  • I got 8gb on memory stick will it make a great effect on gaming?

  • help me.... my usb was running fine on ready boost when i need to format it... now it says that it isn't fast enough... what do i doooo??:(

  • @popstarfreas Try formatting it again, but in a different format :)

  • @MikeBellini I FORMATED it in all the ways there is but still no luck

  • @MikeBellini what is your usb's file system?

  • @popstarfreas NTFS, I've never come across that before... Strange! Sorry buddy I can't help you, only thing I can suggest is try all different USB ports :)

  • @MikeBellini well thanks anyway... i managed to find a way to make it do it but it doesn't seem the same. i reformatted it to NTFS and its faster than it was on FAT32 but still not the same :( but thanks anyway :)

  • @popstarfreas No worries mate, shout if you need help with anything else, I'll try my best to help.

  • omfg is this a Contra music remix

  • So is this like ram? does 4gb make it faster? kuz thats what my thummb drive is

  • @iModpsp Speed increase varies on the amount of RAM you already have, if you don't have much then it will make a large difference, and vice versa.

  • @MikeBellini my ram originaly on my computer is 2gb

  • @iModpsp Well if you're doing some gaming or using a lot of programs simultaneously then that extra amount of "virtual RAM" could help your processor work more efficiently and improve overall performance.

  • @PaintballGremlin go to my computer and right click on the device, then if its compatable, then there will be a tab saying "Ready Boost"

  • well i dont get autoplay so what now?

  • @PaintballGremlin go to Computer,right-click at where your memory stick come, then click on properties. At there u will find ReadyBoost tabs

  • Ok. So if i allocate 2 gigabytes for ready boost will i get 2 more gb of ram?

  • @ExplodingBombchus Effectively :P but not literally :)

  • nice :)

  • when i plug in my usb i get a ,essage saying sysmain is disabled d how do i turn tht on?

  • Once I allocate this portion of my USB flash drive, could I "de-allocate" the portion of the drive if I didn't want to keep it? Or is this permanent?

  • @Mpntball2012 You can de-allocate using the same process in the options menu, or you can manually delete the ready boost file on the memory stick

  • so now, technically my ram is like 9GB. I originally had 8 with my quadcore lol

  • @DantendoDS Show off :P

  • @MikeBellini daww sorry XD;

  • will the file delete itself, if i deselect the boost ready ? :)

  • @kosec321 Yep :) If not, delete it yourself :)

  • @MikeBellini thanks :)

  • thanks! helped lots

  • Fantastic guide really cleared some things up for me. I just bought 2 1TB Toshiba External Harddrives for a bargin price and this option popped up. think i'm gonna spare a few gigabytes to this process and I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for the great guide

  • my laptop has 2gb of ram, 32bit vista basic if i used a few of my 2GB memory sticks would it boost the performance a lot?

  • Yes it would help, if your say playing a game and need more then 2GB of ram at some point instead of your pc going to slow page file it will use the flash drive which is 80-100 times faster then page file.

  • my vista only got 2gn of ram....

would using the whole of a 256mb stick make a difference?

    plz reply

  • I dont think you can use 256mb, To use ready boost you need more than 256mb e.g a 512Mb stick etc.

  • i used a 16gb usb, now im using 4090mb for ram. is that good?

  • if you have 4gb of RAM then you dont really need to use Ready Boost :P

was there a noticable difference when you used the 16gb usb?

  • yeah, a little only.

  • urm, if you had 4 GB of RAM on a 64 bit os and you used a 1 GB memory stick with ready boost?

effectively yes, BUT not as good as actual RAM and it would not be displayed in e.g task manager that you had 5 GB of RAM :) Not much point anyway really, as you have 4GB of actual RAM :P

  • So if I have 4 GB on a 64 bit OS, which I do.. and I used this, it would give me 5GB? Or would it matter?

  • hey, is it possible to use external harddrives for this trick also?:O put mine to use :P

also, when i stop using my memoery stick as the extra RAM, do i need to do anything to cancel it?

  • lol i can imagine a USB external hard drive.. 1 terabyte of RAM.. thats hax ;).

i didnt really think about using this feature. but i found it was easy to use, and i thought that its a one time thing like if i use it once then i can not get the memory back onto my USB. LIES. so now im using a 4gb mini sd card. ;). it actually does feel somewhat faster. i havent tried a game yet though. good shit from windows.

  • heh, awesome :P haha, a terabyte! imagine it! :') give it a go! lemme know what happens! :P though i dont think its possible :/

  • sometimes the difference is not noticable, all depends on how much RAM your computer has already and how much RAM the program you are using requires :)

  • im using a 2gb one but i see no difference im trying to play combat arms

  • Is this free to use?

  • It comes WITH windows vista! o.0

  • not sure mate, go search some forums.

  • My 4GB USB flash drive use to work with readyboost now it keeps saying that it wont work the flashdrive works find its only a week old and everytime I try to format it it still says it wont work with readyboost WTF please help

  • dude, does this feture really help and what does it do exactly?

  • yes it does help with the general speed of your computer, very good for when your playing games on your computer aswell.

  • kk, tanx

  • ..has anyone tried ready boost with an eSATAconnection on solid state drive or esata hhd enclosure containing Compact flash ????(or any other fast flash memory )

    :)

  • uhm.. but im not playing :p I have an 250 GB hardrive. Vista Home premium, 2GHz n 2GB ram

  • well then there is no point in you using it anyway :P lol

  • well then there is not much point in you using your memory stick for more RAM unless your using some REALLY intense games lol :D

  • 2GB (;

  • uhm..i am stupid x'D what is USB 2?:p

  • nvm, u probably do. ermmm, i dnt know, how much RAM does your computer have already??? :)

  • When i put my 2 GB stick in it says :"This device has no performance skills required to increase the speed of the system" please answer with a message

  • Does that USB port and memory stick have USB 2.0?

  • can i use 2 or more memory sticks

  • Im not too sure, but you can give it a try :)

  • the same way u turned on Windows Ready Boost but click on "Do Not Use This Device" :D

  • i need help, im using my 2gb san cruzer flas drive and i used up the whole thing but now i need it, how do i quit ready boost??

  • would you say it would be a good idea for me to get ready boost as my ram is only 524 megabites?? would it make a big difference? thanks.

  • It would certainly speed up your computer :)

  • good for you, my computer has 8 :)

  • maybe your computer has alot of ram already. Like my Laptop :)

  • my laptop has 4gb with out readyboost

  • i do this on my usb (2gb) and it doesnt do much at all!

  • how do you delete it?

  • the same way u activated it, just click on do not use :)
