  • Beautiful piece and beautiful playing :)

  • Incredible

  • That was incredible. I know firsthand how difficult this song is, it's unbelievably hard, but you pulled it off with grace and finesse. Amazing.

  • That was so amazing and beautiful :) you are really gifted thanks for the performance!

  • y r cool man. i know its really hard to play. respect u.

  • One of best ive seen.

  • I'm so envious! Oh my GOD!

How I wish that could be me. Beautifully done amigo.

    BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!

  • m ot tat much intrstd in piano but i watch dis jst 4r the sake of the 1 tat i luv most...now,i realise wat true music is

  • @Mikenamei All you need to do now is learn how to write.

  • ♫Perfect♪ ♥

  • just listen to the music and it tells you what the music really are. not the tempo or the rhythm or what so ever. but every note of it make the whole song touch your inner part of yer self.

  • maravilhoooooooooooooooooooooooso

  • Beautiful makes me cry every time i hear it i have no idea why it just does

  • you got the timing just right!

  • this piece can never be too slow, and certainly not too expressive, this is better than many recordings I've heard

  • It is realy good !!!

And not too slow maybe sometimes a bit too fast.

    But realy well done ;)

  • Too slow in many parts. This piece needs a certain pace in the more complex parts to keep the listeners ear.

  • @shemseven its pure perfection. Its not to slow. You can feel the emotion in his work. Some poeple play too fast, some too slow. This was spot on!!

  • @medicgirl88 emotion is not meant to be a big part of the piece. Yes, it's beautiful. But too much emotion is bad - this guy, I hear little emotion. I just hear notes being bashed at points, and a weird tempo.

  • @Passionofawriter Let me part on some wisdom. If you are used to a certain tempo and are then exposed to a player who has a differing tempo to the normal, it's up to you to change the way you see the timing in your brain to actually hear the this interpretation properly, in fact as a direct result of this you'll feel the emotion too. When you do end up doing that, you'll see that this is full of beauty.

  • @sizduman yes, but you realize that debussy's intentions for this piece are not the interpretation that is being displayed - 'moonlight' is what it's called. Debussy didn't intend for the piece to be played at such tempo, and though the interpretation is creative it's not in correlation with Debussy's view himself.

  • @sizduman I disagree. What if he waited five minutes between the notes? Should I just adjust to see the beauty of the tempo then as well? There are different tempos to music, yes, I agree, musicians, composers and conductors clearly interpret music in their own way. However, in my view, if there is too long a gap between chords, changes and notes, the mind loses the grasp of the melody and the tune. It loses its effect. This is what is happening here I believe

  • @shemseven I completely agree with you. This work is a suite and this movement is a dance. Considering that, I think the space between the chords (and sometimes phrases) are too static. It might just be the recording environment as well. BUT, I think this interpretation would have been fantastic if he could make those silences move to the next sounds. I know it's possible, because my piano lecturer keeps on harping about it. ;)

  • Thank you for what you do!!

  • Bravo, Bravo, encore! Che bella!!

  • I appreciate and respect your talent...... nicely done.

  • liebe <3

  • I am doing this song for an audition for a university and enjoyed watching this to prepare myself for what was ahead in the process for learning this piece. Thank you

  • One of the best interpretations of this piece on Youtube. Bravo.

  • Ich liebe, wie dieser Mann, wie ein normaler Mensch aussieht, aber in actuallity er ist ein Genie!

  • @lordximar22 ich liebe, wie du zweisprachig schreibst :D

  • I love this song :) great job!

  • Bravo!

  • Good for you man. I've watched your other videos too. Damned fantastic.

  • I could watch this guy play over and over again. Just awesome!

  • You play very well. I hope one day to be as good as you.

  • fuck twilight, oceans eleven was good, but that seen from the right stuff is probably the best use of this in movies. Anyone agree?

  • Vraiment bravo, c'est superbe !

  • A good musician will recognise his mistakes and improve upon them. A great musician has no mistakes, just happy accidents!

  • Are you improvising hear or did you learn this by ear? I like your not sticking to the sheet approach.

