Wow! I ran my thumb through the table saw. I started to panic and I didn't know what to do. My daughter was freaking out and asked how she could help??

I was starting to spin and I remembered that on the old cowboy movies they always gave the guy a shot of whiskey. Since I don't drink much there was 2 beers from a previous get together in the refrigerator. I asked my daughter to hand me them and I drank 2 right down. I was able to calm down and not freak out. I made it to the ER just fine.

I am sorry to disagree, THIS IS NOT the way to remove the hook, you certainly damage inner tissues with the inverted spike in the inner side of the hook.

What must be done, is CUTTING the hook, open a small second hole near the location of the hook's tip and make it go around, this way you may have a 2nd hole and loose a hook, but no risk of losing finger mobility at long term.

this is the stupidest way i have ever seen a hook been removed, in the ER i am trained to push the othewr end of the hook through the skin cut off the barb of the hook, and then remove the same way it went in, just a tip of advice to anyone who gets a hook in their skin past the barb

@pursellfarms3086 hey, in this situation, it's the best way to remove is this, large hook, imbedded in the flesh to such a point that you can't turn it back out to cut the barb and they're likely not in a area with a proper ER, many a ER doctor has told me that when not in a good situation with a fish hook like this one, this is the best way, I'm a career fisherman and I have had hooks in my hands, this is how we had to do it when it impacts bone or it's in straight like this one.

Notice how he moved the barb up as far as he could and pushed the string down to the skin...... Than YANKED it out. Most people will try to pull it out at an angle. This works, my friend got one out of my shoulder this way years ago. I wanted to go to the hospital, he saved our three day fishing trip by doing this (thanks Big Pete). Little blood, lot's of pain and a little swelling. I drank Tequila like he did before he yanked it out.
