Thanks for the memories! I loved a lot of these shows but had (thankfully) forgotten the TERRIBLE "The Good Guys". It was worse than "Blondie"---& THAT'S saying something.
@dandydonaldo I guess he had to get the taste out of his mouth by doing it for Felix and Oscar on THE ODD COUPLE, then Fred and Lamont on SANFORD & SON.
Despite what the preview of "MAYBERRY R.F.D." seems to be inferring, Andy Griffith was NOT a regular cast member- "Andy Taylor" hung around for a few weeks after the first episode {featuring his wedding to "Helen Crump"}, then moved on. The real star was Ken Berry's "Sam Jones", who'd been introduced the previous season during the final episodes of "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" [scenes of some of those segments are in the preview] because Andy wanted him to take over his series {with a new title}...
@fromthesidelines I wonder if Andy had difficulty juggling those final appearances with his making the feature film ANGEL IN MY POCKET. His wife in that was played by Lee Meriwether, who was subsequently cast as his wife in THE NEW ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW (mid-season replacement for the his ill-suited HEADMASTER portrayal).
This preview was sent to CBS affiliates, and shown locally (at various times) on each station the week before the new season began. It was designed so that it could be shown as a full half-hour special- or the individual previews of each new show could be "lifted" from this special, and telecast separately, whenever there was time to fill. Take note there's at least one preview missing from this print- "THE DORIS DAY SHOW", which lasted five seasons amid various cast and format changes.
@fromthesidelines I don't think they had much of anything ready from DORIS DAY yet..she only found out her husband/manager Marty Melcher committed her to it after his death in early 1968. On top of this, the woman who had been the #1 box-office attraction just a few years before was now $500,000 in debt. Doing the show paid that off and funded a successful lawsuit against the people whom Melcher let put her money into bad investments.
Well Mayberry R.F.D. was cancelled with the rest of the farm shows.

The narrator for the various previews is veteran radio/TV/movie trailer announcer Art Gilmore.
