The best club/venue NYC had to offer! Never witnessed a bad show at Hurrah! And if you were a concert goer in NYC in the early 80's you had a lot to choose from!
This sums up why Greil Marcus didn`t hang around to see the Buzzcocks headlining-he didn`t want them to sully the experience of witnessing Gang of Four for the first time...
Perhaps you refer to a Japanese bootleg somebody posted. I asked them to withdraw that as I am planning the first official release of my footage. This is a new sample edit made from digital remasters from the original U-Matic camera masters. It was shot on New Year's Day of 1980-81 at a club called Hurrah. The Mekons opened for GO4 and performed with them for the encore.
I would have been at this show except I was downtown at The Rock Lounge with Killing Joke..

I will screen another clip from this concert film at the Mudd Club Reunion on October 28 (2010) at the Delancy Street Lounge.

Surely the only band to gig in New York wearing East German Youth Movement shirts...excellent stuff.

There used to be a much-poorer-quality clip of "Damaged Goods" on YouTube that looked very similar to this performance. I wonder what happened to it.
