So the AP article that was calling Obama's campaigning window-dressing for the election was bang-on... you know, the one that Chunk was calling so biased and ridiculous. I think Obama is a fairly straight shooter, but he can't force the Repubs in congress to do a damn thing; the Dems in congress know it and so vote their best interests, not party-lines.
Also, complaining that in Jan 2009 when Dems got in power that they didn't do enough... did you totally forget the crisis? or it doesn't count?
Even the Democrat led Senate do not want to sign on to this failure of a bill. They did it when it was Stimulus 1, they aren't going to be fooled again.
The chicken little routine no longer works. Now let's see, who can we blame for this failure? That is what America does now, right? Blame!!!! That really gets you where you want to go.
So when I go into the polling booth, I have to choose between two parties. One party cares nothing about the middle class and the other party is feckless. I can vote for the feckless party and get a majority in both houses and the White House and they're still feckless. This is democracy?
@ladylordess What ??? You're criticizing them because they didn't bring resumes? lol How do you know there isn't an entrepreneur in the group? Besides, why is that an issue?
@dsgregg I'm criticizing them for showing the lack of a quality education. They should receive refunds! Majoring in Bongo's isn't really a great job choice. It is no wonder they are not being hired. Their failed education is showing, as they are on the wrong street. If a politician was "selling" America, Wall St. couldn't "buy". The problem is in DC.
If there was an entrepreneur in the group, they would be producing, creating, inventing, not whining about CAPITALISM while on an iPad.
@ladylordess No you weren't. You were not criticizing them for showing a lack of quality education. And FYI, many Americans have to get buy and eek out a living with the hand they were dealt and we all can't be "entrepreneur connected". And btw, I know many entrepreneurs that would make Thomas Jefferson cringe. They can't even start their lawn mowers.
You are right about one thing, the problem is in DC which was part of my original point. K street owns our political process.
@dsgregg If they are protesting on Wall Street, their education has failed them. That is obvious! As they are on the wrong street!!! We needed not be "entrepreneur connected", however it is the entrepreneur that creates the jobs, including the government jobs, as they wouldn't exist otherwise. Everyone has a place and a talent in this world. If you can start lawn mowers, good for you. Accept your place in life rather than whine about what others can do. However, who created the lawnmower!?
@ladylordess You are grossly overstating the contributions of entrepreneurs in "creating jobs". Many jobs are created by natural growth or other efforts to fill a demand from consumers. Yes there are an extremely small number of "real" entrepreneurs who created new products and companies but that is a very small part of the economy. Many jobs are created by R&D in corporations that lead to new products but those people are scientists and engineers.
@dsgregg Yes, natural growth and free markets. However, you need an entrepreneur to begin the ball rolling. Look at history and stop believing your capitalist hating union teachers. Do your own research.
An entrepreneur is the person who sees the demand and creates the market for the consumer to purchase it. Then competition takes over.
The R&D that goes on does so under a corporation that an Entrepreneur created.
@ladylordess No, you don't need an entrepreneur to get the ball rolling. You need some level of leadership but that often doesn't come from entrepreneurs. The internet is a good example. It was created by the military and commercialized by large and small business. You should do some research. You're wrong again by saying entrepreneurs creates a market. Many market entrants aren't really entrepreneurs but rather "me too" lackeys that can't start a lawn mower. Sad you just don't get it.
@dsgregg If you want to succeed, you do need an entrepreneur to get the ball rolling. Look at what has happened when our government tried to get the ball rolling, just playing venture capitalist. THEY FAILED with our money. There isn't any leadership there!! Entrepreneurs see the future and spend money wisely, unlike the government or the minions they hire, with our money. Entrepreneurs SEE the need and create the ability for their to be a market. Governments do not. Good Luck Mowing.
@ladylordess Its like you just don't get it. The government doesn't play venture capitalist in this county. What newspapers do you read? Can you read? Venture capital is used by the wealthy to help satisfy their greedy interests and a huge amount of it is wasted in ridiculous ventures that don't lead to anything but waste. Most new ventures fail and they use consumers money siphoned by their other businesses to pay for it.
@dsgregg You just don't get it. You don't know what a governments role begins and ends. You don't know what a venture capitalist does. You obviously do not know what crony capitalism is even when it is in your face. You will remain a fool and a brainwashed moron. There is no hope for drones such as yourself.