  • Are you improvising hear or did you learn this by ear? I like your not sticking to the sheet approach.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Nice version. Leaving the minor mistakes and schizophrenic tempo aside, your touch could be a little better distributed, sometimes the melody is lost. Maybe try using the mute pedal more. Also maybe have another look at the music at the end cuz it doesn't end the way you played it. Good effort though!

  • @RodtheFierce IT'S CALLED INTERPRETATION TEMPO

  • @laurag333 Sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I was just offering some positive criticism. If I can offer a little more, there's no such thing as interpretation tempo. This piece can be played slow, moderate or fast the whole way through but you cannot repeatedly change the tempo. It cheapens the effect of rubato. And to play Debussy correctly you need effective use of rubato.

  • Fuck Ocean's Elevan, it's all about The Darjeeling Limited. "Let's get high."

  • timing is spot on, you give it elegance and heart. Flawless

  • Wonderful!

  • This is absolutely magnificent. I LOVE the timing..... slow and filled with soul.

  • Une performance supérieure. Bravo!!!

  • Brilliant! Well played.

I wish I was a good as all of the perfectionists who sit at their keyboards and mistype their criticisms of you...:-)

    You have a talent.

  • Its too slow

  • his playing is flawless!

  • It was around 2008 maybe June or what that I've heard Clair De Lune from this man FOR THE FIRST TIME and not from Twilight. Thank you sir for sharing your video.

  • I'm tempted to put me playing this on youtube but Im worried I'll get ripped to pieces over the tiniest mistake like some of these people do!

  • Nice work! I like how when you realized you screwed up at 4:27 you just kept rolling with it and fixed it, no one would even notice!

  • very nice!

  • Perfect tempo- unhurried and atmospheric. Many Thanks.

  • Well done man, this was a very nice rendition

  • Perfect rolling music.

  • A beautiful production of a genius' work!

  • beautifully done, really catches the intentional pause between every breath.

but just little suggestion that can play around the tempo in-between "sentences", slow in-increase speed, and fade out.... hope you can understand what I meant, I felt emotionally a bit flat.

  • When I was a 3 or 4-year-old girl,my sister bought me a music box which played this tune.I hadn't known its name until I was 10.Since then,I began to love Debussy's music.Everytime I listened to this beautiful melody,I think of my lovely childhood:)

  • Beautifully done.

  • I totally agree with making this your own tempo and feel, doesn't matter about those little diversions, improvisation and composing are as good as anything

  • Wonderful. Love the tempo, your stress and expression, an overall good performance. Just one tiiiny annoying thing: KEEP THOSE HANDS ON THE KEYS UNTIL YOU LET GO OF THE PEDAL GOD DAMMIT xD

  • 168 pages wow ,..wonderful whether for or against ,..that is a wonderful achievement ,..I love this peice of music, I dont play the piano at all but would dearly have loved to,..

thank you for this you play so beautiful,.thank you,.

  • I love the way you play this piece, and I love that you're so unpretentious. It's about the music, not what you're wearing. I checked out lots of videos looking for one I'd want to come back to again and again, and this is it. You play beautifully.

  • I've been playing piano since I was five and I can totally feel you feeling the music!!! Such a lovely job! Absolutely beautiful!!!! :)

  • So beautiful!! :") classical music sometimes really makes me cry..

  • Beautifully played.

  • absolutely fucking beautiful.

  • I agree, much nicer played slower, the cords. Good Job !!!

  • I actually really liked how you played it slower than most people play it. Thats how I usually play it, and I feel like you can hear all the beautiful chords and sounds a lot better without rushing through it. Thanks :)

  • Too slow, I know it's Rubato and all but i nearly fell asleep no offense

  • his sloppy ugly attire is distracting from this piece. The most beautifully played "Claire de Lune" is by Victor Borge in one of his shows.

  • @freeqwerqwer Troll harder.

  • his sloppy ugly attire is distracting from this piece

  • @freeqwerqwer lol

  • Good not too fast like the others =]

  • Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

  • I'm madly jealous. Superb playing.

  • Beautiful.

    Good job, man.

  • wow, just wow

  • amazing..excellent!

  • Beautiful.

This reminds me of the film "The Pianist".

  • and i thought i could play this song

  • WOW.

    i mean, WOW.

