@qwerty9156 Yes it will work on Windows 7 64-bit. It being legal is still up for debate, but technically bypassing copyright protection is still illegal.
@dino8192 Yup, when you're in HandBrake, go to the subtitles tab, select the language you want the subtitles to be in, select "burned in" then click "add". This will put those subtitles in your mp4 file.
@dino8192 Just found something else out. You'll want to use the "burn in" method if you are going to an iPod, but you you want a "soft" subtitle, where you can choose whether or not they are displayed, don't check "burn in"
This seemed to be working so far, I was doing something wrong and I think it was that the two programs I had before I was running backwards and not decrypting first then running handbrake . I didn't know it couldn't get it from the dvd. Thanks . I will see soon if it worked. Oh and when I got it to work before with another program there were subtitles and stupid watermarks
@Megzm6 If you're using a Mac, I've actually heard that handbrake can produce an .mp4 file directly from a dvd without decrypting. Can anyone confirm that? With DVD Decrypter and Handbrake, you won't get any of the annoying watermarks and subtitles. I searched a long time to find the best way to get this done.
@ThePierski Ya so these two programs you have listed worked for me perfectly . I am running windows 7. So far so good. I was able to get Nacho Libre on there and no annoying water mark or subtitles. Thanks for posting this.
also, when handbrake is dont downloading, it is at 100 percent but nothing pops up or anything. but when i go to close it, it says its still downloading somthing. Is it supposed to do it??
@pntball4life55 Are you trying to download the program, or are you encoding a video. If you're encoding a video, sometimes it will get to 100%, then it might say "muxing..." Even though it's says it's at 100%, it's still finishing up the video and it could take a while. Just let it sit there 'till it's all done.
Lol. I need help. I can do everything but the simpilest part. When i go into itunes and i say to open the movie. It does not copy the movie or anything. Please help. How can i get it onto itunes.
@pntball4life55 There are a few ways you can do it. Method one is to go to file>add file to library...then find the video and add it. Sometimes that doesn't work for some reason, so another was is to go to the video file (outside of iTunes) and right click on it, then go to open with>iTunes. One of the those methods should work to get it into iTunes for you.
@360flippything Ok, so it sounds like you have successfully got through the DVD Decrypter part? I just checked and since the software has been updated, the one you want to select under source is just labeled "Folder" now, instead of DVD TS Folder. Software does get updated, so how to videos might be slightly off, but their are close enough to figure it out.
@edwin71TOR Yup, decrypting does nothing to the actual DVD. It essentially copies the files off the DVD and removes the protection from them, so your DVD will play just fine in a normal DVD player after decrypting it.
@dino8192 Nope. If you notice, the bit rate in measure in kbps. The last two letters mean "per second", so the encoder keeps it at a specific bit rate per second. Your file will end up being larger than one that is shorter, but no need to increase the bit rate.
@MaverickWojo This can happen if you save it in too high quality. The iPod will only sync videos up to a certain quality. Your options are to save it in one of the iPod presets, if you did that and its not working, try right clicking on the file, and select "make iPod version". This will convert it to the right quality to be synced to the iPod. Also, make sure you have movies set to sync in the iPod settings
@Thesteamcake Has it worked with other disks? Some DVD's just won't work, for example, a couple dual layer dvds didn't work for me. If none of your DVD's work, then check for software and firmware updates for your DVD drive. It may just be that one DVD though.
i've had Handbrake for a while now but is dvddecrypter safe? last time I tried to get movies on my ipod I downloaded 'DVD43' and it didn't work and messed up my computer a bit.. dvddecrypter looks a bit better though, I might try it
@rileyjames12 You need to import it. It isn't going to show up automatically. You can either go to >file>>add file to library> or you can right click on the video file and go to "open with" and select iTunes. That should get it into the movies section. If it doesn't, just try it a couple of times.

do you know how to get subtitles onto movies?
for example, in defiance, they talk in russian a lot during the movie
would you know how to get the subtitles onto the downloaded version?

If i have a copied dvd (not original) can i copy strait from dvd to iphone using handbrake as it's alrdy decripted? Plz sum1 let me know.
evoviper1 1 year ago
@evoviper1 If the DVD has no copy protection (home movie or already been decrypted) then yes, handbrake can directly encode it to a video file.
