  • I love how distant the drums sound on this track

  • George Harrison contributes a memorable guitar solo. It wasn't the first time Harrison and Clapton had collaborated and it would not be the last. TY

  • @TheFasteddie16 was that harrison playing?

  • @thefaketahare no, the contribution was the bridge, which was similiar to the bridge in 'Here Comes The Sun', and they were together when both were writing each.

  • oh grandma lucyliam1 ...i am the same age as you and am sure you are as lovely now as them........

  • SOOOO DOPE

  • yea, i grew up during all the madness.all the killing's of white police officer's,all the drug's,no sense of belonging,i lost my Brother in viet nam in 1968 of Oct.so yea, i remember what it was like growing up,,,yea, i remember. the people were great, the music was great, the drugs were great, you could almost trust that you were getting what you had paid for.

  • The story i heard from an interview with the band was they were writing this song when the Beatles visited them and there is a line in here from Ringo, "told you bout a kid now he is married to Mable" that ended up in the song. One of my favorite rock songs ever. This group's work plus Derrick and the Dominoes is why Clapton is God.

  • @todzzgod1 Actually Ringo said he said something "about the swans that they live in the park." That was the line he came up with.

  • Born in 67, own a 68 Fury, and crank this in my 96 Sebring convertible. The point is this is a timeless classic. My two young children steal my albums. Yes albums, I made sure they have turntables so they can crank the classics.

  • why do you have a picture of all the greatest bands ever on your vid?

  • Good volume !!!!! Figure out how to add video!!!

  • 1:07 eargasm!

  • Thanks a classic.....brings back happy memories

  • I was 14 in 1968, playing in a band and living completely in the moment. My first concert was Led Zeppelin, first tour. I had the most beautiful girlfriend and not a care in the world. It was such a magical time. So much creativity happening everywhere and so many amazingly talented musicians. We were all so together in our feelings of being able to change the world with peace and kindness.

  • @zippyfred

I remember it well and lppking back it was all just an illusion.

Great music and bands I agree.

    florianska6

  • 2Cliix

you like some good classic rock like me

  • Feat. L'Angelo Misterioso.

  • Any interest in up and coming guitarists?

Check out the impact Clapton had on one up and coming musician from Boston,

    click the link below.

  • This is my favourite Cream song. Something so catchy and original about it. It's also really spare and streamlined, doesn't repeat itself, has a great guitar solo. Can't go wrong with Clapton on vocals either.

  • daniel brou was here (in spirit)

  • "she cried away her life since she fell off the cradle." This sounds like my ex-girl

  • nice image man, makes me wanna listen to all them!!!

  • Great song, nice collection of bands.

  • 1968; 383 Plymouth Roadrunner (Badge) 8 track machine playing "Goodbye Cream"; girlfriend sittin' on the 727 TorqueFlite console kissing my ear as we idle thru the Burger King lot looking for friends on a Friday nite; no worrys except for Vietnam and the draft ! Those were the days! Thanx 2Cilix for the memories!

  • The music is superb. I was about 15 when this album came out. My buddies and girlfriend tried to figure out what "badge" meant - never could.

  • "You better pick yourself off from the ground

before they pull the curtain down"

I play that in my mind at work everyday.

  • Boston is pretty good..

  • Comment removed

  • My fav cream song

  • How can you mention Boston when listening to Eric Clapton and George Harrison. Ouch!! That hurts.

  • @1280ardd I disagree. Boston was a different kind of genius. More processed, less "live", yes. But let's face it, these were all pop bands. The Beatles were pop, Cream was pop with a blues influence. Boston was another great pop/rock band.

  • 1:08 still gives me chills

  • I remember them all, this was my era when it was all happening, can you imagine being 15 in the 60s man it was fantastic, now i am a grandmother in 200s but i still listen to these sounds.

  • @lucyliam1 You are so lucky! I'm 35 & wish that I was 15 in the '60's.The mid '80's-the mid '90's were gr8 but the mid-late '60's ruled.Oh god,I don't even know where 2 begin but the 1 thing you had was a counter-culture.I experienced some of that but not like you. What is so strange 2day is how it seems there is no counter-culture.I revisited a place in Atlanta I lived called L5P& all the music & diversity is gone.

