  • I love "Capital I", it makes me so happy!

  • Wow the Drugs were so Much better Back then...lol

  • Love this! Is this from the same Steve Zukerman who became a famous TV director? He did Empty Nest and some other series too?

  • maybe a bit of pearl jam from these two great old clips, im,m 46 and this takes me way back, sad but very happy!! thanks so much for trip down memory lane.

  • This goes out to the ONES WHO ACTUALLY WERE CHILDREN IN THE 70'S..................

    WE ARE.

  • THUMBS UP IF U CAME HERE FROM FLVS Xdddd

  • Knew of the Capital I song, never even heard of the Lowercase N song - by the way, sung by the same group.

  • ...WOAH!!, I am totally Blow Away!!!, "Lower Case n",I Forgot had existed, This is Great Probally not since the age of 7 or 8 i havent seen or heard this !!. To this day, especially if I'm doing somthing I always sing "capital I ",it;s a Great tune, it ranks along the classics, even "seven bridges road",.,

  • I have sung the "lowercase n" song all my life and now i can show my kids! Thanks so much for posting!

  • how is this haunting.

  • I remember both of these from my childhood, but I never put together that they were done by the same artist. Of course, I'll probably think of these the next time I stay at an Inn...

  • thanx 4 tha upload. this video has the best moments of sesame street but i wish you had made seperate videos

  • Kurt Cobain definitely listened to this stuff growing up. Nirvana's records reek of the influence.

  • @jannyrcobs I can definitely hear some intervals and phrasing in "Lower Case n" that remind me of Nirvana.

  • CAPITAL I

  • Even as a pre-schooler in the 1970's, the folk music was noticible in these Seasme Street shorts. Definitley felt like John Denver.

  • I wonder what they do behind closed doors in the capital I?

  • Oh, how wonderful it was to be a child back then!

  • These are great! I don't remember the "Capital I," but the 'Lower case n' is VERY familiar... ;-) Thanks for posting!!

  • thank you so much for posting this!

  • Capital I has such a lovely, Haight-Ashbury sort of feel to it.

  • ...whereas Lower Case N, even though it's an almost identical tune, is much more British Invasion. Goes to show how important nuance is.

  • I would pay for a whole album of this.

  • I LOVE these songs. Where can I find commercial songs and artists in this same subgenre?

  • ive been lookin out for this since... ah, I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH MY FRIEND.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU. THE MEMORY FLASHES BACK LIKE CRAZY.

  • Extremely cool. Those were the days. Check out Red Ball Rollercoaster from the same era.

  • it is so cool to see these. This my Sesame Street! says the 43 year old

  • Happyworldas1,

Thanks for posting the info on the composer of these 2 songs (Capital I and Lowercase N). Those are 2 of my all-time fave Sesame street songs. They are truly wonderfully composed songs! And, yes I actually WAS looking to see if the tabs for either one were on ultimate guitar.

    Thanks again!

  • @DontCallMeChrissy - you need to use guitar-pro to view and LISTEN (which really helps) to the tab and sheet music, but it's a fun and useful little program to have if you don't already have it.

    Enjoy

  • @happyworldas1

jeez young woman. give it up. we don't need to hear your nonsense.

  • I still love the lowercase n song after all these years. I think it taught me something about how to use guitars to conjure emotion and mood changes. Classic stuff!

  • I wish both of these were full-length 3-4 minute songs.

  • We prefer "Capital I".

  • There is nothing like Sesame Street Old School. The 70's rocked. It's sad that the generations of today don't get the quality of programming like we did in our generation.

  • @firestepher72 I totally agree with what you say! Now kids programs are all about product placements and laced with adult/ teen drivel!!!!

  • OMG I sing Letter I all the time. And I agree I am haunted. I'm into metal now., but I think this started it. This reminds of Lez Zeppelin so much.

  • Lower case n still makes me cry! Dang it!

  • I know the song is supposed to be an innocuous song for children but has anyone besides me recognised the Illuminati suggestions. Capital Eye. Always some subordinate to attend to it.

