  • That'll cut through anything right there.

  • Edgard ?

  • Edgar used to come to the winter park youth center in winter park,fl we were all to young to drink, played with a band called Tin House with floyd Radford. were awesome..

  • they don't allow this much talent and soul nowhere near the mainstream these days.... Edgar was/ is baaaadd!! Ronnie Montrose on guitar too..

  • they don't allow this much talent and soul nowhere near the mainstream these days.... Edgar was/ is baaaadd!!

  • This is not 1972..I saw him with WhiteTrash in 72,This was 74 with the EdgarWinter Group!

  • T A L E N T & :) PURE GENIUS

  • A young gifted Ronnie Montrose! What an awesome guitarist! Rick was good but Ronnie is amazing! Thanks Guru!

  • Damn!

  • tobacco road...

  • Holy Sh*t I wasn't even a drip in 72 but this sounds damn gooood to me :)

  • anybody that can appreciate these guys has great taste in music...

  • Edgar is one talented bastard that never got his due. I saw White Trash every time they played the Fillmore East, and once when Edgar played there solo. Unfortunately, music is littered with the bodies of the super talented that just never struck a cord with the masses. Fortunately, there are some of us who still appreciate talent. Recognition sometimes comes to a few late in life. Maybe his past is just prologue.

  • 4 people r racist against albinos

  • Wow...this took me back to my own lucky concert experience, in the summer of '76 watching the EWG in my own hometown of Huntsville, AL. They were opening for Foghat...can you believe it? They had the whole show down to a nonstop boogie meltdown...whipsawing through seven or eight songs in less than an hour...still they had the moves and the vocals all down to a science. It was probably the same Las Vegas style show they had been doing for years...It hit us like a bomb...we loved it.

  • i was up against the speakers at one of his shows about this time WOW.

  • Saw this tour with Edgar, Jerry LaCroix, Rick Derringer and Randy Z in Jacksonville FLA in '71. Jeesus.

  • is this recording available on CD, MP3...anything? Got the white trash album, want this one too!!

  • 4:29 he diddly dood his ass off

  • One of the ten great moments in rock history is when Edgar says to the audience at the Apollo, "People keep askin' me.....where's your brother?" and out walks Johnny who just tears it to shreds.

  • @ROCKSTARCRANE He did the same thing in NYC and I was there to witness it...

  • Gurumachine: was this from Edgar's Concert at the Phil. Spectrum? I saw his 'White Trash' band there in 72! As a junior in HA - I LOVED the Winter Bros (lost my soul to slide/blues axe long ago)! Edgar sang 'dying to live' to close the night, we were high as kites and drove home in my dad's 1969 4 door broughm caddie (we could do no wrong!). Now though - at 55 - I KNOW we were just LUCKY sons of guns! Edgar's throat voice HAD to be BLEEDING afterwards. Axemen REALLY indulged back then!

  • Damn. I saw that tour. Jeeeeeze! Great post!!!!!!

  • Greatness!

  • I think I just pissed myself .-.

  • I was trying to ask if u ever heard of the blues brothers, they're called Johnny & Edgar

  • no I'm not french,I was just so freakin' drunk I started writing like one

  • E.W. is one talented sonovabish

  • TOTALLY AWESOME, I saw them in concert around that time, think it was somewhere in Maryland,,

  • OMFG I had no idea that jOhnny and Edgar were related until now! HAHA! makes sense with all of that music genius! amazing!

  • it wasn't mine

  • I just peed on a Madonna cd

  • dan and ronnie kickin some major butt too

  • wver hear of te lues bros we call them edgar and johnny

  • he said I rock for a white kid

  • I talked to Edgar what have u done?

  • yes Rush Limbaugh in HOF

  • He won playboy jazz sax of the year like 100 times

  • wow he still rocks me!

  • It is Edgar, not "Edgard"

  • Was that shred guitar in 1972?

  • Hey, how about that voice/guitar duel from 4:27? It's just as amazing as the one on the White Trash live album at the Apollo.

  • this is one of those peaces of music, listen to it on his live album and you wont forget it. I am proud to be of that generation and we still muscle and sweat it out the way it bleeds through our fingers and soul, playing instruments for real and do not need any hall of fame marketing of a plastic world and empty easy listening.