@ladylordess But I love kool-aid especially cherry. I like to drink it when I'm hangin with my uneducated homies. I'm glad someone else still uses the like "emperor has no clothes". I kind of like it. I used it recently to describe a phony baloney business person I knew. It soooooo fit this person. Oh, and I love it when you call me kiddo ... makes me feel young.
Marxist Obama and Nazi accomplice George Soros are succeeding in destroying the US economy. Obama has no job plan other than to squander tax money (like he already did) in a way that takes care of other left-wingers without creating jobs.
Obama wants to destroy our capitalist economy, and he is succeeding with popular support from left-wingers who are typically not the brightest people in society.
@Locos222 Thanks for volunteering to prove my point that followers of Obama are not bright. Only an un-bright person would insist that Obama intended to create jobs. LOL x 2
Because a two second research on my nick wouldnt produce loads of comments critical of Obama.
"un-bright"? Really? Its clear you have a very limited vocabulary. If you are going to try to insinuate that someone is less intelligent than you then its wise to use a word that communicates that and can be found in a common dictionary. Because when you dont and you just make up word with a un or anti in front it just makes you look like a retard.
Good God! Here we have the WORST PRESIDENT in US HISTORY after failing by spending a trillion on his last so-called stimulus which not only didn't gain a single job but lost millions of jobs! 2.4 million in fact since the day this community Organizer became president! Now after such a monumental failre, did he learn anything? Nope, his "new" plan is to now spend 1/2 trillion on the same nonsense! Yeah good work guy! With idiots like Obama running the country we are DOOMED!!
Actually the Dems and the Repugs at the service of the Banksters&Corp who want the American people to work for food like the Illegals and the reason they were let in the first place.
You had me until "CHINA." China does owe most of our debt. Now, when the US needs to borrow money, where do you think it goes to get it? Other countries? The UN? Some world bank? The IMF? No. The US Treasury borrows money and accrues debt by issuing and selling US Treasury Bonds, in effect, I.O.U.'s with the authority of the US Government. The EXACT same authority behind the Dollar itself. So most of our debt is actually to private investors.
Obama's "Job Bill" goes blah, blah, blah, blah, yak, yak, yak, blah, blah... The guy constantly waste time (correction) stalling for time, NOT! producing (squat) policy in favor of his constituents,.. To hear conservatives & democrats(names unknown) Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Ben Nelson (Neb.), and Jon Tester (Mont.) blocked the $447 jobs bill showing lack of support in his own party.., After signing extension on the Bush tax cuts its pathetic to see Obama kiss GOP dust every bill.
@excaliba360 ...,Your preaching to the choir friend.., your comment is evident by the DEM senators political geographic locations..., theoretically regardless how the 2008 presidential campaign went, the GOPpolicy has owned this democratic president..., And his democratic constituency have an distorted consciousness of all the political ground their manchurian candidate has giving the GOP... Obama's "For the good of the country bipartisan compromises & ideology" has betrayed his constituency...
how can he acuse specifically republicans of stalling congress when people in his own gang are against it? Surely those brilliant dems should all be rallying behind this flawless plan?
@excaliba360 You can criticize all you want about the Liberals. I'd love to see how an Independent would fare with a GOP majority in the House or the Senate. The problem is not President Obama or the Democrats. The problem is an entrenched Republican party that refuses to compromise...not surprising considering most, if not all, are bought and paid by the corporate lobbies.
Of course they fold, I agree this was all just polotical postering by Obama, pretending to be a real democrat then fold because the republicans stood their ground...bullshit.
@wolfwing1 How is he folding...The Prez just presented a plan he can't bring a bill to the floor- DAMN SOME OF YALL NEED TO GO BACK TO CIVICS CLASS.....America is only 20% liberal 30% conservative by the best estimates hence EVERY president has always governed from the center right or left...but when the other dems and libs are sitting on there ass the what are you expecting him to do...
@excaliba360 Do what the republicans would have done when they had the same problem push and force the hand, there are ways to gt them to change their minds, why is it that only the republicans get to stand their ground and expect the democrats to give into everything they demand. Have a backbone.
@wolfwing1 I agree 100% But the Prez has to have the team of Dems behind him...if the congress was more liberal an pushing those bills and supporting those causes but If im the prez and I look behind me an nobody is standing there..its kinda hard to lead
@excaliba360 I agree, but I would rather he try to fight and fail then to never do it. And funny he only shows this big backbone now right before election as if this isn't just him trying to appear to be liberal, knowing full well it would fail.
