  • you sound very german !

  • this is my new obsesion, everyday i come home and look up vids on the pandora. i want one sooo bad!!!!!!!

  • i know right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • With my first paycheck I would like to purchase a Pandora.

How much is it for one (in the US)?

How would I go about purchasing one... or two?

    Thanks

  • @mustang750r - They have a website somewhere, you can order for the second batch.

It's $350 USD or 330 EUR, if I read the site right.

  • Screw Netbooks. I need to get one O.O

  • Jesus christ, there is no amount of descriptive terms in the world that can possibly do justice to the amount I want one of these. Its like a nebook that had a fight with a PSP and became better, cheaper, faster and cooler. This is nerd-porn at its very best.

  • you can watch porn with it

  • I love you evil dragon.

  • I WANT PANDORA

  • instent messages cool

  • MUST HAVE!!!

  • I just can't wait. I'm getting one ASAP.

And to all those that game thumbs-down to the anti islam post, You seen any Christians blowing them selves up to kill as many people as possible? The thing started well, but many have people have turned it bad.

  • Don't make a correlation between religion and crime. I'm telling you this as an agnostic: I could make tons of connections between religion and crime, but at the end of the day, it comes down to the people. There have been more terrorist Christian groups then Muslim groups.

  • tiggxtreme is right... im christian and i agree crime and religion are not related, its just human... and an example for the typical christian terrorist is samon from the bible.. ( samson and delilah )

  • It's pretty pathetic that anyone would "thumbs down" triggxtreme's post.

He made a perfectly valid point (even if you don't like it).

  • The screen jumps a lot when he presses it :/

  • Yeah, but look at the bottom - it's not attached to anything other than a few cables. This is one of those intestines-hanging-out-without-a-body type of things I think, not the assembled console. And I'd probably personally hold the monitor mostly while tapping.

  • ranting and complaining are shit tiers!

  • Hey this is nice, very intriguing.

Also, I love your accent. ^-^

  • able to play AssaultCube and make things with pygame?

  • I hope so, but since it's open-source there's really no reason you can't use pygame on it.

  • This is, of course, cool. Putting a USB HSDPA adaptor in there, running SIP and Skype the whole day on a battery, this should be able to replace any mobile phone. Plus it can ping on incoming email, chat activity, incoming instant messages and give you a constant RSS and Twitter overview.

  • how do you plan running skype on it?

    its not open source

  • Skpe is available for Linux.. otherwise ARM Texas Instruments Cortex should contact Skype to get it ported..

  • lol

    not gonna happen

  • if Skype doesn't provide Skype for it then there is SIP VOIP that I guess should work. Skype just released a client for Android Linux which runs on the same processor that is in the Open Pandora project.

  • skype producers didnt ported it into x86_64, so why they should port it into ARM?

  • Skpe is already available for ARM, Skype works on Android, iphone, nokia N-series and more, all of those are ARM based.

  • I was going to thumb up your comment, but I accidently thumbed it down. Sorry about that. :/

  • I bet nothing that all the current Pandora haters in this world. Will call the Pandora the best thing since slice bread when someone gets they hand on one and reviews it.

(I'm not a Pandora hater btw. I can't wait to get one in the next batch! Long live Pandora!!)

  • If you want to watch this video in its original high definition, just add &fmt=22 after the video tag, not &fmt=18.

  • awesome :D

  • pandora wont have awesome old games like starcraft and diablo except for the crappy console versions. aigo mid is better since it can run windows xp.

  • yeah, but its way more expensive, has lower battery life, and no gaming controls

  • linux... wine... google...

  • Due to using a ARM cpu. Wine won't be able to run on the Pandora. You can't natively run x86 games on a ARM device.

  • blast you're right - and though there's emulation, even old diablo/starcraft may still be too slow :(

I'll have to agree - till it's out, there's no way to rate it. Still, the video does show it working cleaner than my omap2 equipped n800 - so I'm hoping for the best.

Canonical has made a big announcement during the summer about supporting arm - so while a lot of games wont work, there ought to be enough libraries out there to get other stuff - emulators/interpreters/popular ports out. q3ftw!

  • From the forum someone got it to play warcraft2 through dosbox emulation without hardware acceleration. And craig said it has the potentional to do doom3. I don't see why it can play older games like diablo, systemshock and thief, after optimizing.

