On an observatory note, I want to commend you on your uncanny sense of observing everyone’s surroundings and articulate style. Some of the content (like parts of this post…) feels a little like talk radio that is against your ideology, which makes it difficult yet entertaining to endure.
Unless you mean that there is not enough population with interests in topics other than community gossip or something, as opposed to more intellectual stuff. People are like that everywhere..
Your reference to lack of secular culture reminds me of Rebbe Chanina ben Dosa's teaching in chapter 3 of Pirkei Avos: "He in whom the fear of sin goes before his wisdom, his wisdom shall endure; but he in whom wisdom precedes the fear of sin, his wisdom will not endure." Not that I know u or anything, but that's what came to mind...
@ecgirl100 No you're going to hell - chazal tell us to laugh and appreciate life and art, you don't so you're going to hell and to the proctologist to pull the kishke out of your ass.
lol funny vid. I grew up in Monsey and my mothers friend is exactly how you describe these people...with the readers digest in their bathroom lmao. too funny. I'm not religious though I think its all a bunch of bs as you describe it haha
I think we also need to stop putting so much emphasis on clothing and appearance. The clothes SHOULD NOT BE THE ONLY thing that dictates how we view one another (or being judgemental of one another). I've met several intellegent, frum Jews who don't wear black and white and a hat all the time. Likewise some of the coolest people I've met just happen to wear black and white all the time as well.
i can relate as well. I'm a baal teshuva and I've gotten the uncomfortable "your different" looks from people, especially from the kids (yet I still wear a velvet keepa).
However, I've realized that as much as I can't stand the things that seperate different sects of orthodox Judaism, we still need to appreciate its diversity on a different perspective. Some Jews are great @ chesed, some gevurah, some both, and some none (unfortunately). pirkei avos talks about this. cherish what makes u unique
I can definitely relate. Been to Monsey many times. Been the only guy not wearing a hat, or a velvet Kippa, or an non-white shirt. It is extremely uncomfortable.
Can you imagine how someone who isn't at all religious feels walking into any Orthodox shul for a relative's simcha? We can all learn from this kind of experience to be more welcoming towards guests and more tolerant of people who don't share our background.
You are a modern orthadox idiot, who thinks that whoever is frummer than you is too frum and whoever aint as frum as you, aint frum enough. You must be where its at huh buddy? You can disgrace your own name all you want guy, just dont do it on the expense of others.
eugewis, you're a ultra orthodox idiot. You think that since he has a problem with ultra orthodox people being uneducated towards modernish orthodox, they are too frum. Remeber that one time you met him, and you were able to correctly judge him? Neither do I.
Btw, i'm the non suit guy at my shul. I get the stares from everyone, and i can only find recluse in my friends I'm with that (usually) don't have suits.
Poor boy--saw your blog and came back to support you--look at it this way:
1) you CAN remove the comments
2) just think: each time someone comes and leaves a comment, they are giving you a view, which is pushing your number of views up; enough haters and you'll hit record levels!
lol anyway keep the vids coming.
And one quick ger-ish question, is it taboo to make a video about Shavuot that is funny? Why aren't there any?
If I removed the coments I would stooping to a GW Bush level of patriot act esque sensorship- which I abhor. Comments wil not be edeletd unless anti-semitic, racist or homophobic.
My "Christian Objections 2 Judaism--My Response-pt 1" video got 150 views within 24 hours of being posted; and I got a lot of pm's from people who disagreed totally. No opposition comments, though; interesting.
Mr. Violinstapr-how many jewish HUMOROUS, ENTERTAINING, HILARIOUS, COMICAL, TONGUE IN CHEEK videos do you have to make controversy?? And how many times do I have to tell you to get a life and a decent sense of humor? I have very little energy to argue with you yet again and to thank you for making Bais take down their video-(that was sarcastic btw, do you know what that means)!!!
mind dumb:I know that in your assimilated goyshe world, you find these videos funny since it makes fun of people. If it would have been your sister, we wouldn't be having such discussion. Like it or not they're far better people than the likes of you, I rather give them credit for trying to do what you don't have the courage to do. While you're going down the drain with your "humor" they keep building communities that are the envy of the world.
So to claim that many non chassidim do the same mischief is simply not an argument because one can not compare the two. And if you do compare the two then the whole image and raison d'être of chassidus is deceptive.
let me see if I understand your sick reasoning: you are allowed to critisize other people that are more religious than you because you have chosen not be be as religious as they are? in other words you are judging them for the very sins you commit but since you are not as religious...you can be their judge? jews are supposed to be smart....
I know some close minded people might disagree with me or even yell in hypocrisy but it is sadly true that there are many chassidim who are screwed up and twisted. And yes there are plenty of non chassidim who are screwed up and twisted as well. However, if you dress a certain way and put yourself on a higher pedestal then you have higher standards to keep up with.
there is something more hipocritical than the hipocrisy you criticize, that is to be an assimilated foul mouth scorpion mocking other people when they themeselves do the very things they dare critisize. If you feel that jews need to become better jews...begin with yourself!
