Beautiful dance i love this kind the videos thanks for share on you tube, is amazing the native all : dances, clothes, and the way of life loving the enviroment.
@ayobaileynicole: the posted name of the video is Apache Crown Dancer. A Crown Dancer, known as a ga'an, is a member of an Apache society that does dances for ceremonial reasons. They are representing Mountain Spirits. Definitely not a Chicken Dancer. Prairie Chicken Dancing originated with the Northern tribes, but has become a popular powwow dance. Traditionally, Chicken Dancers are initiated to the style.
I spoke with a friend of his recently. I had wondered what had inflicted the wounds that killed him. The friend told me that he had stabbed himself with a knife. I don't know if that is true or not.
@nachise51 More then likely because he is Apache , I don't know the guy but I know a guy from down my way that is a Lumbee Native American thats a Chicken Dancer . I am not sure where the dance came from but any one of us ( Native Americans) can do them .
Before non - natives post videos on indigenous native North Americans can they get their facts right please. This dancers regalia is not Apache in origin and neither is the dance style. He is a chicken dancer. Will real natives take care when posting videos on youtube because no matter how hard you try to educate the viewer the reality will be fantasised into what is acceptable and not factual. Excellent dancer by the way and stunning regalia.
Love the dancing. It is awesome! I think that this is the best dance that human eyes have ever seen! Keep it up! Thank you for posting and sharing with the community!
No no no no... this isn't a Apache Dancer... this is from the Blackfeet tribe of Montana, USA... who were at the Smithsonian Museum exhibiting at the same time as the Chiricahua Apache Dancers under the leadership of James Kunestsis.
wow!!!!!!! i'm from Mexico city. i love this kind of native american dance. id like to see this alive but i cant go there. sorry if my english is not goog. love and respect that music u guys. we have the prehispanic dancers too like aztecs, mayans etc. i hope someday you can see our native dances and music, also is beautiful.
One of the earliest postings said that his name is Clinton Croff. In the September issue of the CUJ from the Umatilla Tribe there was an artical stating that Clinton Croff died at Glacier National Park. It said that he died of multiple wounds of I guess unknown origins. I may have mispoke in saing that he was killed instead of that he died. It said that no charges had been filed.
This has got to be the coolest dance I have ever seen!!!!! I LOVE IT!!! I've already watched it like 5 times in a row, going to watch it so much more! Thanks for posting!
ça à rien a voir avec des danse apache il en faudrait des vrais ki le montre c tellement plus jolie et ça parle bien pluss ke ça là sur la vidéo , j'ai jamais vu un seul indien danser ainsi -_- c'est triste pour eux
Hmm...I have seen some Chiricahua(sp?) dancing, and it is very similar to this...so i'm not sure whether to believe it's just chicken dancing and/or Apache dancing style...hmmm...
Look at that chicken get down! To the poster, in respect of the ones who've posted comments, CHANGE THE NAME TO CHICKEN DANCE DUDE! This is how "natives" get down, not "indians."
Nice stuff, this. Very useful for me, since I'm doing an art project involving a sort of indigenous trance-dance. My research eventually led me to this, which is awesome. But mine will probably be alot simpler, like some basic steps, and arm movements, and leg-slides, and suchlike,
Wow..I can Imagine the martial arts they had back in the day! The dance is so alive similar to all people of color footwork...our battle skills too must of been amazing.
FightForChangeNow - white people watching think - thats some awesome dancing. world history is filled with empires expanding in waves. even central american civilizations expanded and made war on weaker neighbors. there was a power vaccum 500 years ago and some white people exploited it. its hard to imagine theworld 500 years ago. im sure it was a fkd up place. the world has so many problems and genocides now and no solutions.
absolutely beautiful...kinda sad tho that this Expressionism of thier spirit and beliefs thru dance is now done as entertainment for us. My great great grandmother was full blood cherokee. My great great grandfather refused to call her by her indian name and renamed her Sarah. I am proud to say I have a small amt of indian in me. May their spirits dance forever.
One day We will realise not only is their only One God their is also only One family of humanity. This does not justify the suffering or atrocities of the past, nor does is justify maintaining that violence in our own thoughts and reactions. It is what it is...and We have the power You and me everywhere to choose Spiritual hygiene in our every thought and aware moment. May the Creator bless our focus and attention with Self Love, Care and Awareness. Aho!
Beautiful dance, This is amazing, I'm Mexican, and I really like all the things about our ancestors, I mean all of us have a little o a big portion of Native, So is interesting learn how the lived and do in these times
I wonder if any of the white people watching are thinking about if there great great grandparents took part in the genocide of a good people. Now we tell mexicans they are illegal aliens and not welcome HA! With that mindeset us whites should go back to europe, mexicans are just as american as we are. Peace
