I LOVE this scene. It makes me cry for Miette! And One... Whose under bug control, but still that has to hurt to hurt the one you protect... Aww!
Ron Perlman young... Damn! He was fine! XD You know what? Ron stated once that his most hated action was when his character, One, attacked Miette. He said it made him feel low, even though it was only acting... Thats passion, right there!
The vial of poison must be liquid evil. It doesn't just make people kill their friends, it makes them kill their friends in the most sadistic ways possible.
Stealing Children's Dreams; this is when the young lose their illusions. "Premature burial works just fine as a cure for adolescence." — George Alec Effinger. "All children have to be deceived if they are to grow up without trauma." — Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I had a dream of a room full of toys, while working the miserable Inn of catgut sausage and mice infection costs extra: the fatherless bastard child, of a bastard child, of a bastard child, three generations--Les Miserables.
Rumor has it that Ron Perlman hated this sceen and I can see why; I cannot imagine even acting like I was hurting a kid. In fact, he has kids of his own, which makes it worse. However, this is a good scene, I like how it ends.
Wish I could see the full movie, though. Seems rather... strange.
@Sing4ever9 I own the DVD and I can only say it's absolutely worth it. If you get the chance to buy it (or maybe you already have) do it. Describing this movie is hard. It's gritty, dark, macabre, disturbing, strange, yet it is one of the most beautiful movies ever made. Poetic is the only thing that comes to my mind to describe the whole thing and that's not even closely accurate.
He was controlled by the sisters, (bitten by a poisoned flea), and then plunging into the cold water made him come to and recognize her. Yes it sounds a bit odd but go and see the whole film, you will find everything is logical !
Ok i like Tim Burton's movies BUT it's the world of Jeunet & Caro i would like to live in, the world of Delicatessen and City of lost children

best movie ever made ... caro and juenet should do an entire series of films based in this world, both the characters and the visuals are perfect
