  • I would have been at this show except I was downtown at The Rock Lounge with Killing Joke..

  • I will screen another clip from this concert film at the Mudd Club Reunion on October 28 (2010) at the Delancy Street Lounge.

  • The best non bullshit guitarist in the world - Andy Gill.

  • Bob - just saw this a year after your comment - but I was at that show. Lot's of fun, at Club 57 in NYC.

  • What song is this?

  • @Jkfilms7 ---"He'd Send in the Army"

    !!!

  • The guy with the chair must have gotten hammered.

  • Anyone see the Irving Plaza show opening for the Buzzcocks?

  • BEST BAND of the 80's (in my book)...thought LONG and hard bout that one, too !!! : P

  • the most compelling live band of their day. Go4 shows always were a sweaty affair

  • The Private's not born that way

  • Surely the only band to gig in New York wearing East German Youth Movement shirts...excellent stuff.

  • @stylophobia yeah well Joy Division never made it to Hurrahs due to obvious reasons

  • The best club/venue NYC had to offer! Never witnessed a bad show at Hurrah! And if you were a concert goer in NYC in the early 80's you had a lot to choose from!

  • This sums up why Greil Marcus didn`t hang around to see the Buzzcocks headlining-he didn`t want them to sully the experience of witnessing Gang of Four for the first time...

  • There used to be a much-poorer-quality clip of "Damaged Goods" on YouTube that looked very similar to this performance. I wonder what happened to it.

  • Perhaps you refer to a Japanese bootleg somebody posted. I asked them to withdraw that as I am planning the first official release of my footage. This is a new sample edit made from digital remasters from the original U-Matic camera masters. It was shot on New Year's Day of 1980-81 at a club called Hurrah. The Mekons opened for GO4 and performed with them for the encore.

  • In that case, I look forward to seeing it.

  • As Jon King says "we were The Clash but without the cowboy suits"

  • Oh man there's more of this? Please post!
