs from the start. DC had a record in steals and the Kings had only 3 turnovers. One of the best regular season games I have ever seen!
Great numbers yes. But Doug's ball handling is what made the Kings offense so dynamic with Vlade and Cwebb passing from the high post and them the PG became a shooter and pick and roll guy. It was such an amazing thing to watch!! Didn't know how good we had it :(
LOL that was the year Peja was an MVP candidate before his meltdown and Webber was injured for most of the year and when he finally came back he totally disrupted the team's chemistry and they were knocked out early in the playoffs
game 6 was fixed , or they would have had a championship , david stern wanted the lakers to have a 3peat , is why the league fixed the game , that and the ratings of a game 7
They wouldn't have been a dynasty. They could've won in 02 but they wouldn't have been a dynasty. I feel bad because I liked the Kings before they got rid of the team.
I loved that team too. I used to get so excited whenever they played, but now I don't feel that same level of excitement. The late 2005-06 season, when they finished the season 25-11 was the last time I even came close to feeling as thrilled when watching the Kings.

I never understood why the Kings got rid of Clark? or Gerald Wallace for that matter.

@therockbanddude Okay, I always thought they could protect like 10 players. That would make sense then.

I just wish webber didnt get that kneeinjury..
and they beat the timberwolves in 04.. they lost game 2 carelessly. they could have won that series.
I'm not going to say kings shud have won in 02. But if anyteam could go against shaw and kobe like that.. well.. they are a great team.
They had atleast 3 good attempts at a championship. It just didn't click. One or two things kept going wrong.
