  • wow i posted this 6 years ago and just checked the email acct associated. lol WORRRD i havent listened to this in mad long. i remember when they used to have the gnarliest breakdowns. i miss old metalcore

  • wow its so old lol

  • One of the first videos uploaded to YouTube.

  • i saw this band last night and this song kicked ass......\../(-_-)\../ im still rockin

  • i saw this band last night and this song kicked ass......../(-_-)\../ im still rockin

  • oh wow. an if hope dies t shirt..... fuck, the nostalgia is overwhelming.

  • Every damn song had one

  • black c*cks now reign???? wth..did i hear that right??

  • what the fuck are you guys talking about unearth use to have a breakdown in every song, check out stings of consience, endless, the oncoming storm!

  • epicness 2:33

  • i really wish this drummer hadn't left the band.. his beats were perfect to the epic guitars

  • Shit, a video from 2005.. Haven't seen one before.

  • i cant stop listening to this song, one of the best and unique drummers in my opinion.

  • @hoober1990 Yeah, Mike Justian was fantastic. It's a shame nobody has been able to fill his shoes.

  • @stevenlee7 why exactly did he get fired from the band?

ive been searching but all i can find is that he got fired for numerous reasons.....that explains a lot huh haha

  • @stevenlee7 his drumwork is A+ on Fused Together

  • The breakdown in this song actually kindof disgusted me... Usually, Unearth doesn't ahve any breaks in the music, unlike Carnifax and others. The music usually just continues on. Now, I don't like Carnifax very much, and the breakdown reminded me of them... Other than that, though, it's a great song... I like how he screams over the solo a little.

  • @DagonExcelstraun Nothing about the break down sounds anything remotely like Carnifex bro. I will give you that Unearth doesnt typically to traditional break downs, but this was back when they had a larger hardcore influence to their music so those palm breaks were more prevalent. Amazing band regardless.

  • what happened to unearth?

  • seven wussys watched this vid lmao

  • sick ass drumming!!!!!

  • 0:42 that guy is like.. you know .. cool , yeah cool

  • whoa! nice clean vocals! i totally thought they were autotune

  • The vocalist sounds fucking amazing live.

  • HellFest dvd sick shit im getting the dvd cover shirt

  • 0:42 Nerd Headbanging. He just made himself cool

  • drummers half naked -_-

  • So who saw the guy slip on the banana peel at 0:52 ?

  • 2:17 = SICKKKK

  • 2:17 = SICK

  • so glad i saw them with testament..didnt put up with this dancing shit.,

  • Why does Unearth remind me of ABR and TBDM? XP

  • these lot used to be great,well..there first cd was good.then they turned into a metal band..they were a really good hardcore band.now all there cds sound the same...and to you down there, there are other bands that let you stage dive its the venues that dont.

  • @TheLeokurtcobain well they were Metalcore back then and now they are a big Thrashmetal commercal band i still like theyre music now and then till death.

  • IM GOIN TO SEE THESE GUYS with like 7 other bands on March 21st :)

  • @Zombl337 i just saw them with stick to your guns, carnifex, lizard professor, veil of maya, and fist full of war. bad ass show

  • @UnearthAlex dude im seeing the same show w/o lizard professor and fist full of war they're replaced with the ghost inside

  • man i isaw these guys twice both times it was fuking awesome, and it was before they got mainstream so i got to bullshit w/ them a lil after the set.

  • yea its tough to really get the feel when your hearing it outa the comp but to of been at that show woulda been unreal

  • INSANE!"

  • I agree. These guys are ballin as fuck live!

  • thats the old singer from calico system,...check em out

  • very very true they played in orlando back when i lived in florida and i went and saw them blew my fuckin brains out is what they did man best show ever

  • i saw them back in november last year in my small city of regina and they ripp that shit apart, they are one of the only bands that let you stage dive when their playing and i fucking love that shit so much

  • what is the name of the song they do just b4 this on the dvd?

  • great guitar sound

  • The drums are totally sick you know?

  • yes!

  • Damn, they sound just as nuts live!!

  • yeah man, there crazy as hell, i saw them in 06 without knowing who they were now there one of my favorite bands

  • in my opinion the best metalcore band next to aidl

  • i heard this song a few years back and i heard it like a month ago went fucking crazy xD its awesome

  • I fucking love this song...Unearth kicks ass

  • unearth is fucking boss!!!

  • dude comparisons, washburns, and ibanez pwn.

