Fantastic version. first time ive heard that one.. but Marc's working versions of his songs ,in particular The Motivator...are just awesome...Rock On Marc..........
@cosmic1dancer I know what you mean about the working version of The Motivator. It's really raw. It just sounds like the band playing it live in the studio.
Cheers Andy, opinions are just that, and after reading some of the earlier stuff on gloria, I just thought it needed a bit of balnce. Marc and T.rex made so much great stuff regardless of whether it was June or Gloria by his side. So keep a bit of marc in your heart. Im a bit of a traitor mind you, cos I loved slade as well, ha ha!
@montyjones50 Dandy is a brilliant album. While we may not agree on everything, I'm sure we're both Solid Gold T.Rex fans. Thanks for your comment and keep on enjoying the boogie.
Marc and T.Rex finished on top form with the Dandy in the underworld album, so Gloria never had any detremental effect on that. So I think its really unfair to blame her for the period when Marc lost his way. She also had a good effect on his lifestyle and I believe that Marc was in good shape and happy before his sad death. Also, as ninteresting as this version is, the original 45 remains my fav T. Rex single. Groover Mark.
@montyjones50 Thanks for your comment. Like you, I think Solid Gold Easy Action is my favourite T.Rex single. It was so far ahead of its time. I believe Gloria was good for Marc on a personal level and I love the Vixen album. Dandy was a real return to form. But my favourite tracks on that album don't feature Gloria. Much of Dandy was written in the studio as the band recorded the tracks. Marc was heading back to pure rock. Sadly we'll never know what he had in store.
Marc was a perfectionist in the studio according to Tony V., unfortunately he let Gloria Jones mess up his life. She might have been an OK person, but she was not good for his music, and I never like her singing. Notice she is not on this and how good it sounds?
@DAVWAVE I have to agree with you. Gloria was not a good addition to Marc's music. I would loved for Marc to have lived long enough to have a reunion with Tony V. and Flo & Eddie. What great music they made together.

Gloria made mark happy and put the smile back on his face. she never ruined the music. Dandy in the underworld is proof of that.

@andytrex ...Wow andyrex, what a great point. A reunion with "the all the guys" you know who they are :).
That would have happened for sure and what a pleasant thought.
DAVWAVE 9 months ago
@DAVWAVE I often wonder, could that reunion have happened at Live Aid in 1985. Now THAT would have been a blast!!

I really love the sound of Bolan's rootsy, raw guitar chugga chugga riffs on these demos, great work on the video too. Stroll On

I love the way Marc ad libs...some times its pants..but more than likely the odd classic line spouts forth!.....Viva la Bolan

@rexlist I know what you mean and sometimes an ab-libbed lyric ends up on a final studio recording. He truly was the Weilder of Words.

Totally Classic Marc - even these flawed and raw cuts have a magic that can nowhere be seen in the majority of recording artists today or then