  • I saw EW white trash, humble pie , cactus with Appice and atom bogart the night the Filmore East closed it's doors forever, edgars voice was not of this World a machine with that accurate raspy vibrato and tones like the voice of an Angel!!!! Nuff said!!!!!

  • I was in the Navy at Norfolk, Virginia. Christmas '72. Edgar and White Trash were playing William and Mary, so about six of us went to Williamsburg. Started snowing about 2 PM, concert time was 7:30, about 13 inchs. About 300 showed up, and we KNEW this concert wouldn't happen. To our SHOCK, Edgar and Derringer came out and SHOOED everyone down front from the "nose bleed sections". They played for over two hours AND mingled with the crowd. I remember a great time. I wish you were there.

  • The Most Ridiculous Talent I have ever seen or heard in 59 years. If this Man has not been honoured I can't work it out. I hope Lou Gramm is in the Hall of Fame? - Somebody should do something about this stupid state of affairs.

  • They really were a great opening for West,Bruce & Laing in Dec.72.After that tour they were soon headlining .Ronnie Montrose then split to form his own rock'n band w/ a hit single. Not too shabby

  • is that ronnie montrose?

  • @westrokker Yes it is.

  • i didnt even know he played the sax...what ever happened to him?

  • I saw Edgar and the Tower of Power Horns in Visalia Ca and saw Johnny in Exeter, Ca and Sammy playing in Fresno Ca. I met Bill Church and his family,. and Sammy and Edgar. And I sat right in front of Johnny when he played, close enough to reach out & touch him.

  • Montrose and Winters rock...

  • I saw this tour when i was 17.This was their best line up.This show bowled me over Ronnie Montrose was awesome!

  • dan hartman on bass and ronnie montrose and chuck ruff classic

  • edgar va beach

  • saw them both live individually

  • rocker53zero,I have never heard Edgar Winter do Tabacco Road before! Good one! ♥

I love the nutter too! LOL! ♥

  • I concur, saw him live in Virginia Beach 30 years ago, also saw johnny couple weeks b4 or after, seen johnny live twice in Detroit also

  • as with his brother only edgar can pick up ANYTHINGand play the hell out of it not to mention vocal i guess we have to wait till there rewarded in heaven and they will be rightly served so dont worry my friends those were 2 of gods favorites and not sellin out to boppers kept them rite where folks like us needed it alls cool in the grand scheam rock out my old freaks and always be yourself peace out

  • this is incredible. thanx fer postin!

  • oh yeah the best put the others to rest! Ronnie and Edgar, i did it with my band and i salute those guys, this is rock at its finest! Get 'er done bros!

  • My brother was at that show in the keys.

  • my name is tom parker and i watch gay porn

  • @steamedaaron316 , im the real tom parker, enough of your shit boy, stand back and all hail the king albino

  • Whata' Genius...could've played any gig with anyone on the tenor!

  • UH, huh, huh, huh, huh....YOU SAID THAT RIGHT! ;-)) WAY TOO COOL!

  • F... YEAh !

  • I,v seen him @ Miami Metro Zoo and Knights Key Campground in the keys and he got the crowd jammin, both times ! Theres just nothin, like a Blind dude jamin, the blues.(He,s legally blind, sees only shades of gray.).Wish I woulda seen the beach show but then maybe I did and can,t remember cause of the "smoke on the water".

  • I saw them perform this on the front lawn of the Miami Beach Symphony Hall (now the Fillmore-Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater). First rock concert that I ever attended.

  • Ian Gillan copied Edgar winter's screaming style.

  • Gillan always been an screamer.

Maybe he copied this, as he do on Strange Kind of Woman when they did it live.

But his singing is mcuh better than Edgar's

  • That scream at 4:06-21 will rip your skin right off. Dang.

  • I forgot Edgar played the reeds! ALL his stuff is SWEET!

  • fuckin tone sound on the guitar at the end is the best man pure fuckin classic rock gota love em old marshalls

  • Rick Derringer played the guitar parts on the Live Roadwork album

  • what a voice!!great performance one of his best at his best

  • El puto hermano, otro genio!

  • Ahhhh!,"White Trash"-:Road Work at its best,I dont think Jerry LaCroix is taking part on this recording,Great Album, double Live L.p.,"Give it Everything you Got"...