  • @lucyliam1 your so lucky...back in the day if you got pulled over with pot in the car a cop would say "oh you kids...get home soon"....nowadays a cop would say "get out of the car with your hands where i can see em"....what happened to spreading the love?

  • Anybody remember Good and Bad at Games?

  • @lucyliam1 you lucky mare

  • @lucyliam1 ..i concur...i knew it then as i know it now, it never got any better than cream...

  • Wikipedia claims Harrison said he didn't play on this recording.

  • I can assure you he did. Harrison was good friends with my sister and I asked him if he played on this which he confirmed he did. That was back in 1989. Dhanni is also best friends with my nephew. You cant alaways believe what Wikipedia says.

  • WOW

  • pef286 is a fag ... im cool in my scumbag wanna be corvette... im going to get in my aston martin and 9/11 sux

  • the who is missing

  • which band is the cross with the dot in the middle and the curved line representing?

  • @MrToadvenom Blue Öyster Cult

  • @MrToadvenom Blue Oyster Cult.

  • @MrToadvenom I don't know yet, but it looks like a upside down question mark to me. I don't have even the slightest idea who that is.

  • @RateDTD its blue oyster cult

  • Did Clapton sing this one??

  • any one else notice pink floyd is in that picture twice

  • @theclassicrock69 and they should be =)

  • @theclassicrock69 Yes and Cream is missing

  • @theclassicrock69 They deserve to be in it 3 times

  • BLUES?

  • check out wikipedia...seems feasible..especially if GH said he didnt play the riff...was it Ringo?..seriously it doesnt sound like Clapton....

  • This would defo be one of my Desert Island Disks. What a tune!

  • 1961 here

  • @RedRon118 1969

  • god i wish this song waz longer

  • @asd45u Click on 'Replay'

  • Hey, douchebag...where are the Beatles in your collage? I do hope that you know George Harrison plays lead guitar on this song..just asking..

  • @jasonc0218 He sure didn't. Harrison plays the arpeggiated bridge, not the solo.

  • why is shitty music like kiss on the picture? dont mix the 80s and 60s music cause they are 2 totally different things

  • @LittleFoote420 They're actually very similar.

  • @LittleFoote420 KISS is from the '70's.

  • every one seems to forget when george wrote while my guitar gently weeps he picked eric to play the solo

  • Ginger Baker had a unique style of drumming and I just love it .

  • the solo is right out of George Harrison's arsonal.

  • @scottslaught No, no no. This solo is pure Clapton. The backing guitar part is pure Harrison.

  • Every one ought to have an anthem...this one found me.

  • I was 17 when this was out and dating a 19 year old girl who left to join the Israeli Army.

The following year I was in the Rocket Belt south of Danang with the Seventh Marines. These guys had an incredible influence on my generation. Thank God we still have their music.

  • @ellynlvx777 You are 100 per cent correct .

  • May I recommend 'A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene 1965 to 1969' by the invisible man. The author adores this track.

  • Cream: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker Ft/George Harrison. They had a good thing going, huh?

  • @Dethrider6 Almost like an alternative Beatles. :-)

  • i couldn't agree with you more..THANKS..

  • i really like to hear classic rock, so maby its embarrassing but i have to ask ^^ :

wtf is that between led zeppelin and acdc on the picture above / video ? >.<

  • @bambule119 I've seen that somewhere, i can't remember though

  • @bambule119 Blue Öyster Cult

  • @bambule119 I think it is the symbol Blue Oyster Cult used in their early days.

  • i wonder if CLAPTON was hitting on GEORGE HARRISON'S wife when they co-wrote this tune?

  • @801liveable Harrison was cheating on Patti. See the line in Layla: "I tried to give you consolation when your old man had let you down".

  • @DavePerry2012 i never considered that...but "let you down" could have several connotations..several meanings..but you could be right..

  • @801liveable Well, I've read about it in a Beatles biography. George and Patti were drifting apart pretty quickly by the late '60's. supposedly George was messing around with Ring's wife Maureen.

  • @DavePerry2012 you can't be serious. can you?