  • I always found it interesting that Sesame Street added an emotional connection to their songs about letters... and the songs still make me tingle with nostalgia after all these years!!

  • 2 of my favourite songs .. brings tears to remember these good old days....

  • I loved these song!!!! S. Street rocked when I was a kid.

  • So glad this is on here the capital I song has stayed with me since I was 5 now 20 years later it's on YouTube

  • These 2 were my very favorites. Nice double feature.

  • I've seen the new S. Street animations and they really suck compaired to this, which is what I remember watching as a little boy. You can tell they really put some time, thought and talent into these old animations. Thanks for posting

  • The second clip reminds me of The Last Unicorn's opening. Love it.

  • When I see these, it stirs something in me, something like a flash back of the soul. I'm 38 years old and this instantly transports me to the simplest and best times.

  • @chancafer I get that same feeling...its like , I don't remember this clip per say, but I can feel what it was like to hear these songs when I was a kid.

  • cute.

  • It is sad how the networks refuse to make quality children's progamming anymore. Kid's shows today are unfortunately focussed on sex, violence, and new age BS that is warping the minds of children. When I grew up I had Sesame Street, Captain Kangaroo, The Friendly Giant, The Polka Dot Door, Rompa Room, and Size Small. These were quality shows that educated me as a kid in a pure, clean, format that just does not exist anymore.

  • @videocircus could'nt agree with you more! nowadays sucks

  • @videocircus unfortunately things will worsen thats why we miss the good old days!

  • @videocircus hehehe..don't forget Mr. Rogers, The Magic Garden, The Electric Company, 321 Contact, and if you're from Northeast PA..Hatchie Malatchie with Miss Judy. :) Then there was Square ONE television and Today's Special.

  • @moredredd transpose one step down; C# B F# Ebm C#

  • I LOVE SESAME STREET!!!

  • I'd like to know where you found this without logos... is it like this on the Old School DVD?

  • wow

  • ah i feel like a 3 year old again lol

  • Freakin AWESOME!...

  • I not only remembered these songs but could still picture The giant Capital I and the little guys scrubbing it. Hey riproren I have been playing Capital I as well. Only 4 chords, D, C, G, Em and the D shape up higher while finger picking. How do you play it?

  • i just spent two hours picking out Capitol I on guitar...this song is awesome. the vocal harmonies speak to the genius that wrote it... i am 38, and this song is embedded in my childhood memories forever. Thank you for posting this.

  • @riproren001 hey I am trying to pick it out myself. What chords is it? I couldn't find a tab anywhere. I ended up putting a capo on 5 and playing A/G/D... it's the closest I could get but it still doesn't sound right.

  • @riproren001 Funny, I just posted, then read your post. It ain't just me then, this is part of who we are. VIVA SESAME STREET!!!!!

  • Oh No? ... Oh Yes!

    2 of my favs!

    I'm 35 y/o

  • AWW! man! I love this song. I always loved to see this on the show. I always wanted to know who this was. Thanks for the post

  • When I was little, I remember watching this and wishing that I lived in a capital I. lol I love the way this makes me feel like I'm 4 again. Thanks for posting!

  • The wind is very still...

  • This was such a rush of memories for me! You don't see children's programming like this that uses music like this either. There is something beautiful and yet sad in the melodies, it made you stop and think!

    Thanks for posting these! "I&n"

  • In case you all were wondering the letter I was used in this song 32 times ( 11 that were capital)...

  • I've had the Capital I song stuck in my head for over a month! I can't believe that I found it after just one search. This was my Sesame Street. Thanks for putting it up.

  • Outstanding, capital "I" stands for senseless consumption. Sesame street really did teach us how to spell.

  • OH NO!

    FLASHBACK!

  • I think it sounds like Time in a Bottle.

  • they were sooo stoned when they wrote this thats why old skool Sesame street is funny.