  • Unearth truley at their best

  • lol I dont see why you guys insult ibanez its all preference budget and honeslty ltd esp ibanez and jackson all have some good models along with almost every otehr brand. its jsut all prefernce and budget.

  • i play an ibanez s7320 cus im not a drop d fagget!

  • lol u guys are hopeless

  • ha ha ha yeah dude, someone with some taste finaly!

  • jackson fucking sucks now.

fender owns them, they're worth dick now

  • Saw them live on Wednesday in Bristol, and they finished with this. Awesome.

  • i saw them last night . i was pissed cause they didnt play this glorious nightmare .

  • i work at a guitar store. people dont bother with 7 strings unless people specifically ASK for them.. otherwise they just sit around

who the fuck wants a baritone? nobody.. haha

although, some kid ordered a custom ESP 7 string.. dropped 3 grand on it too.. yikes

  • you work in a guitar store? lucky bastard! i work in a jewellers :( not very metal i know haha!

  • you work in a guitar store? awsome, answer me this question. im thinking about buying a new guitar but i really dont want one that is very popular because i would hate to play a guitar that everyone else is playing. im either going to get a schecter or jackson and they both feel comforatable to me, so tell me, which brand do you usually sell more of? it seems to me that everyone is getting schecter nowdays but im not too sure

  • meeeeh.. Jackson is owned by Fender these days (since april '04) and they've gone to complete dog shit. even the dinky's.

schecter isn't as popular as ESP. but they're both made in the same factories soo they might as well be the same.

in my opinion, i love ESP's and LTD's. i have an old H-1000 that i wouldn't trade for anything. but Schecter's are known for pheonominal action.

what exactly are you looking for? what do you play?

  • ah i see.

well well, im looking for something middle to light weight, alder body is almost a must. im not a HUGE fan of thick necks (i have pretty small hands) and im aware that schecters are thicker but i can adapt if they are far more superior. also, stock hardware and electronics dont matter because i plan on replacing whatever i get.

i play alot of lamb of god, black dahlia murder fast riffing stuff, and i recently started soloing.

    thanks for your help man

  • id say go with an LTD "H" or "MH" model then.

they usually come with tone pro bridges, duncan or EMG pickups and they USED TO to have sperzel locking heads.. but now they're just ESP brand.. essentially the same though.

the H models dont come with floyd's though, the MH does.

personally, I prefer ESP over Schecter 100%

my next guitar is going to be an EC-1000fr..

I KNOW there's no buisness having a floyd on a "les paul".. but it's just soooo perfecttttttttttt

  • Can't go wrong with ESP, but I've been strangely attracted to getting an Ibanez lately.

  • ugggh.. ew, i hate ibanez

  • A lot of guitarists who do not want to use 7 strings but want to downtune use baritone guitars. Wes Borland, Head (for his solo album) , Brian Wilson, Johnny Cash and a lot of others. I would use a baritone, but the pricing is insane. I just get a guitar with a 25.5" scale because that's the nearest to a 27" baritone scale.

  • cant ever go wrong with an iceman imo

  • i would TOTALLY take a sam totman signiture.. it's just an iceman with a floyd.. hahahaha ..and a true floyd at that, i think, not that weird edge(?) bridge that ibanez invented. which isnt actually all that bad.

and what? Munky AND Head have their own sig models, the K7 (guess why they call it that??) i dont know about borland though..

  • you sure can.

  • wow. I wish i was there to hear it live for the first time. Before it was out on cd too! shit i wouldnt mind dying in the mosh pit

  • Sick breakdown!

  • best band to rock out to in a dust suit

  • wow... an unearth video on youtube is not the place to be arguing about goddamn 7 string guitars and how uncommon or common they are...

    go play your guitar...

  • CORRECT!!!

  • hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @murph1point5 well if it was gonna be on a music video.......

this would be the oneall buz plays are 7's

  • I saw this vid in a promo for metal blade a few years ago, I knew they where gona get somewhere with that energy, And i was dead right!

  • is that an f-ing 7-string?

  • yeah they've always played 7s

  • Judas Priest and Saxon rulez!

  • i have the live dvd and it rules and yes they are really good live they have a awesome sound as well

  • these guys dont play detuned guitars...

they play 7-string guitars in standard tuning... the only reason why it sounds detuned is because they have the extra low B string... but hte guitar is still in standard tuning

  • there drummers and guitar players are good.. the breakdown was good.. but all metal core singers do sound alike

  • unearth is a great band live .. very tight and clear sounding.. there are better bands but fuck the haters

  • unearth is fucking insane...