  • I love it!! It's a great playing!

  • Thanks.

  • Fuck Twilight, its all about Oceans Elevennnn :D

  • @Madness4L1Fe

    dont hate on TWILIGHT!

  • very gd!

  • I think it´s not a great perfomace.. bad posture, lack of interpretation and it´s out of tempo.

  • @elciozoo not bad posture. its better to lean forward a little bit when playing piano

  • I am the only one that can't get past the AWFUL SOUND QUALITY here?!? Sorry! Good playing though!

  • that is exactly what i call PASSION...

  • his mouth was open the entire time

  • @scarface540075 who cares?

  • @scarface540075 LOL made me laugh :D

  • I've seen many people play this piece, but I keep coming back to this one. You play very beautifully

  • An incredibly moving piece, beautifully played. Bravo!

  • great job but i feel that its a little 2 loud.... it mite just b ur microphone, but especially in the "calmato" section ur left hand over powers your fight and it should b softer... other than that great representation and it looks like your really having fun with it :)

  • @jigglypugz lyke thiss, laaa da da... dadada duuum daaa daaa!

    Chapin Rockzzz!!! ^^

  • You need a new recording microphone, ASAP. Up until 2:15, I thought it was beautiful. After that, it was amazing. Thank you for taking the time to record this awesome piece of artwork for the rest of us.

  • I always wondered where Tom Green disappeared to.

  • This is a really nice work chopan made I hope he makes more

  • @TheSingingCello WTF?!?! number ONE this is debussy number TWO its spelled CHOPIN number THREE this is by Debussy number FOUR chopin is dead and so is debussy!!!! IF this is ur reresentation on music id hate 2 hear how ur cello sings!

  • Chopin was born in Poland ;)

  • You did a really nice job playing. Thumbs way up. Don't see any reason for anyone to thumb it down.

  • On behalf of my people (the tone-deaf, ten thumbed, talentless noise polluters) I'd like to say I am in awe of anyone with this sort of talent. Thanks.

  • I've only heard this song so it was nice to see someone play it, especially as well as you did! I really felt the hesitation and building up of suspense. Thanks.

  • 62 people r losers

  • What gets me is that there's no sheets at all. He knows this from heart.

  • @rethgifmodeerferutuf of course haha. that's a given

  • oceans eleven :)

  • your playing is impeccable

  • This is so beautiful. I wish I could play it like that. I can only play an easier version : (

  • beautiful!

  • Chapeau my friend! on my way to practice now.

  • I wish I had the talent to play this on my piano ..... and other Debussey pieces... Debusseys music is the music of the home I have designed and live in

  • Yeah and when I go to play this for friends, family, or at my recital and people say "Hey that's the song from Twilight." I should get up and be like" no this song isn't from fucking Twilight it's from Claude Debussy."

  • @lethaface

Seriously you don't know what you are talking about. This is the finest pianist on YouTube with a vast catalogue. Imagine if he wasn't filming in his front room on a cheap camcorder. Yet his timing and interpretation is impeccable. Find any other Clair de Lune that comes close. Ditto all his work. His fingerwork makes me want to die with jealously. Nature has made a mistake giving you ears but nothing to hear with. I only write because what you see as mechanical is the genius of this

  • @pangaea999 this guy is very good. You might also like this video of clair de lune by vika. She's one of the best on here, seriously. watch?v=njsS01GWu-c

  • @pangaea999 He's OK, but the piece is played a little too unevenly tempo-wise (though I've heard much worse). And...oops...forgot he was at the end of the piece and almost went back to the middle before correcting. An easy enough mistake, but why not record again and put it on correctly (and fix the incorrect notes in the first arpeggio in the middle section)

  • @bkr1969 Why don't you do it instead?

  • omg everyone needs to give it up with twilight, whoooo cares if it was in a movie??! it doesn't change that this is an amazing song and that this guy played it beautifully :)

  • this is beautiful, u are verry talented. i did cover of clair de lune, not as good as your, but if some ppl could just kinda chek it out, id be thankful

  • the "middle" part of the song (ie from 2:16 to 3:16) sounds deliberate - mechanical almost. if i may be even more harsh, you do know you have posted a video on youtube for everyone to see your playing a piece with several erroneous notes?