@wolfwing1 I know the dems would call him out on it if he was not fighting..I think Campaign Obama is take it to the ppl Obama he has mentioned this before that he needed to take all of the fights to the ppl instead of meetings with congress an etc...thats his issue I believe he sees that now...and I care not if it has anything to do with it being election season I know that every 2term Prez Got alot done for there base so Im voting for him again
I said for rich people. And even so, poor people who dont pay federal income tax still pay payroll taxes, sales tax, property tax etc.
I find it pretty funny that people like you, who are seemingly opposed to any taxation, are suddenly in favor of taxing lower income families as an alternative to simply letting the Bush tax cuts expire for the wealthy as the policy was intended.
Actually, the US economy has always been measured by growth...which we had rather consistently until GWB's term. It didnt help that he gave tax cuts to people that didnt need it right before engaging in 2 wars. Ya those tax cuts for the rich which were supposed to create jobs...ya that worked great...the situation really "demanded" that
two can play inept Obowma's games from his play book used to defend Stimuls Bill, ya know
Bush tax cuts actually SAVED a lot of jobs that would have been lost and the economy could have been much worse w/o those cuts
there ya go!
seriously, do you believe that Countries attain wealth and economic power by soaking rich people? or by manufacturing products people need and want and selling those to the rest of the world?,..like Japan, China, Korea, Germany etc
"Bush tax cuts actually SAVED a lot of jobs that would have been lost and the economy could have been much worse w/o those cuts"
That is literally the dumbest comment ive ever read on youtube. We were losing over 200,000 jobs a month under Bush and you are actually claiming that policy saved jobs?
No, "seriously", i dont believe that...nor did i claim that. But it is worth noting that during the 50's, the tax rate on the rich was 90%. Im not arguing for that...just sayin
dumbest comment ever on YouTube?? how can that be? It's exactly the argument used by joe Biden/Obowma to defend the Stimulus Bill! I was being sarcastic but, VVrrooom, it went right over your head
as to the 90% tax rates, those were the days that Dem controlled Congress didn't fully succeed in ruining our economy. We were booming. Besides, the rich hardly ever paid those rates as there were thousands of ways to avoid. happens whenever rates become too punative
@DcEatsItsYoung. "SevyShasha" and "genie0390" are children and prove it by posting fear mongering, racism. insults and lies on every TYT video. They do that because they can't debate like an adult or backup what they say with facts and don't have the balls to make a video showing their face or talk to people face to face the way they do on TYT.
@G00g284 never voted in my life bacause I was never passioned enough. This time it's different, Ron Paul 2012, if you live under a rock and don't know who he is, do yourself a favor and YT it.
@toastm4n Ok bro, but Ron Paul is a joke. He is not a realistic candidate for president. Look at polls. He's run before, he's running now and he'll maybe get 2-3% of the vote, sharing it with Santorum and the other hopeless candidates. Romney / Cain is all we have pending someone new getting in, everyone else does not have what it takes to kick Barrack Hussein Obama out of office.
@G00g284 JFK? He was charismatic, that's about it. what we need is charismatic AND strong. We need another Teddy Roosevelt. Not George Washington, not Abe Lincoln, not anyone else. We need Teddy, period.
@MrThiefykern They havn't run out of other people's money yet. That is comming to a screaching halt. Just look at Grece, Italy, Ireland or Iceland. Look at the unfunded mandates, pension obligatoins, and welfare. Look at the hordes of Muslms pouring out of North Africa like a swarm of locust, to get on the infidel's dole.
ive been watching TYT for more than a year now, and i still cant believe how the media is bough , they live and a bubble controlled by propaganda, and the truth doesnt matter, this is insane, TYT its the only source of truth i hope they continue growing and spreading the truth
the dems dont get another chance from me. especially obama.
'trying to do the right thing' my ass
when u give one side 100% of what they want its not compromise. hes just a political pawn. dont for a second think his presidency has been like this just because thats how he does politics
This jobs bill was a political stunt from the very beginning. Obama never intend for this bill to pass. He's in campaign mode, so of course he appears to fight. TYT predicted this. This bill was a steak dinner for his base. You already know how this administration feels about his base. We're fucking retarded liberals, we're (you) progressives who only wanted him to do his job, and we (unions) wasted our money backing candidates we wanted instead of the ones he want.