  • @801liveable That's what it said in the Beatles bio called Shout!. I'm pretty sure at least that George was being unfaithful, it wasn't a case of Clapton stealing her, which is probably a big part of why George and Eric remained good friends afterwards.

  • All the band logos pictured here are "badges" of a sort. Or is that just a coincidence?

  • I told ya bout the schwanse that they live in the park

  • My mums favourite song, I like the song too now, and I love the part from 1:38 onwards. I also love George Harrison, no homo! :)

  • Nice memories of when I was a teen when I listen to this song... chilling with friends, drinking a few beers and just being young.

I was a teen over 20 years after this song was released too.

Some music is just timeless, and always will be.

Next stop on my you tube listening list, Hendrix - 1983... a merman I should turn to be

  • used to speed skate to this in big bear lake in 69' - love this song -

  • what is the name of the picture

  • i remember this old song

  • listen to the bridge starting at 1:08; this is the riff that Boston lifted to compose their biggest hit "More than a Feeling". Pretty cool!

  • Comment removed

  • @laser325 Not really, I'd say that it sounds like More Than a Feeling. I think you've read Wikipedia too much and want to show off your knowledge.

  • George Harrison wrote this!

  • @HardDaysNight44 yeah with Eric Clapton:))

  • this is how music should be written. class.

  • While Harrison does play on this, it's on rhythm guitar only. That little beatles-esque riff is actually Clapton

  • @BatteryRock ...and it is beautiful.

  • i remember this from 1st grade ! yes 1st grade ! 1968 , thank god i was born in 1962 !

    Clapton sooooo rocks ..

  • @alagogo lucky, i was born in '94 :(

  • @alagogo

I was in forth! Cream does rise to the top. Now I have to go and drive my '65 Corvair convertible. '60 were the best (music) and worst (Vietnam war) of times.

  • @alagogo i remeber this when i was a freshman in high school...i remember all of it..when it all started here in AMERICA, in 1963..I WAS BORN IN 1954.and i'm older than you..

  • @801liveable we grew up with the best music .

  • @alagogo YOU BET, FRIEND!

  • I should have kicked the bitch out of my car when I had the chance.

  • i was born in the wrong era...

  • I dedicate this song to the love of my lifetime, but soon to be ex-wife, Debra Angelique. "She cried away her life sense she fell out the craddle!"

  • Felix Pappalardi is on this? No way! Can anyone elaborate as to the story behind that?

  • @doorswhofan He was their producer and he plays piano on this. He has also performed in other Cream songs as well.

  • @doorswhofan are you sure never heard that

  • Harrison's riff right before the solo break is terrific as is the songwriting. One note, Felix Papilardi on the mellotron during the last verse.

  • @splicernyc who plays piano jack bruce

  • ERIC & GEORGE THE BEST EVER .....FAK DA REST !!!!

  • one person press negative when he likes press positive... no problem :s

  • why is this song awesome? jack bruce ... the bass line is the best ever...

but george definitely helps make it awesome, with his lesley counterpoint to clapton's white hot lead ....

    ginger who?

  • HARRISON IS AWESOME IN THIS JAM .... IT WILL ROCK 4 EVER !!!!

  • i love how cream isn't even on that picture

  • This old song sounds pretty good compared to today's junk. Actually, I think it sounds outstanding!

  • @atomicpunk48 There are a lot of great musicians out there now, but the music that one hears widely disseminated by the corporotocracy is pure dreck

  • @zalman595 Thanks for the comment. I absolutely agree with you.

  • undeniably harrison

  • I think its unfair to say Hendrix was the best guitarist. He wasnt any better than Clapton or Blackmore. Theres no way to compare Guitarists as many of them have their own unique styles. Can anyone imagine Hendrix playing like Mark Knopfler or Alvin Lee? I cant. I like Hendrix but maybe its possible that he might be considered the greatest because he died young unlike Clapton and Beck, among others.

  • @tommat0 Tout ce que tu as écrit est juste.

Le rest n'est que de la médiatisation

  • @tommat0 You're absolutely right. I like so many of them because they all had styles of their own, which made them stand apart. But Jimi could play.........

