  • I bought this album in London in1965, and still have the vinyl. It still delights, and brings out Monk's amazing musical style. James P Johnson was probably looking down on Monk, and nodding approval.

  • Who needs words is right! I've always said words are the worst thing that ever happened to music. They let the musicians off the hook.

    I'm not a huge Monk myself, but this is one I could listen to every day.
