My grandfather, JUAN L. MONREAL, was a WORLD WAR II Veteran. He was a brave Filipino soldier. He survived the Death March at Bataan. He is now 95 years old. My grandfather is kinda weak already. He became the cook for the Japs but he never have forgotton his fellow soldiers who are in prison. He gives them food everynight while the Japs are asleep. True hero..We will not forget his bravery and he will be a part of our country's history, forever...

I can remember as kid in the 1980's when there were enough of the 'Battlin' Bastards of Bataan' around to march in the New Mexico State Fair in a platoon-sized element. I was too young to understand how amazing those guys were or what a miracle it was that they even survived, let alone were in good enough shape to march a couple miles in a parade. Most of them had to have been at least in their mid sixties at that time even! Those guys are truly my heroes.