  • yes and i told you that the light goes up and down

dont you notice how the wheel goes round

and youd better pick yourself up from the ground

before they bring the curtain down

yes before they bring the curtain down

  • Tit for tat. Clapton on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, George on Badge.

  • @Guy4755 AWESOME OBSERVATION!!!

  • Funny, I don't see the name Cream in your H.S. wall of bands!

  • I get faraway eyes when I hear this song.

  • a lot of feeling in that guitar solo there. love it

  • Fucking beautiful

  • why is this song awesome??? GEORGEHARRISON!

  • @harveydents you're confused!!!!

  • @harveydents forgetting the bass player, the drummer and the lead guitar...How could you!?

  • @harveydents Clapton had a hand in it too.

  • that guitar solo always makes me feel on top of the world no matter how bad my day is going

  • This is the best song by Cream.I first heard it at 16(20yrs.ago)&it just struck me.I listened to it over&over. My roomate was a DJ at The Dungeon(in TheQuarter-N.O.) so I had access to a lot of music. While I discovered some really cool bands(MC5,IGGY,WHO)&great stories(the back of albums gave quick bios+gr8 art),Badge was special.

  • Which album is this from?

  • @Thebluesrockmusic try Cream of Clapton

  • @Thebluesrockmusic CReams "goodbye album

  • L'angelo misterioso on guitar: George Harrison. Monster song....

  • It's a shame that The Band wasn't featured in the image, considering how important they were to George and Eric at the time.

  • Nice montage photo, but oddly doesn't contain the band in question

  • @deusdiabolus The uploader uses this pic on all his (rather excellent) uploads. The curious thing is that Pink Floyd are pictured twice. Yay for the Floyd!

  • What I get from this song is that the guy is visiting his significant other in the graveyard, where she's been for some time. While he's there does the things one does in that situation: points out some nearby swans, mentions that their son recently got married, expresses remorse about getting her into a lifestyle he survived and she didn't.

  • Definitely sounds like Harrison

  • This is my absolute favorite Cream song

  • RIP GEORGE HARRISON !! BADASS SONG

  • brings back memories of my first girlfriend for some strange reason

  • just doesn't get much better than this, classic for me

  • eric clapton is the best singer /guitarist of the past 40 years.

  • @hargohargo2 Not combined, but you could say that he is the 2nd best guitarist who sang lead. Infact he's the 2nd best guitarist overall, so that's not very strange :D

(Yes - Hendrix is 1st, in both categories)

  • @CentraCross If Hendrix were alive today, he'd be the FIRST one to tell you that he couldn't sing at all! He never wanted to sing because of that, but nobody else in the band would, so he did it.

  • @RedVynil Sure but the important thing is that he DID sing. And he's the greatest guitarist overall, so he is obviously the greatest guitarist who was also a lead singer. Which means Clapton wasn't. If Jimi hadn't sang, Clapton would be the Greatest guitarist who sang lead.

Some could say that Beck, Blackmore, Page and even Van Halen were greater guitarists than Clapton, but none of them sang lead, so the wouldn't be considered anyway.

  • @CentraCross Not to put down or take away from Jimi, he WAS great!! But, Frank Zappa, Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew are better guitarists and, okay, Fripp doesn't sing, but the others do.

  • This song is soooooo UNDERRATED !!!! Definately a CLASSIC!!!!

  • I have listened to my mom listen 2 this for my entire life.... GENIUS!!!

  • i dont see steve vai up there =[

  • Great Song. This reminds of WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS, for which legend claims that Clapton played the guitar part. On BADGE, the keyboard is played by Felix Pappalardi, who was the producer of Cream and the founder, leader, bassist and producer of Mountain. I just got done listening to a Mountain album. Pappalardi also wrote several of Cream's songs. It's easy to hear the similarities. So, the musicians on BADGE are Clapton, Bruce, Baker, Harrison, and Papparlardi. Not a bad band, ya know.

  • I love this song! The bassline is awesome.

  • @pkapkapka YES!! One of my favs of ALL time..that & Phil Lynott's octaves on "got to give it up"..cool moments in 4 string rock history!! Props..

  • 0 people dislike this tune because its amazing
