first of all, everyone should just shut the hell up. how many of you are actually ice dancers? it may have looked good, but technically, it probably wasn't. for the lithuanians to say that the israeli team paid the judges is just bullshit. they're just sore losers and that's why they didn't deserve the medal!
those jewish pigs can keep those medals for them. It's just a piece of metal. Everyone knows Drobiazko and Vanagas are miles ahead of them and they can only dream about the talent of Drobiazko and Vanagas
what is really annoying for me, is that this fluff pretty much shows the Israeli couple as the ones hurt, because someone was trying to "take their moment away from them". ugh. I'm proud of all the skaters who signed that petition. But my heart breaks every time I think about how many times D/V were undermarked. They should have won many worlds' medals, not just one (2002 and 2006 for sure). But at least they won people's hearts instead. Ch/S will never be as remembered and appreciated as them.
and were marked lower at all three events in 2006, when D/V came back (not saying the judging was fair then either, though). Ice dance judging is killing me, even now, I mean, last year's world's podium was a HUGE mistake...
Yes, if you're Canadian and have the whole American media lobby behind you! The Lithuanians were almost always robbed, but that case was special. They usually came up 5th, even when they deserved better. That time, the Olympic champions and bronze medalists were absent, which meant that D/V could expect at the very least a bronze medal. They skated wonderfully, but the judges decided to bring the Israeli, who were usually behind them, on the podium, thereby leaving D/V out of the podium again.
What it has to do with Israel?I wish some people had been mora accurate in what they are writing ,espesially involving nationalism .Of course Drobyazko&Vanagas were clearly robbed and deserved probably more than bronze. What it has to do with the Israely skaters and the whole country?I doubt they paid for those medals .If somebody paid for it ,it weren't the skaters ,neither Israeli federation (no way they would pay -they just don't care about figure skating ).
Dear hatula87, saying word Israel I didn't mean all coutry or nationality. I was talking about those two people who reprezent the coutry. When the winner of basketball match is for example the team from Italy, we sometimes say that Italy won, isn't it? And that doesn't mean that all italians were playing. However, I apologize for not talking clearly. peace? :)
Drobyazko&Vanagas were inspired by two gold medals in pairs in SLC ,they thought that things changed after that and ISU would examine their protest .A HUGE mistake - it works only if you're Canadian.
"From 13th to 5th in the world" in less than a year? Almost "unheard of"? BIG WHOOP!! Krylova & Ovsiannikov (RUS) placed 5th in their debut at '95 Worlds, and most recently '07, Virtue & Moir (CAN) finished 6th in their first Senior Worlds.
There is no whoop. A skip of 8 (!) places in a year IS unheard of in ice dancing. Teams that were placed high from the beginning are out of connection, it only shows how strong they were from the start. But to skip 8 places in a season, you have to improve drastically. I can't recall any team doing that. Can you?
P.S. Virtue and Moir are competing under another scoring system, so they shouldn't even be mentioned in issues connected to the old system.
There was definitely something going on at that competition - Chait's father had known ties to the mafia and he apparently made death threats to some of the judges during the competition. At least the Lithuanians got a bronze medal in 2000.
That's a very interesting video. It is a pity we can't read the entire petition. What I liked with this is that it did not come from the Lithuanians, but from all the other skaters who felt this couple had been wronged for years and that they has to say something in their favour. I personally think they should have been competing not for the bronze, but for the gold with such a routine (although Lobacheva & Averbukh were great as well).

@onice331 well, how about the 38 REAL ice dancers who signed the petition on behalf of the Lithuanians?
Haley452 11 months ago
@Haley452 well, if they were real ice dancers then they would suck it up and work harder for next time.

Lithuanians were robbed so many times ...I wonder what are the REAL reasons that this special case attracted and still attractes so much attention

For an example:
Bourne&Kraatz went from 14 at 1993 Worlds to 6 at 1994 Worlds - they skiped 8 places.
Anissina&Peizerat went from 12 at 1994 Euro to 6 1t 1996 Euro
Lobacheva&Averbukh were 15 at 1995 Worlds and the next year placed 6 - they skiped 9 placed (!).
hatula87 3 years ago
Very interesting. I went to check and here what I've found out:
-Lobacheva&Averbukh: 5 pairs weren't there, they beat only 4 teams.
-Bourne&Kraatz: 4 pairs weren't present, they beat just 4 teams.
-Anissina&Peizerat: You probably meant they went from 12th in 1994 to 5th in 1995. Again, 3 pairs were missing, so the beat 4 couples.
Then, I went to check about Chait&Sakhnovsky:
Big surprise - 4 pairs were missing, so they bet only 4 couples as well. Strange pattern...
akil3120 3 years ago
So, I guess their rise isn't that exceptional after all. Thanks hatula87, the truth came out.
I just lost my confidence in the commentators. They should do their homework better. It took me no more than 10 minutes...

Brithish Eurosport is the best:)
Anyway, I don't think Galit and Sergey deserved those medals. They have been good world class dancers but not medal material.
Fairly speaking, based on the quality of the skating, the podium would be totally different.
