Check your ground, if you have a bad ground it will pull more than it needs to compensate. I had the same thing after i fixed mine my 2000 watt mono d brutus barely dimmed my lights
@deerhunter7m My ground is fine. Believe me, it was one of the first things I checked. I've since upgraded two of the big 3 and I've put a yellow top inside. So life's better nowadays.
first you should tighten your screws to your license plate soo it dont sound like shit like it currently does. also throw whatever junk battery your using away wal-marts 39.95 batteries arnt going to keep your lights from flickering, power caps aftermarket alternators (or ghetto it up and use a spare battery in the trunk as a power cap) are all good starts for fixing that problem.
@snazzzledazzzle 1) I was using a stock car battery. Not a 40 dollar piece of shit wal-mart battery.
2) I'm not getting a cap. They only help a marginal amount.
3) The license plate is as tight as it can get. It's not the license plate. It's loose body panels under the car.
4) And as N1K356 said, the ghetto way would be getting a cap. A real audio enthusiast would go with a Yellow top in the back and up front. Not a spare battery.
Hey man, I have a simular unit to this. Question..On my unit, in order to adjust the Highs, Mids And Lows for the front, rears, and subs..it's by frequency through the crossover...or the "x-over". Is yours like that too? Also, is there like a "loud" adjustment on these units? Mine sound really clear, but it's like it completely lacks power! I already turned the "gain" up on all three manual bands which helped a little, but it still doesn't move my Fosgate door speakers or my Cerwin Vega 6X9's!!
@Rolladoedoe two out of the three thus far. Both of them ground wires. 4 gauge on top of the stock wire as well. I'm probably going to have to get someone to do my power wire for me...I'm lacking the tools to get to my alternator.
do you drive like a honda crv? cause im getting this sub and was wondering if my lights will dim in my explorer its a v6 4.0L so will i be good without a capacitor or anything?
It doesn't exactly matter how big your engine is. It's more about your alternator and battery(s) as well as wiring, than anything. If you got an alternator at around the 100 amp mark with a fair battery, you should be fine.
The reason my lights dimmed so much in this song, is because I had a really shitty and old stock battery, and my alternator is an ancient (original) 95 amp one. I finally got around to upgrading two of the big 3 wires as well as my battery which has reduced most of the dimming, but I still get some dimming issues. My alternator is probably going to be one of the next 4 upgrades in my car.
@burtonair57 ford explorers will usually have a stock 95A or 130A alternator. if its the 130 then youll be fune w/o a cap. but if u do get dimming do the big three b4 u go out and buy a secong batt or cap.
@agonz91 What this guy said! :D 130A is more than enough to keep a battery powering a 9104D amp happy. Even without doing the big three, get the RPM up to something like, oh...1500-2000 RPM and that'll generally pump the full output of the alt to the battery. Idling...you'll probably get 60 or so amps. If you have the 130.
@flickurbic187 it's definitely not a good thing for the amp. To many times and amp goes poof....eventually. I'd suggest you adjust your gains. I've adjusted mine since this video and only on the longest deepest sustained basslines do I drop to 9 or lower. Lately, I've been blowing fuses left and right. Time to upgrade to 80s.
i ant bein a dick or or anythin but showin but when u show off ur lights dimmin and ur car rattles like a bitch then u need 2 fix that lol ur system sounds good tho
@toucandan8989 Haha, I've got one part of the problem fixed. I put a yellow top in today. If I ever get around to it, I'll get my hands either second skin, or dynamat. :D
@toucandan8989 When I do that, I'm probably going to flip my box to face the back. But I'm not going to do that until I get my new amp, subs, wiring, and box. Haha.
@SSchweer It's an old 95 amp. I'm looking for a 120+ amp one but I'm having a hard time on that front. Not many companies make them, and if they do, they're expensive as hell.
a capacitor will fix the dimming problem right up, soundstream has a thing called a capcell that is a combo of both a cap and a OEM batteryy... Cheack it outtt
They're broken in....I know that much and I've never gauged how far away I can be heard. All I know is, that it rocks the shit out of my house when I roll up and run inside to get something. Lol. And I have them wired to 1-ohm. Looking forward to getting my new subs and amp next year. \o/ Autotek SM1-1500 and two Fi SSD 12s.
all you need to do if the car is running and you have dimming, get a 5 farad capacitor and run at least 4 guage wire for your power and ground. i have the same car and as long as you have a cap your fine. I have a PA BAMF 4000/1 and 2 cerwin vega vmax 12's drawing close to 100 amps constant and a 5 farad cap eliminates the dimming issue.
Ya dude true that. Im trying to concentrate on school more and trying to find a job but the car audio industry keeps side tracking me. Its such an obsession!
Yeah, school is definitely more important to me at the moment. If I really want the big 3 done right now, I'll drop it off at a local shop so they can do it right and get it done fast.
definatly do the big 3 but if you cant afford all that rite now go for a decent cap, they do help even though people say they dont its just they dont understand wtf they are really for
A new amp is out of the question for the moment. Don't have the cash at the moment. Although next year when I get some more cash, I'm going to upgrade my system. Finally settled on two new subs and an amp. Hopefully I can get that shit next year. :D
Hahah...yeah. It's not a big problem, and to be honest, 3/4s of the time, I don't listen to my system as loud as it can go. The other 1/4 is when I'm recording vids of it or if I'm doing a demo for my friends.
I love your set up!I I been viewing ya videos. my old set was
1 Kenwood KAC-9104D ( I returned it cuz it kept overheating like crazy )
2 Kenwood KFC-W3011 12" subs my new set up is pretty basic as my last
1 Kicker zx750.1
2 Kicker CVR 12" subs
2 Type R 61/2 speakers
2 Type R 6x9 speakers
Headunit is the Alpine 9884
But I added a Tsunami 1.2 cap and upgraded my battery to a diehard platinum i just get alil tiny dim. I'm gonna add a crossover in the near future and get a Double din DVD player.
I'm considering getting a RF 360.2 processor to help make my shit sound better. Although I might not need it. Considering getting a RF T2000, a new box, and two 12" Fi Q's, with a new battery and the big 3 done. Maybe an alt, but I don't think I'm going to go that far with it...yet.
Like I said, I like domestic cars, but I prefer imports. I like pretty much any kind of car, but you'll most likely find me in an import before a domestic car
holy shit!! and only on 900w!! but a custom shop said with 0 guage you dont need to be puttin that much mower through the car, amps and all that. idk if it true. try 4 guage or 2 guage. i got 4 guage. and a good bat like a redtop or yellow top.
I've got 4 gauge in it now, with stock negative wires. Only aftermarket wiring I have is the, battery to amp and amp to frame wires. Everything else is stock. Need to get my hands on some more 4 gauge and finish the job.
don't think it's necessary...for some reason. Lol. For a car that's 11 years old, they're gonna wait for something to break before changing/replacing anything.