Capitolism is not the enemy. It is not the problem. Socalism is. Government dose not, can not provide jubs. Only the private sector can. Create jobs that provide a profit and adds things to our economy. Government is nothing but a paracite. It can only tax from one and give it to another, weather or not there's a job involved.
I'm sick of this blame the rich covetness and socalists refuseing to get off their ass.
@Hughganaught how can anyone take you seriously when you made at least 5 spelling mistakes? I've lived in Switzerland, the Netherlands and America (in Memphis, Tennessee). I see the effects of socialism and capitalism and can honestly say that my life in America always felt like i was drowning and no one could help me out. In the Netherlands and Switzerland i felt much more pride and joy due to the fact that if you do trip up you wont fall on your ass, burn out and get picked on by pllpe like u
@Mrdutchkid123 You may feel protected by European socalism, but it is dying. The party is over. The fidddler must get paid. There is a dreadful hangover comming. If you think you were drowing then,, just wait.
@Hughganaught oh of course, because America is definitely going in the right direction? And the euro is worth more than the dollar? And the dollar has been going down since bush? And since mostly all politicians are bought and corrupted? Yeah and your spelling still sucks
@Hughganaught Right.. Ive provided facts, personal stories and proper spelling to help support my opinion. You've provided no facts and no details, but at least you gave me the doomsday story, i mean those are always true and dont even need factual support!
@Mrdutchkid123 Those "facts, personal expirences, & proper spelling" might be nice. But I"m a student of history and stay away from fads. I look at the nature of the economy, the principles of supply and demand. I'm sorry but I come down on the side of a free market, the private sector, a fiat currency, & so on.
And things look bleak.
If Obama really wants to do something to improve the economy, he'd resign.
@Hughganaught 1. You spelled a word wrong that you quoted off of me, which is, at best, very depressing. 2. You calling facts fads completely and utterly destroys and validity that you might have had. The conclusion: no good will come of this conversation and i will no longer respond
@Hughganaught Your right. I just read a BBC article on this to see the British perspective and they make it appear like Repubs are the only thing holding America back from apparently 'gaining 1,900,000 jobs'. Wasnt this jobs bill a total of $600b in spending, lets call it $500 to be nice, that's $263,157 per job. So even in the BEST scenario of 1.9m employed because of this, with 100% of funding going directly to salaries and never bureacracy, your still paying over $250,000 per person.
@SevyShasha I can tell you never ran a business..on a job with benefits for a person making 40k a year the company is basically paying 100k for that person when you add up every thing..but the targeted sector of these jobs create additional jobs in theory...ie housing and construction... so even at 50k a year for these jobs most projects take several years it gets ppl spending money? what is your plan how would you fix it? Is it taxes..NO Low tax under Bush recession Avg Tax under Bill Balanced
@excaliba360 I actually run a profitable business, thanks lol. My plan to fix the economy is to elect cain or romney, ideally cain so that a black man can crush any remaining liberals so stupid as to think conservatives are somehow racist. A requirement of this plan is for Obama to out of office, preferably tied to a boat and set sail to Hawaii.
@SevyShasha you may want to hope for cain since romney is not getting elected. Like it or not you need to carry the south to win and the south wont vote for a mormon. Not trying to start a war but if the south wont vote for a mormon and the masses wont vote for a big business guy, romney is not getting in. In all honesty if the republicans wanted to win debates elect someone with brains, they would put ron paul at the top of the list. I dont like it, but the guy is smart.
@Hughganaught But hey, I guess if your getting $250,000 from uncle Barrack Hussein Obama as your salary, your a millionaire in his eyes now and he'll tax that money right back from you since your NOT PAYING YOUR FAIR SHARE LMAO.
@SevyShasha By bringing down the rich, Obama is destroying the economy. I'd quit at $249,000. & go fishing the rest of the year. Socalism destroys the economy by attacking the rich. The rich leave and the country's economy dries up. Just look around.
@Hughganaught "Just look around"... All I see is that the wealthy are given permission to do whatever the fuck they want and THAT is what has destroyed the economy.
"Attacking the rich" as opposed to enslaving the poor and eliminating the middle class?
@Squiglypig The rich will do what they want, reguardless of how we feel. By punishing them, they willl just hunker down, and take their assets home. They are the ones who have the ability to create (real) jobs. By easeing up on the rich, they will loosen their purse strings and allow people to stay middle class.
