@apeirogon It's no Freakazoid, and I agree entirely with you, but My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has ALL of the above mentioned qualities. It's the newest incarnation of the MLP franchise and it is, quite frankly, awesome. It has a MASSIVE following among children and adults of all ages and genders and has been voted the best new show of the year or something like that. My kids love it and my wife and I probably love it better than THEY do LOL. It's all on Youtube if you'd like to try it.

@Werewoofy I just watched episode one and unfortunately I do find that it definitely lacks that quintessentially 1990s lunacy and parodical inventiveness - there is a lot of stuff in shows like Freakazoid that would go right over a childs head because of what it is referencing, as well as the lack of boundaries in terms of the downright warped humour that was often very "in your face" , erratic and unreasonable... This MLP show is too tame and too constrained.

@apeirogon Just a heads up, however, the first episode is a poor example of what the series is like as a whole. The series IS tame because of it's intended audience, but it is FLOODED with jokes and references that kids would have no hope of recognizing.

Ex. the first two episodes of season two have John de Lancie playing the main villain and he is practically PLAYING "Q" from Star Trek: The Next Generation. However,if you wanted to give it only one last shot, try ep.25 "Party of One" ^_^ peace

@Werewoofy If anything it's more like The Powerpuff Girls than Freakazoid, but I still liked that show more. It's the sense of originality in those old shows, sure there were a few laughs in that MLP episode but for me it's fairly derivative and never propels you into that "What the HELL just happened?!" state of humourous bewilderment that is so characteristic of shows from the mid 1990s up to around 2005. Thanks for trying to help a lady in need, but my only cure is a time machine :) :(

@apeirogon That's cool ^_^ It's not for everyone. I personally love both for their own reasons. I'm just happy to see that same level of quality and care in today's shows at all. I had just about given up on this decade LOL. Now if only they can keep it up and get the world of video games to revisit their roots in the same way. Both industries have almost died with the very rare exception of one or two shows and titles. Good luck with your time machine search ^_^ Gotta love the 90s