  • And that's Ronnie Montrose on guitar.....just after the White Trash live LP.....

  • This guy "rocks" or what? And what a voice! Can you imagine Johnnny and Edgar mom's face when there were

rehearsin' at home? No wonder rock and roll didn't died!

Killer video! Got my 5 star, I've been saving for a rainy day (it's rainin' right now)

    Wow! ...and thanks.

    ETBRAIN

  • @ETBRAIN Johnny as a kid used to practice screaming at home with his head in a pillow.

  • @ETBRAIN Actually his mom set up the rehearsals . They were all musicians.

  • 72 Spooky Tooth opened up 4 Edgar.

One of the best shows ever.

  • Wow...

  • O EDGAR WINTER É O CARA *O*

  • such a nice song from such a nice musician ;D

  • goddamit i love this song

  • I think this is from ABC's In Concert show, which used to be simulcast on local radio stations affiliates in stereo. The venue is Madison Square Garden and the band is Edgar, Ronnie Montrose, Chuck Ruff, and the bass player's name, I believe, was Hart/Hartman (something like that). I still have the original stereo broadcast on cassette. I need to get around to digitizing that stuff unless it's already out there. Anybody know?

  • Dan Hartman on bass. He had that sappy 90's pop hit "I Can Dream About You".

  • I heard that song the other day and wondered if it might by that Dan Hartman. Oh well, he made his own musical bed (or grave?) with that one!

  • nah i think it was 80's

  • @speak4you Yeah, it was from In Concert. Like you I taped it on cassette and have it around here someplace. I remember Dan Hartman picking up a Stratocaster in the middle of Let's get it on and playing a fantastic Hendrix solo with wang bar and all! All of the songs from that broadcast was on youtube for a while only as an audio then it dissappeared.

  • Always bugged the hell out of me that Edgar Winter bought into that Scientology crap.

Like his music though, especially White Trash.

  • Edgar Winter and White Trash was the first Rock concert I ever attended--'71 or '72, and I was about 13; Mandrill opened up the show, which was held on the front lawn of the Miami Beach Symphony Hall, now the Jackie Gleason Theater. It was a great show--they were hot. It was also the first time I witnessed someone freaking out on acid--sure turned me off from ever wanting to try any of that shit.

  • Hey I saw the same tour when I was 13 ! It as at the Arena in Richmond Va: White Trash verily smoked, blowing away Alice Cooper who topped the bill later that evening. Cooper was darn good (they were touring behind the just released "Killer"), but just no match.

Lotta drugs that show too. Part of times, I guess.

  • Aarfeld, also my first concert! Edgar had just come out with "They Only Come Out..." Bad Company opened. The air quality was particularly 'sweet' for a my 13 year old lungs!

  • Why should it bother you? He can make up his own mind about what religion he wants to follow. Besides he seems to be doing just fine and very successful! So stop being a bigot!!!

  • Hey wildshovel why dont you go and practice your black magic and let Edgar Winter practice whatever religion he wants to?!!!

  • "...why dont you go and practice your black magic and let Edgar Winter practice whatever religion he wants to?!!!..."

    ?

I don't quite follow: is my disappointment that Winter is into Scientology somehow an implication that I am into black magic?

I'm not saying Winter has to practice any particular religion. But I know what Scientology is all about, and it is definitely *not* a religion -- it is a scam.

Don't take my word for it. Just Google "Scientology", there is plenty of evidence.

  • I agree. Any "Religion" in which you have to buy your way through with ever greater amounts of money is a scam in my book.

  • Would you teach me some black magic, please?

(ALL religion is a scam, imho)

  • oh, how does he play hearing it for the first time?

  • Rick Derringer. Can't believe he pulled "Jump jump, jump"

  • His voice back then was a bit darker and... sharper somehow.

Comparing this to the '07 version of the song, he's still got it. But I preffered his voice as it was back then.

  • isaw this tour when i was 17.Ronnie was on only the one tour.He wore all black and leaped off the stage. This show was so heavy for its time.frankenstein free ride these guys were in the moment!