  • and so much better

  • It's so amazing to see this so many years later, and it still mesmerizes me. I always thought how weird it was these three little guys who lived in the capital "I" and lived to keep it clean. Love the song. Sesame Street still rocks!

  • Rubbing it here, Scrubing it there... polishing the EYE so high in the air..... lol

  • Let's go stay at "The Capital I" Resort .

  • This sounds like Grand Funk Railroad

  • Ok so *this* is the Sesame Street I remember from when I was at home from school with a cold, loopy from cough syrup. I love these songs and all the great, simple animation from Sesame Street in the 70s. My grandsob loves Elmo, and nothing against Kevin Clash, but when I grew up on this I can't watch Sesame Street now. More of this!

  • Can't agree with you more.

  • @katrina2323 I don't know how young I was able to watch this... but the song really stuck to me! :) I just found myself humming 'Capital i' when I was much older, haha. oh, and there's C is for Cookie, Haha! :P I know the feeling, I can't appreciate the Sesame Street nowadays because the older version has stuck. I think it has a lot to do with the music. ;D

  • @katrina2323 :) loopy from cough syrup ha! I miss this sesame street...

  • i been looking 4 this long time

  • We rented the Sesame Street Dvd, and I basically ignored it until THIS song "Capital I in the Sky" and I was mesmerized! I remember it so much. I am 45 now!!!

  • those two songs are magical and beautiful, it takes you away to a simpler place in time, this was a big part of my childhood...thank you for posting and sharing

  • Sorry DrDudetube, I meant to give the thumbs up but I got distracted!!!

  • Fantastic songs!

  • Oh wow, I'd forgotten about both of those until I watched them just now! Classic Seasame Street had such great stuff! The current show is unwatchable now, sadly.

  • So cool. Both great tunes. Yet the same.

  • Nice try. Keep it up check out esteembpo + com for social media marketing. gkjnhj

  • ELMO=JAR JAR BINKS!

  • equally annoying !!

  • @hippojuice23

Oh come on, Elmo's not THAT bad!

  • is he,... IS HE??

  • As soon as I saw this it brought back so many memories. I absolutely love the harmonies in Capital I, and thanks for posting about how the song was recorded. I had no idea it was just one guy!

  • how absolutely brilliant is Capital I :-) i LOVE it. i don't remember Lower case n, but it's class too. thats when kids entertainment was KIDS entertainment. all innocent and sweet :-)

kids tv has got kinda crass.

  • I believe there is a way..........dvdsoftinc.

  • i love these songs!

  • Trippy, man!

  • wow...back in the day when SS was cool!

  • Wat a wicked tune!

  • i am a fan of any sesame street before they brought all that gay colorful shit about elmo's world and all that willy nilly

  • I remember "capital I " vaguely but I mostly remember the" lowwer case n" song. Its one of those songs that just touches your soul.

  • a long time ago in halifax i saw a band called Kearney Lake Road make "capital i" sound like it belonged on an early sabbath album. later they became Sloan, and nothing they've done since sounded as good as that. it helps that they were covering an awesome tune from an awesome show...

  • I have been thinking about these two songs. since forever!!! They are both my all time favorites from Sesame Street, I remember tuning in to the show just to see if they would be played that day.LOL

  • Yeah, the capital I one haunted me into adulthood until I found it here on Youtube. I at some point discovered it was adapted from a 60's tune but don't remember the title/artist.

  • Wow!!! I was in my office a couple of days ago and we got into a conversation about sesame street, electric co., Mr. Rogers and other PBS kid shows. I remembered the Capital I song. That was my favorite song. I thought, "This might be on youtube." Sure 'nuff, here it is. Thanks for posting and bringing back such fond childhood memories.

  • tenacious d should cover these. and thanks. been looking for these for YEARS!!!!

  • OMG I;ve been thinking of this for months THANKS!!!

  • Beautiful harmony in these, especially on "afternoon" and "door" (in Capital I). People keep saying these wonderful singers had to be on drugs and crap like that, but I think not! To be this talented musically, drugs would have wrecked everything!

