This was one of the most interesting concepts for an unsold pilot I've ever seen. The problem is, the format was a little too broken. Like, the second pilot took too long, they decided to just give up on the match all together.
Just so you don't feel weird for not remembering it, it was a pilot aired on an experimental cable system only in Columbus, OH, and only in homes that had been wired with special cable boxes. So there were, no joke, only about 200 people who saw this.
the win cue and the prize cue cue sound an awful lot like the theme from the big showdown
a format like this would work better today I think with better prizes and such, obviously it would have to be done live. and you could incorporate text messaging into it.
If you mean where's Pilot #2, I don't have it. If you mean where's the middle of the game, I should clarify this and the other clip I have are different episodes.
Every pizza response from the people at the mall was hilarious!

my choice for "worst host podium"...Bill probably had to see a doctor after the taping

@CentralValley100 Bill usually sat behind a podium for most of the shows he hosted. This was because he had contracted polio during his childhood.

Thanks for the reply. I actually looked up this show and saw that. But for some reason, I still feel weird.... =]

Even if this was just a test of the system, it seems to be pretty good for its time.

Believe it or not, the theme was once wanted to be a part of "Match Game", but never made it.

it sounds alittle like the match game prize plug which GSN doesn't air.

Interesting shots of the late great Northland Mall from back in the day...

Wow... the Warner logo at the end looks like a "work-in-progress" version of Warner Home Video's 1978 logo.

The announcer sounds like a rather unenthusiastic version of Gary Owens, if you ask me...
Also, the music seems to be nothing more than a "Savers" rip-off...

oh, it's the third PILOT, I see. Quite a coup to get Bill Cullen in Columbus, OH. Home of the Ohio State University.

I dont know whats more irritating. the think music for this, or the think music for the magnificent marble machine.
burr1aj 4 years ago
This, easily. "Magnificent Marble Machine"'s think music was no worse than your average default ringtone.