  • every new metalcore band i hear, i like..

  • Wow all of you are fuckers, if you dont like it then don't fucking watch it and stop bitching

    UNEARTH RULES

  • look at those fucking retards doing their "hardcore dancing". They look like their having a synchronized seizure... fucking losers... that said, these guys ARE pretty tight live

  • Cunts.

  • Unearth is the best XD

  • Best band ever motherfuckers lml

  • if you had to really break it down into subgenres of metal,i'd say they would probably fall into the new wave of american heavy metal.

i haven't seen them live yet,but an unearth show would be pretty damn rowdy.

  • isnt this in the rock at tucson az....i was there dude....sick show i lost my hat in the mosh....the audio sucks in this.....must have been way to loud....sounds nothin like them.....that or lots of drugs....haha

  • this is actually one of the best bands live....and yes the sound quality is alot of the time bad at shows, ur never gonna have it perfect...but i disagree w/ "sounds nothin like them" its pretty close, compared to ALOT of bands.

  • Why would u post u love a shity emo band and say this band sucks.U have no life,go cutt ur wrist and listen to ur emo bullshit

  • this is probabily the best band ever LIFE.

  • omg are those mcr gays or something! they have fans everywhere! hate it

  • u people are all idiots i dont know why you bother commenting negatively it doesnt make you tough if you dont like it dont watch it

  • fuck emo and everything about it

  • are you fucking STPUID? unearth = metalcore/metal, mcr = gay emo bullshit....mcr is NOTHING in ANY way like unearth, i dont mean to sound like a dick, but seriously....mcr is related to silverstein or something....

  • ....comformist? are you fucking emo...?...wow, no comment....and yes there are many fans of unearth because we are obviosly looking them up to see their videos, please...never compare mcr to metal core again.

  • i agree with you on the part about them being like other bands in that they have a really downtuned, chuggy sound. but they do mix it up with the guitars a bit. and the downtuned thing is just a metal thing, i guess. not many metal/metalcore/whatever genre you want to call it bands use only high pitched guitars. and i suppose you could say MCR is a Queen rip off, and im not advocating MCR at all, but if you really look at it, it's near impossible to not rip off something from past bands.

  • just to let you know they don't actually down tune, they use 7 strings.. in standard.

  • Still they're stepping on bass player playground... The low B is the same on the second fret of the A string on a bass. The seven string is somewhat the in the race for downtuning. Look, the guys in meshuggah, They thought about having a bass only record. Until someone stepped in with the idea of an 8 string guitar. Which is pretty damn close to a shortscale bass. I mean if it's not down tuning then i don't know what it is. Good try on making me think that a 7 string is something really common.

  • true, but down tuning generally implies something like Drop D or C etc which they don't play in

  • in the new unearth album they have 2 songs with 8s haha

  • do i look like i give a fuck ? it still sound the same only it's a fourth lower...

  • jeez aren't you a little bitch

  • No! i am proudly a dick! And i strongly believe that alot of the metalcore/deathcore scene is dead dried out and it's waiting for something wild. With a few notable exception, it's mainly along the basic structure of: verse and chorus fillers until 1 minute low tuned chug chug breakdown and then chorus until the end. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the setlist.

  • seven strings are really common dippy. 8 strings are pretty rare.

  • Does every single newbie guitarist has a seven string? No. If i walk in a local music store or a pawnshop do i see a wall full of 7 stringers? No. Conclusion is: it's still somewhat of an odd ball thing.

  • you don't see them in pawn shops because typically, the people who buy them know what they're doing with it. i'm a newbie and i literally just bought a 7 string yesterday and i'm in love with it and couldn't be happier. conclusion: 7 strings aren't all that oddball. dippy.

  • your just a single newbie... still i don't see walls of 7 strings in the nearby local shop. I got to ask for of it... I've seen a few five string bass, some e drums, dj gear and an ampeg guitar amp (yeah, ampeg makes guitar amp) not a single seven string yet... either i got to get my glasses right or it's still uncommon. Btw when i think common i think strat copy common not a good 40% percent of guitar players population has own or played seven strings.

  • yeah, maybe you need to get your glasses fixed. go to guitar center. they have walls of 7-strings. i never said they were as common as 6-strings, but they're nowhere near as "oddball" as you may believe. good luck in life, dude.

  • i'm nowhere near a guitar center... the closest music gear shop is it's small town almost one manned one. If they where that common this shop would have at least one on display... which it usually doesn't.