Thanks. Surely then, based upon the list of publications below, I reiterate my earlier comments. Your audience is not laughing with those whom you insult, but at them. You are providing them a way to vent hatred & disrespect disguised in your feux comedy. Your agenda is transparent and you cannot hide from its results, whether you feel you're being humorous or not. You should be concerned with more important matters than the hits you recieve here. Is this the legacy you want to be remembered by?
I agree 100% with mocrman! I deal with antimemitism and those idiots the missionaries....they love garbage like this to spit at our people. I resent that he assumes negative things about the very religious, and I 'm personally insulted by your sick satire and vulgar gentile-minded stupidity. If there is any respect left in the minute spect of jewishness you have...you should understand that!
Thanks for responding. I understand all of the supposed satire that you so thoughtfully crafted. Your answers don't do justice to my inquiry's. Which venue in Washington Heights did you perform in? What publication will be featuring your writing? Since you stand behind your standup, you are willing to identify them, aren't you?
Of course- I preformed in the Mt Sinai shul on the corner of 187 and Bennet in the heights in late November of last year- way before I poste anything on youtube- my blog is huge compared with this- 2000 hits a day.
The publications featuring me- NJ Jewish News, Long Island Jewish Star and soon the Jewish Week and Village voice- with my latest connected fan.
I am also featured on a Documentary made by two Chabad women- on shomer negia- its called Cant Touch This.
I'm in agreement with you that there are folks in the areas you describe who could use a little humor in their outlook. Consider performing "live" for them. Would you say this material to their faces? I doubt it. Those folks are not the one's viewing your posts. Your viewers are elsewhere, laughing at their brother's expense. If knowing you personally is necessary to truly understand you're true intent, then it's your obligation to prevent others from misinterpreting what your message is...
Its actually funny you say this because I actually did do one show in Washington Heights and preformed this exact material- it was loved by the audience- I have plenty of readers/watchers who are black hat people- Rabbis, kollel guys, yeshiva guys- and more, if you aren't from a yeshiva back round most of my stuff is hard to get.
You can watch my performance on facebook. I am planning another larger show for the summer. I am writing an article with this stuff for a Jewish paper as well.
You mentioned Monsey, and more specifically, you mentioned Parker Blvd. After that, it's not so hard to figure out where you were. You should be sharing your pent-up frustrations with a trusted Rav or counselor, not posting them on the web for the whole world to hear.
I concur with some of your observations, but feel that you are venting out of anger, and this will result in nothing positive.
I have but one thing to comment: Parshah discusses the avoidance of slander or gossip, Loshan Hora. Why did the Torah need to tell us?Yet like so many other things,if we take an honest look around us,we do need to be reminded about these values. We must realize the power of speech.A person may possess a negative characteristic, but the natural good in him will strive to suppress this aspect and redirect it for good purposes.
Well admiring chassidim is one thing and making fun of them is another. I never said I didn't admire them- your problem is that you cannot take a joke- and on top of this- you are not willing to ackknowledge that out of the Jewish community as a whole the chassidim are the most Screwed up and have undoubtedly caused loads of assimilation based on their views that other Jews are not good unless they look like them.
Just putting on some garb does not excuse their illegal behaviors-
I don't see what you see! Being jewish particulary for a hassid is dificult! while most jews prefeer the easy and lazy "version" of judaism. This hassidim celebrate jewishness in its most pure form. for me making fun of this people is like making fun of the very esence of my jewish soul! I can't blame them for being protective, the real and loyal jew has done so since the bigining of our nation. They have what they have because the put a fence around themeselves, the causes envy to the assimilated!
about "illegal behavior" I recent that! I refuse to believe that! yes there are people that may have done some of this minor and technical illegalities, but what about you? are you following the legalities of jusdaism? What does judaism teaches about gossip, slander, about ridiculing others at the expense of humor? do you have any idea of the irresponsable act you have commited by presenting this video? I deal with antisemitism and this video is ideal for them to promote it ! is a Chilul Hashem!
well, I understand where you are coming from is not easy to be jewish...but you see,It is with this chasids that judaism will go on to the next generation, you will give to your children a assimilated ,americanized, corrupted version of it! I admire more the dicipline , prefference of absolute values and their resolusion to keep them, than the pathetic way on which you look at them! I admire chasidim!
Dude if you haven't you gotta check out my blog- you would love it- thats where all my rants come from. The blog is way bigger then the vids so I update it more often- although I try and post one video or more per week.

I went to an orthodox synagogue to see a lecture by a reporter. I wore a leather jacket and no kippah.
From a secular perspective there's nothing even a little off about that. But in this environment, random people gave me angry looks the entire night.
Wow. You'd think they wouldn't make religious demands on people who were there for a non-religious reason. But they do.
Frumsatire - you should read Shalom Auslander (if you haven't yet). He grew up in Monsey too and hated every second of it.