  • warcraft 2 is pretty light - the old dos version should be emulateable in dosbox. Doom3 - like a lot of id's games - would have linux source which can be compiled and optimized on LOTS of platforms. Other games though lighter would have to be emulated - not simply recompiled.

  • "aigo mid is better since it can run windows xp"

Great, you just confirmed it sucks without me even having to look at it. Intel based handhelds are a horrible idea. Since you've displayed evidence that you are slightly retarded I won't even bother trying to convince you. Go spend a fortune on that aigo mid if you wish, just understand that it's in no way a valid competitor to the product shown here. Your comments are unwelcome, and pointless.

  • why are they a horrible idea? do you just hate windows or something? being able to run windows means I can have thousands of pieces of software with me. With a pandora you will be stuck with shoddy open source clones at best. Arm was really good but now that we have pocketable x86 devices I see no reason to continue with arm. When the next generation of intel mids comes out arm will be completely useless.

  • "now that we have pocketable x86 devices I see no reason to continue with arm"

    Good for you.

Since you've displayed evidence that you are slightly retarded I won't even bother trying to convince you. Go spend a fortune on that aigo mid if you wish, just understand that it's in no way a valid competitor to the product shown here. Your comments are unwelcome, and pointless.

  • You know I could keep pasting my original reply repeatedly and you would probably keep responding with these inane retorts, totally ignoring the point. But it's failing to amuse me so I think I'll stop here. I liked "open sores" though. That was clever. Good job!

  • cool story bro

  • Linux is actually doing quite well. If it doesn't attract people like you, that is an big plus as well.

  • Like what? Anti-virus programs?

  • oh u!

  • They're a terrible idea because of the fact that Intel seems incapable of creating very low power chips. Even the Atom chips use significantly more power than their ARM equivalents. They also produce more heat, making them less suitable for handheld use. Much of this power consumption comes from the x86 architecture, and therefore there isn't really anything Intel can do about it as long as they continue to produce chips based around that architecture.

  • "When the next generation of intel mids comes out"

Well, when it does, you just let me know.

And show me how to install linux on it and write my own programs.

  • This gadget isn't meant to compete with Intel mid devices of any kind. It's a gaming handheld with the added bonus of being a general-purpose pocket/portable computer.

It has strong points in emulation of other machines such as ZX Spectrum, C64, Amiga, PlayStation 1, SNES... virtually every gaming platform prior to PS2.

It's also very easy to develop new and original games for, being based on a widely-documented platform with mature, free dev tools.

  • The one thing i am excited about, is the possibility of N64

  • It will be interesting to see if an N64 emulator can run at a playable speed. I'd guess it is possible. I can't remember what spec PC it took to run UltraHLE, back in the day. I think it was somewhere around the 1GHz mark, whereas the Pandora runs a 600MHz CPU. Still, different architecture entirely, so I'm just speculating :)

  • I know Pandora can be over clocked to 900MHz, so theres a possibility

  • There's an almost-full speed (full speed for several games) N64 emulator on the PSP (sound and all), I'm sure a full-speed one on the Pandora is completely possible.

  • God I can't wait for the next batch to go on sale. I'll be ready for it this time!

  • will have python or gcc for devkits?

  • yes of course you'll be able to develop ON it! the list of the things we're not going to be able to do with this beast it's very short :)

  • HD version is not loading. ):

  • this guy sounds like a dumbass on the internet lol

  • I love kermit the frog :D

  • lol

  • no u

  • LOL, they are twice as expensive, aren't as extendable, don't have dedicated gaming controls and don't even come close on battery life.

    No competition...

  • This was a reply to lolersss' comment on the aigo and M528.

  • It can be viewed with fmt=22 now

  • Sexy

  • ED, could you download a file with your pandora + firefox and show us the download speed? I remember on the ipod touch and my nintendo ds downloading speed sucks, so this is quite an important topic for me. although it looks like firefox is as fast as on the computer, meaning "normal" d/l speeds. Plus, seeing you launch Q2, PandaSnes or Psx4pandora from matchbox would also be yummy :) And, is Youtube running yet? i guess not, but when it does, it would'be be great to see a video of that

  • This is running on USB networking and real Pandora browsing will probably be WLAN based most of the time so file downloading via USB networking would hardly be representative of the speed you will get when you actually use the device. The DS WLAN is very limited while the Pandoras should be faster than most internet connections.

  • This video. It won't load.

    D:

  • lol, fucked up at the end xD

  • Awesome post Evil Dragon, what file manager did you go with in the end?

  • Hellollo! :D
