@popstarfreas NTFS, I've never come across that before... Strange! Sorry buddy I can't help you, only thing I can suggest is try all different USB ports :)
@MikeBellini well thanks anyway... i managed to find a way to make it do it but it doesn't seem the same. i reformatted it to NTFS and its faster than it was on FAT32 but still not the same :( but thanks anyway :)
@iModpsp Well if you're doing some gaming or using a lot of programs simultaneously then that extra amount of "virtual RAM" could help your processor work more efficiently and improve overall performance.
Fantastic guide really cleared some things up for me. I just bought 2 1TB Toshiba External Harddrives for a bargin price and this option popped up. think i'm gonna spare a few gigabytes to this process and I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for the great guide
Yes it would help, if your say playing a game and need more then 2GB of ram at some point instead of your pc going to slow page file it will use the flash drive which is 80-100 times faster then page file.
urm, if you had 4 GB of RAM on a 64 bit os and you used a 1 GB memory stick with ready boost?
effectively yes, BUT not as good as actual RAM and it would not be displayed in e.g task manager that you had 5 GB of RAM :) Not much point anyway really, as you have 4GB of actual RAM :P
lol i can imagine a USB external hard drive.. 1 terabyte of RAM.. thats hax ;).
i didnt really think about using this feature. but i found it was easy to use, and i thought that its a one time thing like if i use it once then i can not get the memory back onto my USB. LIES. so now im using a 4gb mini sd card. ;). it actually does feel somewhat faster. i havent tried a game yet though. good shit from windows.
sometimes the difference is not noticable, all depends on how much RAM your computer has already and how much RAM the program you are using requires :)
My 4GB USB flash drive use to work with readyboost now it keeps saying that it wont work the flashdrive works find its only a week old and everytime I try to format it it still says it wont work with readyboost WTF please help
..has anyone tried ready boost with an eSATAconnection on solid state drive or esata hhd enclosure containing Compact flash ????(or any other fast flash memory )
When i put my 2 GB stick in it says :"This device has no performance skills required to increase the speed of the system" please answer with a message
I got 8gb on memory stick will it make a great effect on gaming?

So is this like ram? does 4gb make it faster? kuz thats what my thummb drive is
iModpsp 1 year ago
@iModpsp Speed increase varies on the amount of RAM you already have, if you don't have much then it will make a large difference, and vice versa.
MikeBellini 1 year ago
@MikeBellini my ram originaly on my computer is 2gb

Once I allocate this portion of my USB flash drive, could I "de-allocate" the portion of the drive if I didn't want to keep it? Or is this permanent?
Mpntball2012 1 year ago
@Mpntball2012 You can de-allocate using the same process in the options menu, or you can manually delete the ready boost file on the memory stick
MikeBellini 1 year ago
so now, technically my ram is like 9GB. I originally had 8 with my quadcore lol

my laptop has 2gb of ram, 32bit vista basic if i used a few of my 2GB memory sticks would it boost the performance a lot?

my vista only got 2gn of ram....
would using the whole of a 256mb stick make a difference?
plz reply
D07SaBah 2 years ago
I dont think you can use 256mb, To use ready boost you need more than 256mb e.g a 512Mb stick etc.
MikeBellini 2 years ago
i used a 16gb usb, now im using 4090mb for ram. is that good?
johnrambo619 2 years ago
if you have 4gb of RAM then you dont really need to use Ready Boost :P
was there a noticable difference when you used the 16gb usb?
MikeBellini 2 years ago
yeah, a little only.

So if I have 4 GB on a 64 bit OS, which I do.. and I used this, it would give me 5GB? Or would it matter?
