  • can i go back to android

  • @vyomsmart Yep, just press the 'Home' button on your phone, and open the app to access Ubuntu again. Or reboot to shut it down fully.

  • Please help. What should I do if I want to get an Android device, remove Android from it, and install a phone distro of Linux?

  • Can no longer install openssh and tightVNCserver….

Neither of these will install because the packages that its trying to download are no longer on the website. Its trying to fetch openssh-server_5.1 which isn’t even on their site anymore.

No matter what I do, I cant get past this point because it just keeps trying to fetch old files that no longer exist.

    /super frustrated….

Any idea on how I can get past this?

  • Fake... !!! He s using VNC..

  • @ranjanalva007 It is a VNC connected to a locally running X Server running through a chrooted Ubuntu partition.

I can assure you, its not fake. Stop being ignorant and Google it ;)

  • @GFPPgk007 Hi! I would like to get a phone specially to run Ubuntu. I've intended to replace the Android with Ubuntu. As for the phone, I'm looking at the Motorola Devour, due to budge constraint, do you think this is feasible enough? What are your thoughts? Will it work well enough, as I will be using it to access the internet to do cloud stuff. I'm totally new to this, please advise me. :)

  • @GFPPgk007 Ok but this Android isn't running directely Ubuntu ... And why use a X Server in order to run VNC ?

  • Can you run program like a music making program on it

  • @extremepickle Probably not, the phone would crash ;)

  • The application can run programs designed for ubutu? (Gimp, Office, etc.) that functioned on the LG GT540? (OC 825MHz & Android 2.3.5)

  • @Adek350 It can run anything that is in the Ubuntu repo for ARM processors (the kind Android phones use). If you could run them on another Android phone, you should be able to run it on here, as long as there is enough RAM and processor power available :).

  • There is no chroot location in the boot process. What do I do?

  • @1717swanny You can follow the instructions posted in the description, or Google for instructions, they are strewn across the whole internet ;)

  • @1717swanny That sometimes comes up if the phone isn't rooted properly... do you have "BusyBox" installed? Its basically a library of basic commands that most Linux setups come with (but Android doesn't).

  • So that did help, but now it says "can't execute 'bin/bash': no such file or directory." Any tips?

  • what version ubuntu?

  • @Adek350 It is 10.04 Server Edition :)

  • Yes, it has to be rooted to be able to mount the partition :).

  • Does your phone or tablet have to be rooted

  • @extremepickle he is using a terminal emulator... so i am assuming so.

  • @extremepickle yes