Coveting and attacking them will only make things worse.
But, if you like the welfare state & think "slavery is better", then you ARE a slave.
@Hughganaught I'm not in the mood to let up on stupid people like you today. Stop embarrassing yourself. You are so ignorant it is a shame to this country.
@Hughganaught - No, capitalism IS the enemy and the problem. Saying the government cannot provide us with jobs is just like saying that companies cannot provide us with jobs.. its a flat out and obvious lie. Class warfare is being fought (and won) by the rich right now, and they need to be spanked HARD by the American citizens for it.
@cosmicforums Companies make things to sell at a profit. Farmers plant things to grow, to sell so others can eat. It's called value added. 2, I hate to break it to you, but the rich call the shots. (agreed that some use if for evil) but still, what can you do? 3, Government dosn't add anything to the economy, in fact it's a drain on the system. 4, Profit is not evil. Profit is what we live on. Coveting the rich will only backfire,
@Hughganaught Clearly you don't know what covet means so stop using it. anywho...
Who builds the roads? Who pays those who build the roads? Where does that money come from? How much profit is made on roads? Government doesn't add anything to the economy? Hoover Dam? Panama Canal? Outside of the services the govt. provides to the nation, the govt. uses regulations not just to protect consumers and the environment but also to bring stability to the economy.
@cynisturb Building roads is not necessarily a government concern. Niether is dam building. But I"m glad they did. Government can only tax, print or steal money. It dosn't make a dime. Profit makes the world go around. It is the mother's milk of a good economy. The only proper role of civil government is secutiry. Roads and dams are not necessarly the role of government, it is a comercial issue, but since it is of utility value, it has fallen to government.
@cynisturb Hoover Dam 1936, Panama Canal 1914. I'll avoid the obvious 'coincidence' of the construction of said buildings to wars. Governments are inefficient and corrupt. Have you ever read about how corrupt Joe Biden is? Why would we let them get involved where they are not required? Perhaps a company could setup a business plan where they create jobs and charge the government for the cost of building a road, rather than the Obama way of just throwing to the unions like a corrupt mo fo.
@cynisturb who runs the dam? and how much money do they make? Who makes the rails and who profits from them? Do you profit from rails being built? or does the companies that transport and use them? Take BART (mass transit) near SF. Government pays for the rail, and pays a portion of each ticket, meanwhile BART makes millions a year. Your examples are not signs of government helping the people, your examples are how the government has been helping business make more money. Then you protest it.
Regardless of the political theatre portion, it's a terrible jobs plan. Obama is going to create temporary jobs and spend more money while doing so, and cut taxes. There is no way the Super-Committee is going to cut spending to account for all of this. The deficit will be made even larger. The debt will be made even larger. Huge taxes will be necessary in the future for our already overwhelming national debt and Obama is just making it worse. No wonder businessmen are "sitting" on idle cash.
@sensur1 The president can't make a law, he can only stop it with a veto power. Congress with a 2/3 vote in both houses can override a veto, though. Which won't happen with this bill.
Seriously this needs to end already march on congress and string them all up by there belts ! before that happens though we march on the corporations and tell them if they want to be a person then they should die like one. The only way this country WILL ever work right again is if we have a revolution and throw these corrupt pieces of garbage out on their asses ! To hell with the Republicans AND the Democrats !
cenk i do not agree with you on this one. i think the point that the AP was trying to make is that it is kind of convenient how Obama attempts to pass a progressive bill AFTER the congress went republican. that is obviously a political trick to make progressives think that he is left wing. if obama truly wanted to raise taxes he would have done it during the democratic congress.
I'm convinced that Obama is trying to do the right thing. His conviction from the beginning has been that cooperation and compromise between the two parties is the key to successful governance.
Unfortunately, Republicans have mercilessly taken advantage of his willingness to compromise, not at all preoccupied with running a nation, but with their own, or their corporate bosses', personal gain.
My hopes are that Obama realises this. And, as he did here, pushes his ideas through regardless.
@shittyfagg I'm sorry but you are grossly naive to think that a man like Obama is naive to the workings of politics in the USofA and the antics of the Republican party.
He is and and always has been, part of the system, part of the game. For you to think Obama somehow does not understand what going on with Repubs "mercilessly taken advantage of his willingness to compromise" means you essentially think he's not very smart cause if YOU can see it from your seat at home, how the hell Obama cant?