  • well, i'm not trying to be a dick and argue with you. just saying they're not rare. if a guitar center is that far, pull out a credit card and order one online. go to musiciansfriend . com. they have plenty. :)

  • and if i don't care about buying one. My point was, if was that common i would be able to find one everywhere even in the smallest shops. It's like a 5-6+ strings or fretless bass. There's a niche for that kind of tool. you can expect to see someone play it but you'll see a 4 string fretted bass more often. anyway this turn into a who has the last word contest... and i'm losing i guess

  • i'm not going to sit here and try to win any kind of argument or "contest". you have your opinion and i have mine. we're just going to have to agree to disagree. small shops only carry the most "sellable" items as they don't want to waste their money. small shops are a dime a dozen, as are 6 strings. 7 strings aren't as common as 6 strings, but they are not rare (5 string basses aren't rare either. fretless basses are more rare than 5 strings). that's my point. agree to disagree. later.

  • How can using a 7 string be considered "down tuning" if you arent tuning anything down? and yes 7 strings are actually common, and becoming even more common as time goes on. You have artists such as Steve Vai, George Lynch, Trivium, Korn,Stephen Carpenter of Deftones,Rusty Cooley, the list goes on and on.

It's just a wider range of notes. Nothing more.

  • Yeah keep the names dropping, not because someone famous that they're counting for more. i'm just looking for sheer numbers of propagation and a proof that my aunt or girlfriend wouldn't not ask why my guitar has 7 not 6 strings, not: "Oh! there's the nevermore guys and some swedish dudes that make some sick polyryhtmic phrasing. They are using 7 and 8 strings guitar so it's common."

Downtuning implies playing below E standard. How do you achieve? Add a strings or restring with thicker gauges.

  • Dude this is NOT an emo band at all... I don't want to fall into the genre subject but believe it's not emo... you can call it metalcore o hardcore or modern metal or whatever but not emo.

  • I stage dove to this song, and got to sing some of it with Ken it was fickin sick

  • i cant belive mike justian left

  • i cant belive mike justian left

  • i like how i punched a kid in the face in this video. ahh gotta love the downtown

  • Seen these guys about a week ago, fuckin sick set

  • i cant belive the drummer left the band

  • theses guys are amazing live...

  • word

  • why is it that on every goddamn metal video a couple of losers have to fucking ruin it by arguing over if the band is a type of genre. you sound like a couple of 10 yr olds arguing over a fucking candy bar. stop whining and just enjoy it.

  • so damn true man :P

  • Got to see these guys in concert in the last year or so. They sound fucking incredible and the light shows rock!

  • come back to montreal you fucking kick ass

  • they're not metalcore...

  • then WTF are they?!?!?!?!

  • they're a mix of hardcore and metal so it does fall into metalcore. even though its just a sub-genre.

  • Who cares what they are

The fact is that they are awesome!

  • Hardcore almost always has whiny singing chorus's so they aren't hardcore

  • unearth is by far the best metalcore band...

  • ken susi <3 <3

  • anyway they playing hard and one of the best metal band now and forever

  • sick tune!

  • definitely one the best hardcore metal bands out there. great thing is theyre beginning to play more metal stuff these days.

  • chandlerblancaflor-

unearth does not have the best break downs..if you want to hear great break downs listen to August Burns Red!!!!

  • too bad that now they play heavy metal and are inspired in Iron Maiden...

  • wat r u talking about. idiot.

  • fuckin asshole, go to myspace and take a look into their description about the band.

  • too bad the guitarist has an underoath shirt....they kinda suck

  • oh stop, music is music no matter how u look at it, u probably couldnt even pick up a guitar and even if u did u dont have the mental coherence to put things forth. u cant judge music u have to embrace it, music is music no matter how u look at it. dzornick.

  • music is music? so anything is good? c'mon.

what does playing guitar have to do with anything? thats like when i was kid and if i takled shit about a sports player someone would say "he's better than you" yeah no shit

  • underoath is pussy metal

i hate christian rock!!!!!!!!! is like metal needs redemption, come on dude? its the most violent most vulgar most EVIL music genre why the fuck are we gonna sugarcoat it? so pussy lil kids huave momy's aproval? for record sales? im glad unearth isnt like that and to that top coment iron maiden is metal!!!!!!!!!

  • of course iron maiden is metal.

  • they do

  • i just saw these cats with darkest hour and august burns red and it was one of the best shows ive ever seen
