I saw this on an episode of Mayday. The terrorists demanded to be flown to Austrailia but there wasnt enough feul in the plane. The pilot had to crash land on the Indian Ocean. This was on some small islands between Africa and Madagascar.

This crash was true ...........it was a highjaked plane during their "odyssee" run of fuel and in the end the pilot tried to make a water landing.

Quite good BUT ........... when you touch the watersurface with a wing or a jet each plane will be cut in many pieces due the speed the plane still has.

@ThePilot314 yes its all true but in the first place when they run out of fuel the plane was diverting to the nearest sirpot but they think they won't make it so they decided to land on water whitch is not the best plane to land in water bescause the engines are on the wings so it will be a hard landing not like bombadiar CRJ700 their engies are near the elevator so they will make a smooth landing

I watched this show called mayday and the episode was on that crash and it wasnt a fuel issue ( it never is a fuel issue) it was two hijackers who told the pilots to crash into the water. thanks to the two pilots some passengers survived.

The plane ran out of fuel. A lot of of the instuments and controls would have failed. It would be like the engine of your car killing and you'd have to brake your arms to steer it to the side of the road. Also, it was gliding in. Not good for a Jumbo Jet ! Since the engines are lower than the wings, the first one to hit water would spin the plane which was coming in very fast. It was a flying brick with no controls. The pilot did as good a job as he could with a gun pointed to his head.

he didn't "turn it" , he tried to land it as smooth as he can, but the plane is a Boeing 737(or whatever), so the engines are on the bottom, acting like a big scoop, and so when the left engine touched down on the water, the force stopped the left side of the plane, causing the right side of the plane to turn. If I remember correctly, this plane was hijacked by two guys (possibly from S.Africa?) & demanded that the pilot fly to Australia. The pilots told them they didn't have enough fuel for the flight, but the hijackers thought otherwise, having read a brochure on the plane's ability to hold a certain amount of fuel... not knowing that planes are only fueled for enough to reach their actual destination. The pilot stalled for time by circling around & flying alongside land rather than head out to sea