@Chubearishere I think a lot of people have a good hearted feeling that Obama is somehow good hearted and really is trying to compromise, but did not expect such opposition to his logic and willingness to stop the political theater and actually try and get something done on the federal level...
@shittyfagg His 2nd biggest campaign contributor was Goldman Sachs - he is just like Bush , bought and paid for .Just look at his cabinet appointment - Wall Street really rules the US just as an insider admitted - " Goldman Sachs rules the world" . Obama's stimulus $ was throwing good $ after bad, his promise to bring home the troops - I'm still waiting as are the guys on their 3rd deployment to the Middle East ! Keep drinking the kool aid through -both parties bought&paid for .
@shittyfagg NAIVE. People like you are the reason Obama doesn't fight for anything even when he had the Congress and Senate, because you excuse him regardless. It is now an official fact that Obama modeled his biggest accomplishment (health care bill) after Republican Mitt Romney, even though he had both the house and senate. He isn't a progressive or liberal, I dont even think hes a democrat. Hes a centrist/corporatist politician, another one the system enjoys.
@shittyfagg When Obama won the Presidency Democrats also has the Senate and Congress for a full year. He didn't do shit, because he didn't want to do shit. Instead he copied Romney's bill and extended the Bush tax cuts.
@brian2786 I read comments like yours and I think to myself, who the fuck need Republicans when you have people supposedly on your side that can't even pick up a fucking newspaper once in a while. Obama didn't fight for this bill? Where the fuck have you been? Obama didn't get the public option? Did you ever look into WHY that was?
It's people like you that give progressives a bad name.
@brian2786 Isn't it prohibited to run or represent a political party when your views run contrary to what the party's views are?
Too many RINOs and DINOs running around. Political parties NEED to have their own written document of statutes to govern what ideologies its members are supposed to abide by.
I have to partially agree with your argument here.
Its to the point where its actually valid to ponder that the only reason Obama is a Democrat is because, before hes actual Presidency, it would have been impossible for a black Republican to get candidacy for a Presidential election.
@shittyfagg if it is possible to push his ideas through "regardless" than it's clearly not true that "compromise" is the "key to successful governance" - whatever the heck that means.
It's obvious that Obama was betting on this bill failing, so he can use it for political gain by blaming the evil GOP for blocking jobs. Never mind the fact that, if passed, it would only lower the unemployment rate by 0.2% and would permanently undermine Social Security with a tax cut that won't create jobs.
.
Progressives need to see this bill for what it is: another game Obama is playing to rally support for his re-election. Nothing more.

He designed an outrageously-priced jobs bill GUARANTEED to be REJECTED by Congress, after BANKRUPTING America to the point we can't pay for it.
Then he blames Congress for the Economy he destroyed, right on schedule!
Jeez! What a con artist.
The White Horse is bucking him off.

And btw, I know many entrepreneurs that would make Thomas Jefferson cringe. They can't even start their lawn mowers.
You are right about one thing, the problem is in DC which was part of my original point. K street owns our political process.
dsgregg 4 months ago
@dsgregg If they are protesting on Wall Street, their education has failed them. That is obvious! As they are on the wrong street!!! We needed not be "entrepreneur connected", however it is the entrepreneur that creates the jobs, including the government jobs, as they wouldn't exist otherwise. Everyone has a place and a talent in this world. If you can start lawn mowers, good for you. Accept your place in life rather than whine about what others can do. However, who created the lawnmower!?
ladylordess 4 months ago
@ladylordess You are grossly overstating the contributions of entrepreneurs in "creating jobs". Many jobs are created by natural growth or other efforts to fill a demand from consumers. Yes there are an extremely small number of "real" entrepreneurs who created new products and companies but that is a very small part of the economy. Many jobs are created by R&D in corporations that lead to new products but those people are scientists and engineers.
dsgregg 4 months ago
@dsgregg Yes, natural growth and free markets. However, you need an entrepreneur to begin the ball rolling. Look at history and stop believing your capitalist hating union teachers. Do your own research.
An entrepreneur is the person who sees the demand and creates the market for the consumer to purchase it. Then competition takes over.
The R&D that goes on does so under a corporation that an Entrepreneur created.
