Chara has only been clocked in the high 90s for game situations. Shea Weber, Alex Ovechkin, PK Subban and Sheldon Souray (when he was a bit younger) were slapping in the 104-106 range in regular season games.
One timers not counting, Shea Weber can pound it from a standstill at 103, PK Subban at 99 and Old Sheldon Souray at 97.
Chara ranks after them. It's all game to game, but given a rough scope of clocked shots.
Chara has been clocked to shooting in the 94-98 mph range in regular season games. And sure a few are higher. But both Shea Weber and PK Subban can shoot harder that Chara on average.
All Star Challenge means squat when comparing two players in their day to day games.
Only challenge with some relevance is the speed challenge, and that can change constantly.

14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points is pretty good for his rookie year. He made a bigger splash and more interviews than any other rookie this year. Obviously he's promising and people want to know his story, or they wouldn't bother with the interviews. He's an exciting player to watch, has a fantastic repertoire and knows how to get shit done. And for what he's paid? I'd take him over Ovechkin any day.

Chara has only been clocked in the high 90s for game situations. Shea Weber, Alex Ovechkin, PK Subban and Sheldon Souray (when he was a bit younger) were slapping in the 104-106 range in regular season games.
One timers not counting, Shea Weber can pound it from a standstill at 103, PK Subban at 99 and Old Sheldon Souray at 97.
Chara ranks after them. It's all game to game, but given a rough scope of clocked shots.

Chara has been clocked to shooting in the 94-98 mph range in regular season games. And sure a few are higher. But both Shea Weber and PK Subban can shoot harder that Chara on average.
All Star Challenge means squat when comparing two players in their day to day games.
Only challenge with some relevance is the speed challenge, and that can change constantly.

14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points is pretty good for his rookie year. He made a bigger splash and more interviews than any other rookie this year. Obviously he's promising and people want to know his story, or they wouldn't bother with the interviews. He's an exciting player to watch, has a fantastic repertoire and knows how to get shit done. And for what he's paid? I'd take him over Ovechkin any day.

Players can shoot harder than Chara. That's why his shot is not the official record. It's the "All Star Weekend Skills Challenge Record".