  • @llethaface11 you do know that who cares it's just a video of him playing a song, not a concert at madison square gardens. shut up, assclown.

  • @llethaface11 douche....

  • @lronPriest0fMetal am i the only person that thinks that if you're to post a vid on youtube you may as well post a vid yourself playing it correctly?

  • @llethaface11 I mean, its fair to say that if it was him botching it as a joke or something; however, it is quite clear that this pianist has put A LOT of effort into this piece. This effort deserves to be praised on by the youtube community, not criticized by pretentious (it's youtube, not a college application essay. Words like erroneous really aren't required.) youtubers. Give the guy credit for working so hard on the piece. He's not a professional pianist.... and you're not a critic.

  • @lronPriest0fMetal pretentious really isn't required coulda just said fake

    no im kidding, respect.

  • @llethaface11 Pretentious doesn't mean fake. And you hardly seem to be kidding.

I don't like to see people like you attack musicians such as this.

  • @lronPriest0fMetal lol damn man seriously i was kidding. im outties.

  • fuckin twlight, ruined this for me

  • a few little mistakes mate but well done tho ill be uploading my version soon check it out

  • by definition a song has lyrics, this is a 'piece' of music

  • what twighlight used this song??? its still a beautiful song

  • nice done

  • You, sir, are amazing. <3

  • Twilight didn't exactly ruin the piece. They play it just the same in the movie, so it's not ruined.

  • Absolutely gorgeous! This is my favorite piece of music on the planet and have loved it since I was a child. You did an amazing job interpreting its sublime beauty!

  • I first heard of this song from 'Ocean's 11' about a decade ago and have loved it ever since. Great job!

  • @marvelfett2 The first time I hear claire de lune was when I watch 7 years in tibet. ^.^ It was the music from the music box, just a different version of it.

  • beautiful..

  • This is my favorite performance of Clair de Lune on Youtube.

  • how did you play it so fast....

  • Played in the Movie "Frankie & Johnny" !

  • Well played! this is a truly lovely piece :)

  • Beautiful!!

  • Perfect intro! Great speed!!

  • wow, it's just amazing... i now it since Twilight... yeah, it's true =)

and since then it is my favorite classical!! it's such a beautiful, harmonic song! and with so many emotions!

  • i love this song,much!!!!

could listen it for 100 times and i still lovin it!!!

  • Brilliant :)

  • Dude, it's epical.

  • sooooo beautiful!

  • great song!

  • did anyone else notice that he has no sheet music while playing this? truly impressive.

  • the static noise ruined it.

  • Its a shame that Twilight ruined this masterpiece.

  • @ger111 there is no form of media known to man that can ruin a true work of art, if twilight is all people can associate with this piece its their own fault, don't let it ruin the song in your thoughts and depiction of the song

  • @xalexander no, i am not bothered at all by twilight. couldn't give a damn about it.

  • course not! doofus

  • @ger111 Why should it matter where or how someone hears this piece? As long as they hear it that's all that should matter.

  • Comment removed

  • @violentred8149 you couldn't possibly be more wrong. with your flawed logic, you are absolutely ok if this song was remixed to a rap album by 50 cent. "as long as people can hear it" right? the way songs are used can greatly affect its impact to the listener. right now, this masterpiece is sadly refered to as "that song from twilight"

  • @ger111 I don't like twilight, but I still like this song.

  • @ger111 Be sure my friend that a random movie (=because Twilight is one) cannot ruin a piece like this. After all, just think : after a few years who will remember Twilight? Bergamasque is a piece of music history, not garbage. So, don't worry :)

  • @ger111 Twilight didn't ruin anything, it just introduced so many more people to a beautiful work of art. Instead of focusing on Twilight, listen to the beautiful work of art.

  • @tamararice Thank you! I'm so sick of this "Twilight sucks" crap. Just shutup and enjoy the song. Sheesh.

  • @tamararice I agree that it didn't ruin the piece but some people are upset because they found this piece just for the sake of beauty while there are others who found it watching Twilight and the only reason they like the piece is because of Twilight.
