lol our school has iMacs for the computer labs and all students (6th, 7th, 8th grade, high school) have their own macs.

and at my school, we get to keep them. we buy them ourselves.

most 6th graders have the Mac Pros... there's a couple of Mac Airs....

8th graders get the regular white ones T__T ahaha

my school gave out macbooks to the 6th graders and to the 7th and 8th (which i am in) get the old ibooks when we need more power... i just need to say though that i am not a fan of apple i am a fan of linux but still it was a terrible idea to give them computers to break

Hah, I don't have any antivirus software installed, and I've had no problems. Every once in a while I'll go to so the Windows Live Safety site and run a virus scan, but it always comes back clean.

Windows XP SP2 is pretty secure. Now if owners of PCs that have earlier versions of XP would just go to Windows Update and get the latest version (for free), then maybe Windows could clear its name.

you would be right except that then the people using the laptops would have to run windows... it's easily worth the extra 25% just to be spared that experience, not to mention all the software you get stock with the macbooks and the general awesomeness of the hardware

Well, the hardware would be just as good or better as the MacBook. And all of the software equivalents are available for Windows, from Microsoft, for free. And besides, I don't see how GarageBand is necessary for a school-issued laptop.

And this may surprise you, but I dislike the Mac experience.
