I can vouch, They talked about the ring from Tallahassee to Jacksonville and points north. Most of the day on Christmas Eve there was a mixture of Sleet and snow falling in the Pensacola area. It changed over to all snow before it ended. It never stuck to the ground though. Closest I remember seeing a white Christmas.
This is back in the days before the commercial weather channel obsessed with storm stories, abrahms and Bettes, it's a circus now. At least the Fearless Jim Cantore is still there, but i must say i do miss when the weather channel was strictly weather related, the cool music, the interesting graphics, i'd love to see them go back to classic weather channel.
or at least make weather channel two for all the shows so i can see the weather. wow Lehigh Valley International was still ABE airport!!
I can confirm we did get a dusting as predicted on Christmas Eve '93. I was probably watching this at the same exact time this was recorded.... on Channel 12 on Cablevision of New Jersey!

Forgive me for correcting you B but the LDL has always been a part of TWC... No STAR has been ever been in existance that didn't have an LDL from day one. However, STARs 3000, 4000, Jr and The XL (97-03) didn't display the LDL all the time... The control room only called for it maybe 5 to 10 minutes an hour during national.
Charles, I am talking about the forecast line on the 4000 LDL. I realize that all STARs had the LDL, but the 4000's forecast LDL (the yellow text and the icon) wasn't added until later on, right?
Oh - I guess I was the one needing correction...lol. I was at work when I read that - I didn't catch the word "forecast" in mishaboy's original comment. I just was reading all this as LDL. My bad!
This brings back great memories of the 1990s

Highs in the lower 30's on Christmas Day cold? In North Dakota, that would be considered a heat wave! :-)
nicklebackfan 2 years ago
That is slightly colder than average in the New York metro area.

I believe you, it's the Marine effect of being on the Atlantic coastline. Kind of why Anchorage is warmer than Fairbanks.

I guess the "Local on the 8s" wasn't around in 1993. Still, looks like they were actually reporting than what they do today...

Channel 12 didn't receive WS 4000 until December 1992.
And I for one miss Jim Cantore as an OCM... not relegated to a desk!!!!!

So that's what Allen Jackson was doing before he decided to add his voice to the Vocal Local feature on the WeatherStar XL and the IntelliStar.

He is a cancer survivor - that is what took him off air for a prolonged stint a while ago. I hope he isn't battling it again.

Dave is still on, but he works as a substitute during any day of the week, so you won't see him often. He recently returned from a vacation.

The LDL forecast on the 4000 wasn't introduced until the mid-to-late 1990s.

Lower Display Line. It's the text you see at the bottom of the screen that shows the current conditions.