  • It's only one singer, according to Muppet Wiki, it's Steve Zuckerman.

He just recorded three tracks of his voice to create the harmony.

  • Wow, that's really neat! Thanx, I never would've guessed.

  • I wish I could get it on my Zune somehow!

  • i love these songs...i can't believe this is on youtube, thanks...(and yea, Elmo has been the death of Sesame Street)

  • Yes. Because Sesame Street was originally concieved as a show that could be enjoyed both by preschoolers *and* their parents.

When they started giving Elmo so much screen time, they created a big merchandise tie-in opportunity but turned off the adults in the audience.

It will bite them in the end. Yeah, they sell a lot of dolls but sooner or later, the public will stop rushing to their defense when the GOP tries to kill their funding b/cause the voters will be sick of Sesame Street.

  • Part of what will end up biting them in the end is the fact the muppets now belong to Disney.

  • Oh yeah, you're right! I'd forgotten that.

(Excuse me, I think I'm going to go barf now.)

  • Sesame street owns the Sesame Street muppets.

  • @EyeLean5280

Ironically, I find Elmo a bastion of the old school Sesame Street.

  • Elmo should be arrested for killing Sesamestreet. Elmo's world?! come on give me a break.

  • @chowder707

I will agree, "Elmo's World" is pretty bad!

  • Center of the sky? I don't think there is no shuch place.

  • WHO GIVES A FLYING LEAP?????

  • Was that really necessary? (If you feel it was, maybe you should ask yourself why.)

  • Its called USA

  • Wow - who knew there were so many of us! I too, am a capita I and lower case n fan, and I never forgot either song. This is the first time I've heard them in at least 25 years...thanks very much.

  • Thank you thank you thank you for uploading... "Capital I" is my favorite Sesame Street song ever... like others, I've been humming it to myself most of my adult life and wondering if anyone else remembered.... :sigh:

  • been humming this to myself on and off for 30(?) years, never aware why, but holy fuck this sounds as awsome as I always knew it did. Glad I found it again. Wow, childhood flashbacks

  • yes it does awaken something that was put there when I watched it as a child :')

  • I love these old SS songs and I am completely regressing right now

  • me too :)

  • Such a lovely childhood memory you preserved for us. Thank you! I love both of those songs!

  • These brought back very happy memories as a child wat ching this when they were forst shown on SS. Beautiful music and Steve Zuckerman is awesome to shape our childhoods with these few great songs.

  • Steve Zuckerman

  • There's no Wikipedia entry for him (Steve Zuckerman) just yet.

  • You know Steve Zuckerman is brilliant when he responds to letters of the alphabet with such beautiful emotions and then teaches us to, as well.

  • YES!

  • Steve Zuckerman is absalutely brilliant

  • Definitely would be quite interesting.

Does he realise how many people have been influenced by his awesome little songs?

Does he think it strange that these songs have a following?

I wonder if he recorded more songs with that weird - Cat Stevens/Beatles/Mamas and the Papas - sort of feel?

    I'd love to know more.

  • i want a tab for "the lower case n!"

  • great classic videos brings back many memmories. Here's to all finding thier rocketships so that they won't be lonely anymore

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! I LOVED "Capital I" when I was growing up, and I had actually forgotten about "Lowercase N" until I saw this again. Here's to "lowercase n" not being lonely anymore!

  • The fact that Steve Zuckerman wrote and performed these incredible songs when he was only 20 absolutely blows my mind. How many 20-year-olds today would be able to create music of this quality? Very Very few.

  • Turn-Tableists can still be pretty cool,

but somehow it's just not quite the same, is it?

...but seriously you're right. These songs of his have stood the test of time. Pure gold!

  • Never noticed, but the two songs fit together quite well. I'd buy the album by these guys!

  • I search for 'Imagination Rain' to put with them but couldn't find it.

    Can anyone find it?

It's just 1 guy btw, and yes I'd buy a CD of Steve's just for these 3 songs.
