Keyboard Composition II on Casio WK3300

Can you do phrase sampling then loop a single phrase indefinitely or are you limited to recording something for the entirety of the song and initiating it during further track recording?

@JonDeth: Nahh! This is a very basic keyboard, no intricacies as far as recording goes. Phrase sampling, looping and the like are foreign to this inexpensive work station. The most I have seen on one of these keyboards that comes anything close to phrase sampling was a $200 Yamaha in which you record your phrase on layer track and then loop. Even then you'd have to super good at hitting your stop button at then end of the phrase of each track recording. So recording for entirety is right on.

Just means I'll have to record into my PC and create loops via software.

I really got it for the voices and effects anyway which are pretty impressive at this cost.

Have u tried to compose a more funky song? I had some fun composing a song on my own casio wk-3300 which was kind of a funky fusion jazz version with slap bass and brass sounds lol I had to speed it up before it sound good lol. Although I did not dare to put it on youtube, I noticed I have practice a lot before I dare to put my compositions on here.

@lititania, Not yet, I just recently learned some standard jazz chords, a painful process for me since I play everything by ear, meaning I don't play anything standard just what feels good at the time. As much as I enjoy fusion jazz, I am listening to more smooth piano jazz. The more you play of course the better you will be.

I have one, te sound is good! but It's bad that you only can record 5 songs in the song memory, you can buy a memory card, but when you want to listen to the songs you most load them back to the keyboard... It's one thing CASIO can make better

This keyboard is good choice. I also have a KORG PA 60, but I use it only for playing in cafes and restaurants... Casio is for home use, but you can play with it even on smaller concerts...

I own wk-3300. I have had the keyboard for 1,5 years now. I bought it because of the organ sounds (and cheap price :) ). With external mixer+amplifier this instrument is worth its price. It is possible to make the whole room vibrate (and i am not talking about a small apartment here). Also the effects are sufficient for me. It is possible to expand the instrument (sound bank), but it is not very comfortable. Casio should release more sounds for WK-3300 than currently available from website.

Thanks for your email, I already bought WK3300last Christmas as my Christmas present, it cost me about S$899.00.

My teacher has shown me the way to record whatever you play on the keyboard as MIDI without using any computer, I still haven't familiarise the method yet. so far Midi is enough for me fo use as my phone ringtone.

It depends of what u want to use the keyboard for and how much u willing to pay for it. I got the wk3300 coz it has an on-board mixer, sound quality and lots of mordern beats. One can do a lot with the keyboard... do some googling on both modals, see if they've the features that you are looking for. But to answer your question in my opinion the wk3300 is definitely better.

I have Casio WK1800 for 2+ years and learnt keyboard for almost 3 years, thought of buying WK-3300 or WK-3800 as my Christmas present.

Can I know if I play any song to record it, can I use it as ringtone? I always record down all the songs I learnt but only able to save it in the disc and only can play it on the keyboard. I hope WK3300 or WK3800 can record and play it on my PC (without using any software), can anyone advise me?

My keyboard saves my compositions in the format .ckf which is only meaninful to a Casio Keyboard. So to get a ring tone you'll need to convert your songs into Midi or .MP3 format. Means you've to hook your keyboard to some recorder that records using one or both formats. You can have your keyboard as an an audio input to your computer (you might need some hardware between your keyboard and computer) and get software that records sounds in midi/mp3 and record as the music plays.

Dude don't sweat it, I actually do like constructive criticism, it definitely gives a different perspective and believe it or not I actually liked yours it made me listen to the composition again to hear classical part. I have zero training in music. One day I walked into a Best Buy, tapped on a keyboard and next it was sitting in my living room. I've been a playing fool ever since. I could pick up a discipline and stick to it but men, do I hate structure.

Try to put everything you hear in category, is really boring... But what has already been created has its name... If it shakes, if it rocks, if it make us to dance... pop, techno, rock! When we try to create something new, mixing the sounds, I don't feel like it shouldn't happen, I play keyboard too, and I do this kind of stuff a lot, a play for fun, because I like it and I don't about what peoples think or say...

I hate it when people try to fit every piece of music they hear into some genre or category, it's boring as hell. How in the world does one come up with something new if we all have to play by John Doe's rules? Was I composing for radio, I'd probably have to make the piece Blues all the way coz dare put a spin and it all quickly goes to hell in a hand basket. The real niche of Youtube is that you can actually say something in the way you want to as long as you don't get thrown out.

I just didn't like how it ends, not because of your technique, I was just enjoying the music, and suddenly, the finish seemed to not follow as I would like to hear!