Sad that you are unable to see that.
ladylordess 4 months ago
@ladylordess No, you don't need an entrepreneur to get the ball rolling. You need some level of leadership but that often doesn't come from entrepreneurs. The internet is a good example. It was created by the military and commercialized by large and small business. You should do some research. You're wrong again by saying entrepreneurs creates a market. Many market entrants aren't really entrepreneurs but rather "me too" lackeys that can't start a lawn mower. Sad you just don't get it.
dsgregg 4 months ago
@dsgregg If you want to succeed, you do need an entrepreneur to get the ball rolling. Look at what has happened when our government tried to get the ball rolling, just playing venture capitalist. THEY FAILED with our money. There isn't any leadership there!! Entrepreneurs see the future and spend money wisely, unlike the government or the minions they hire, with our money. Entrepreneurs SEE the need and create the ability for their to be a market. Governments do not. Good Luck Mowing.
ladylordess 4 months ago
@ladylordess Its like you just don't get it. The government doesn't play venture capitalist in this county. What newspapers do you read? Can you read? Venture capital is used by the wealthy to help satisfy their greedy interests and a huge amount of it is wasted in ridiculous ventures that don't lead to anything but waste. Most new ventures fail and they use consumers money siphoned by their other businesses to pay for it.
dsgregg 4 months ago
@dsgregg You just don't get it. You don't know what a governments role begins and ends. You don't know what a venture capitalist does. You obviously do not know what crony capitalism is even when it is in your face. You will remain a fool and a brainwashed moron. There is no hope for drones such as yourself.

SevyShasha 4 months ago
@SevyShasha I can tell you never ran a business..on a job with benefits for a person making 40k a year the company is basically paying 100k for that person when you add up every thing..but the targeted sector of these jobs create additional jobs in theory...ie housing and construction... so even at 50k a year for these jobs most projects take several years it gets ppl spending money? what is your plan how would you fix it? Is it taxes..NO Low tax under Bush recession Avg Tax under Bill Balanced
excaliba360 4 months ago
@excaliba360 I actually run a profitable business, thanks lol. My plan to fix the economy is to elect cain or romney, ideally cain so that a black man can crush any remaining liberals so stupid as to think conservatives are somehow racist. SevyShasha 4 months ago
@SevyShasha you may want to hope for cain since romney is not getting elected. Like it or not you need to carry the south to win and the south wont vote for a mormon. Hughganaught 4 months ago
@Hughganaught "Just look around"... All I see is that the wealthy are given permission to do whatever the fuck they want and THAT is what has destroyed the economy.

Squiglypig 4 months ago
@Squiglypig The rich will do what they want, reguardless of how we feel. By punishing them, they willl just hunker down, and take their assets home. cosmicforums 4 months ago
Coveting the rich will only backfire,
Hughganaught 4 months ago
@Hughganaught Clearly you don't know what covet means so stop using it. anywho...
Who builds the roads? Who pays those who build the roads? Where does that money come from? How much profit is made on roads? Government doesn't add anything to the economy? Hoover Dam? Panama Canal? Outside of the services the govt. provides to the nation, the govt. uses regulations not just to protect consumers and the environment but also to bring stability to the economy.
cynisturb 4 months ago
@cynisturb Building roads is not necessarily a government concern. Niether is dam building. But I"m glad they did. Government can only tax, print or steal money. It dosn't make a dime. Profit makes the world go around. It is the mother's milk of a good economy. The only proper role of civil government is secutiry. Roads and dams are not necessarly the role of government, it is a comercial issue, but since it is of utility value, it has fallen to government.
Hughganaught 4 months ago
@cynisturb Hoover Dam 1936, Panama Canal 1914. I'll avoid the obvious 'coincidence' of the construction of said buildings to wars. Governments are inefficient and corrupt. Have you ever read about how corrupt Joe Biden is? Why would we let them get involved where they are not required? Perhaps a company could setup a business plan where they create jobs and charge the government for the cost of building a road, rather than the Obama way of just throwing to the unions like a corrupt mo fo.
SevyShasha 4 months ago
@SevyShasha Yep, almost anything would be better than trusting government to do it.
Hughganaught 4 months ago
@cynisturb who runs the dam? and how much money do they make? Who makes the rails and who profits from them? Do you profit from rails being built? or does the companies that transport and use them? Take BART (mass transit) near SF. Government pays for the rail, and pays a portion of each ticket, meanwhile BART makes millions a year. Your examples are not signs of government helping the people, your examples are how the government has been helping business make more money. Then you protest it.