  • How does a loser like Madonna makes it into the Rock and Roll hall of fame and Edgar hasn't?!? How anyone thinks Madonna is rock and roll is beyond me! Edgar is so talented yet he doesn't receive the respect he deserves.

  • Silly you, why would they actually induct people who have had a influence on rock & roll? That would just make too much sense. Look at Alice Cooper, he surely has had no influence on rock. It isn't like tons of artists have cited him as an influence or that his stage show has had any influence on rock at all. It isn't like Neil Peart has actually been influential to other rock drummers. If they were the hall of fame would have obviously inducted them (it's not like they are a complete joke).

  • Well put.

  • Exactly. But the worst one is Beez from Japan.

  • @rubbersoul1957 i agree, i bet if edgar slept with the right person, he'd be in the hall of fame. im sure thats how modonna got in.

  • @900wheels Your 100 percent f*ckin - a right

  • @rubbersoul1957 TRUER..than true...funny, but, it seems to me like madonna is a new bie( I'm 56) She still has yet to impress me...still seems like some new lady gaga, or..I predict the r+r hall o'fame will ex- communicate her in several years...if edgar is not a member very soon, I will stage a sit- in and a fuck - in in front of the front doors

  • @ioriorioriorio F... the Hall of Shame..., no one who knows cares anymore, sadly...

  • @rubbersoul1957 marketing. *sigh*

  • @rubbersoul1957 Hey man don't knock Madonna!

  • @rubbersoul1957 Word... Madonna aint fit to suck Edgar's dick.

  • @rubbersoul1957 I totaly agree with you, But I would put Rush in the rock and road hall of fame way before edgar!

  • Edgar has amazing musical talent.I've seen him 3-4 x and his voice is the best. I had an old vinyl recording of Edgar performing at the Apollo in Harlem with his band "White Trash". The Apollo has had few if any non persons of color perform, but Edgar's talent transcends race.

  • Rick and Dan are so talented. A shame Dan died so young. Ck out his tribute page! I have everying by Rick on CD. Great songwriter, producer, guitarist, singer. Edgar a supertalent too.

I just posted a vid playing one of Ric's blues songs on bass - ck it out and comment!

  • w/Dan Hartman on bass and Ronnie Montrose on guitar right?

  • Chuck Ruff was so kick ass! That guy was swinging his hair around a decade before speed metal bands!

  • I saw Edgar do this in Baltimore live with Rick Derringer. P.S.Did you know he only has 10% vision from being an albino. He got so close to the edge of the stage someone had to pull him back. Also saw Johnny do this too.

  • to: bearone69> this is Chuck Ruff. he now lives in Reno,NV ( i live here, and know him) he later, after this, went on to play with Sammy hagar in the early 80's. really exciting, energetic drummer, with great facial expressions, ala Keith Moon. and That's Ronnie Montrose On Guitar!

  • can someone tell me who is drumming on this?

  • Chuck Ruff

  • chuck ruff

  • That's hell of a voice :)

  • it`s better with Eric Burdon.

    Edgar is ok, but.....

  • Great Rock and Roll, I remember seeing this and from there inspired me to play guitar and bass even today. If they had a network showing these classics like MTV it would go through the roof.

  • Does anyone have the King Biscuit Hour version of this song from the early 70's, it was killer.

  • good song a bit sketchy

  • Edgar was seriously an amazingly talented artist. As a Vocalist alone he's incredible, not to mention all the other instruments he manages to play. Seriously, Why weren't they more popular?

  • Hey STOMP......yeah,this is first time I saw this, and noticed Mr. Montrose right away.........also, Rick Derringer does this too...ya know the back and forth thing with Edgar....somewhere....

  • this is the man ian gillian an ritchie blackmore heard an said right, he can scream, and ian gillan said ill do it too, thus it happened.

  • Amazing, true artists !

  • This is the stuff they should play on mtv. Thanks Edgar and the gang.Ronnie and Edgar dueling Kicks total Fricken ass.If there wasnt youtube, performances like this would be lost. Heck they even have Captain Beyond live on you tube!Put that in your crack pipe an smoke it! Later.

  • Letztes Jahr habe ich Edgar und Johnny Winter

in Bonn auf dem Konzert gehört und gesehen. Die Zeit ist stehen geblieben, wenn ich dieses Video sehe