Cant Obama veto this through?
sensur1 4 months ago
@sensur1 veto power is only wielded to stop a bill from going into law AFTER it has been PASSED.

@jon85554es
ok, thanks
sensur1 4 months ago
@sensur1 The president can't make a law, he can only stop it with a veto power. Congress with a 2/3 vote in both houses can override a veto, though. Which won't happen with this bill.
adobepoopscript 4 months ago
can someone tell me, can obama pass this bill anyway even if congress disagrees with him? or does he actually NEED the support of the senate etc.
because in my opinion, if you win the presidential election you should control what happens.

DarkZombieMan007 4 months ago
cenk i do not agree with you on this one. i think the point that the AP was trying to make is that it is kind of convenient how Obama attempts to pass a progressive bill AFTER the congress went republican. that is obviously a political trick to make progressives think that he is left wing. if obama truly wanted to raise taxes he would have done it during the democratic congress.
now THAT is politics 101.

Republicans say Obama is using the jobs plan as a "weapon" instead of a "tool". :P

It's hilarious how they all think that doing what the voters want ('campaigning') isn't what the country needs.

And, as he did here, pushes his ideas through regardless.

jon85554es 4 months ago
@shittyfagg I'm sorry but you are grossly naive to think that a man like Obama is naive to the workings of politics in the USofA and the antics of the Republican party.
He is and and always has been, part of the system, part of the game. For you to think Obama somehow does not understand what going on with Repubs "mercilessly taken advantage of his willingness to compromise" means you essentially think he's not very smart cause if YOU can see it from your seat at home, how the hell Obama cant?
Chubearishere 4 months ago 17
@Chubearishere Maybe he's a lot smarter than you or Obama, so he's able to see what everyone else can't

Keep drinking the kool aid through -both parties bought&paid for .
doogleandalix 4 months ago
@shittyfagg NAIVE. People like you are the reason Obama doesn't fight for anything even when he had the Congress and Senate, because you excuse him regardless. It is now an official fact that Obama modeled his biggest accomplishment (health care bill) after Republican Mitt Romney, even though he had both the house and senate. He isn't a progressive or liberal, I dont even think hes a democrat. Hes a centrist/corporatist politician, another one the system enjoys.
brian2786 4 months ago 46
@brian2786 what do you mean he had both the house and the senate? If he did, he'd have gotten enough votes for the bill to pass, but he didn't. So..
shittyfagg 4 months ago
@shittyfagg When Obama won the Presidency Democrats also has the Senate and Congress for a full year. He didn't do shit, because he didn't want to do shit. Instead he copied Romney's bill and extended the Bush tax cuts.
brian2786 4 months ago
@brian2786 I read comments like yours and I think to myself, who the fuck need Republicans when you have people supposedly on your side that can't even pick up a fucking newspaper once in a while. Obama didn't fight for this bill? Where the fuck have you been? Obama didn't get the public option? Did you ever look into WHY that was?
It's people like you that give progressives a bad name.
shalcall 4 months ago
@brian2786 Isn't it prohibited to run or represent a political party when your views run contrary to what the party's views are?
Too many RINOs and DINOs running around. Political parties NEED to have their own written document of statutes to govern what ideologies its members are supposed to abide by.
ccricers 4 months ago
@brian2786 I agree.
Stingerbillion 4 months ago
@brian2786
I have to partially agree with your argument here.
Its to the point where its actually valid to ponder that the only reason Obama is a Democrat is because, before hes actual Presidency, it would have been impossible for a black Republican to get candidacy for a Presidential election.
Lobos222 4 months ago
@shittyfagg you are so naive. he get's done what his bosses tell him he can do.
soccerdude601 4 months ago
@shittyfagg if it is possible to push his ideas through "regardless" than it's clearly not true that "compromise" is the "key to successful governance" - whatever the heck that means.
pnoozi 4 months ago
It's obvious that Obama was betting on this bill failing, so he can use it for political gain by blaming the evil GOP for blocking jobs. Never mind the fact that, if passed, it would only lower the unemployment rate by 0.2% and would permanently undermine Social Security with a tax cut that won't create jobs.
.
Progressives need to see this bill for what it is: another game Obama is playing to rally support for his re-election. Nothing more.
